Mom moved from one bad place to another. She will not move again as this second move experience was AWFUL!! One of the things that sold us was wheelchair transportation to/from appointments. We informed them that her doctors were in Monterey and it wasn't until she was all moved in and deposit/rent paid that we were informed she would need to get new doctors as they don't transport to Monterey AND there is NOT wheelchair transportation. The only transportation they have is in a car that the resident has to transfer to/from chair to get in vehicle. Well this didn't go well with another resident. There was only one person transferring her to the car and the resident fell, shattered her ankle and broke her leg and will require a skin graph to cover the area. We were informed after Mom fell "with assistance" that she would require a two person assist. This only happened once when she came back from the hospital after this particular fall. I could keep going but not sure if all will be read. STAY AWAY FROM MADONNA GARDENS IF YOU FINANCIALLY CAN AFFORD ANOTHER FACILITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mona was very efficient at coordinating her admission from the hospital. She was also very diligent when coordinating all the transportation to and from the dialysis center. All the staff at Windsor was very professional and very helpful. We will visit my grandmother everyday and they were always very friendly. Mona was very efficient and very diligent with my grandmothers discharge. She made sure that my grandmother left with everything she needed. The discharge was very smooth and as her caretaker I left very confident and prepare.

Some residents get excellent care while others are all but ignored. The administration is inexperienced and lacks management skills. The food is awful with some of the worst tasting and poorly prepared food I've ever tasted. No attention is paid to balanced meals or special needs diets. Laundry service is an absolute joke. If someone can be found to wash clothes or bedding, it may take 24 hours or more to have it returned. The longer it takes to be returned the more likely it will be lost. Clothing will quickly deteriorate because no attention is paid to separating colored from whites and high heat is used to dry everything. On the bright side, the campus is beautiful, cleaning is skillfully handled, and there is an engaged activities director. Residents are friendly and easy to get to know.

We were relatively young, 67 and 72, but we decided that it was important for us to find a place where we could live for the rest of our life in a secure and active community. We were impressed with the beauty of Carmel Valley, the sunny weather and close proximity to all of the attractions of the Monterey Peninsula. What became more apparent after our move in was the amazing sense of community and love of life that fills our lives here. The residents are active with a multitude of sports, games, special musical events, concerts, fascinating guest speakers, continuing education, painting, weaving, photography, plays, trips to local and bay area cultural events and many, many more. We are never bored and have made many friends which we cherish. We realize, that as we get older everything is in place for us to stay active and independent and when we need assistance it is always available. Equally important, our children are happy that they don't have to worry about us, can visit and stay in the on site guest units and will never be burdened with the trauma of trying to find a place for us in the event of stroke, or other major disabling illness, We like the fact that all facilities, independent, assisted care and the Skilled Nursing Facilities are all co-located allowing spouses who may be recuperating from treatment to take meals and visit together without worrying about transportation to an off site facility. For us it's a great value and source of peace for our future. I visited on June 20, 2026, specifically to have both ears cleaned, as I have a medical condition that requires earwax removal approximately every six months. I explained this to Dr. Mendoza and specifically requested that both ears be cleaned. However, she only cleaned my right ear and insisted there was no wax in my left ear, despite my concerns. The very next day, my left ear became plugged and my hearing was muffled. I called the office, and Veronica told me I could return to be seen by another provider. She specifically assured me that if wax was found and removed, I would not be charged or have my insurance billed, and that I would only be charged if a lavage was performed. When I returned on June 22, another physician found earwax in my left ear and removed it with an instrument--not a lavage. This confirmed that my original concern was valid and that wax had been present all along. Despite the assurance I was given, my insurance was billed and I was charged another copay. When I contacted Veronica about the unexpected charge, she changed the explanation and said I was billed because the physician discussed another medical issue and provided a lab slip. That directly contradicted what I had been told before returning. I did not request evaluation of any other condition, and any discussion about prior medical history was initiated by the provider--not by me. To make matters worse, I found errors in my medical record, including my height being documented incorrectly, which resulted in an inaccurate BMI classification. When I asked about correcting the record, I was simply told to submit the correction myself through MyChart instead of the office taking responsibility. Throughout this process, I found Veronica to be dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. Most importantly, this entire situation could have been avoided if my original request to clean both ears had been addressed during my first visit. The second physician confirmed that earwax was indeed present in the ear that was left untreated. I hope the clinic reviews both its billing practices and how patient concerns are handled. Patients should be able to trust the information they're given and expect complete, accurate care without having to return because their initial treatment was incomplete.
