I was still wearing my cervical collar, and my recovery had taken an unexpected turn. As I was waking up from anesthesia, I realized I couldn't move my right arm. I had spent six weeks in the hospital and rehabilitation, and because I couldn't use my dominant arm, I couldn't even brush my hair. By the time I walked into her salon, I was physically exhausted and emotionally broken. My hair extensions had become severely tangled and matted, and I was embarrassed. I didn't feel beautiful anymore. I barely felt like myself. But Johnaee never saw the mess. She saw me. She treated me with kindness, compassion, and dignity from the very first moment.
