Everything was about the billings and hidden charges (shows up on your medical insurance charges). Four to one care ratio: means you get 15 minutes out of 60 (for hand and wrist care). The place is first and foremost a business--private equity likely. The care providers had so much pressure on them to make sure that billings are primary. Really discouraging. read more

I have been to a few Rehabilitation centers in my day. The staff here are very professional kind and always greet you by name and a smile The receptionist Cindy was able to switch my appointment time earlier than I already had at the last minute.The therapists Michael,Dan,and Rebecca are very professional they all help each other out. When your time is up to start with another exercise and your therapist is working with someone else the free one is right there to start you with another exercise there is no wasted time inbetween exercises. They check the laptops look up your name and continue on to the next one. When I went to other Rehabs when the ONE therapist had a couple of patients there he couldn't be able to take the proper care. At IVY there are 3 therapists that are right there.No time is wasted. Iam so glad that I found IVY and Can't wait to get well again. I am recommending IVY to anyone that I know and If you are reading this from Yelp you will not be DISAPPOINTED. read more

Went to Ivy, Middletown, NY location, after fracturing my arm in 3 places, smashing my humerus & tearing my rotator all which involved major reconstructive surgery. Within 6 months, through exercises both there & at home as well manipulation and massage, I have the use of my arm back! They are very caring and take your injuries seriously. Just wanted to post an update to my situation. I was originally told by the front desk staff that my visits were completely covered, no copay. I was a newly postpartum mom and trusted this information. I was subsequently sent bills from ivy rehab and contacted their central billing who I went back and forth with for hours with my insurance. I was finally assured 6 months ago that they were taken care of and not to worry. Fast forward to today, they are still sending me bills. When I called back they are denying that they called me saying the bills are taken care of and I am responsible for paying and even if they told me I was completely covered, it was only a courtesy and I should have verified my benefits myself. I normally would have done this except I was a newly postpartum mom suffering from c section complications. This is a despicable practice in my opinion. I'm a healthcare provider myself and I would have gone out of my way to have my company write off the bills if this happened to one of my patients. They did get paid for the visits from my insurance company. read more

The quality of care was excellent. The foregoing notwithstanding, from my perspectice, the billing practices were deliberately deceptive. I was specifically informed, verbally, that my total out-of-pocket costs would be $50 per visit. That amount was doubled once charged were 'balanced billed' to the insurance carrier. Tried to reply to Sara H who said to contact billing after my negative review..... I did contact billing, and as I already said, after leaving multiple messages finally got a supervisor to call back about a week later. The person was very nice but basically said (in not so many words" it is what it is, sorry you had an issue, but we don't have to notify you about e-billing, have a nice day" This person however also assured me that I was only sent to pre-collections and that it takes a few weeks to clear. Well, here we are over a month later and I still am getting notices. At this point I am monitoring both my and my Wifes credit. If either of us gets dinged, I will take legal action. Oh and as to the "We are not required to let you know about the change to e-billing" I contacted the state, they were VERY interested in the information that I was given, specifically about changing everyone over to e-billing without notice. They informed me that in the state of NJ that is illegal, and also informed me that they have had other complaints about Ivy. I provided all my documentation and any transcripts of the calls I had. I've been coming to this Ivy Rehab off and on for about 2 years because my body doesn't love me. I always choose to return here because I've always been pleased with every physical therapist I've had. They have always been professional and attentive to my needs. The exercises and Therpaist table work have helped me tremendously over the years. All of the therapists and assistants are super friendly. It's like Cheers where everyone knows your name when you walk in the door. The facility is clean and I like how they are keeping their clients safe during covid. The staff are cleaning equipment between each use and social distancing. Everyone is wearing masks and gloves as well. Stephanie is my favorite PT... She's super knowledgeable and makes me feel like I'm in good hands . read more

Very good therapist and worst billing department. My pain is 80% gone away with 12 visits. But reason I am only giving 1 star is for billing nightmare. Before taking appointments I called them and ask about payments. Christina told me with my Aetna insurance it will be $100 per visit. After 4 months I billed $150 an average per EOB. They charge my insurance company $6979 for 1st 10 visits. After negotiation with them finalized bill is $1410. So $141 per visit. $40 more per visit. 40% extra money then they told me. I feel really bed writing this review since therapist was so good. read more

The person taking my information was rude, and seemingly annoyed with me from our first sentence. They do not have any appoints in 24 hours, as they claim in their advertising, online, and physically in front of their office door. They can't see me until Monday, a week from now. If I don't find another place to go to, I am curious what will happen next, but I am hoping I will find somewhere else. read more

If you are considering Ivy for your rehab needs, my advice is to find an alternate provider. Sadly, in my opinion Ivy is one of the WORST I have dealt with. To be clear, the therapists were really good, and the care itself that I got was great. But that is where the good stuff ends. When I first started going, I was VERY clear that I did NOT want any electronic billing and that all bills were to be mailed. I also put a card on file to cover any charges that my ins did not cover. Imagine my surprise when a few months later I get a notice from a collection agency (in my wifes name with bad spelling mistakes in the name) saying I was overdue. Calling in to the office I was informed that Ivy changed everyone over to e-billing a few months back and when I asked why I was not notified the person told me " We sent emails, but we are not required to notify you, this was done as a courtesy" (Incorrect, you ARE required to notify patients of a change like this and on a side note, I am not sure if they are allowed under law to opt their patients into e-billing without consent). They offered to have an office mgr call me back (have called in twice and was told they would call me back, 2 weeks later and I am still waiting for the callback) while on the call, I asked why my card on file was not charged and they did not know. They referred me to the billing department or that, and the billing department offered a callback by a supervisor (Note, they never called back). I did pay the bill at that time, but STILL get collection notices, when I called BACK in I was told "Oh this is just pre collection they won't touch your credit and we see the bill as paid but it can take time to clear" Waiting to see if this is actually true and I am in the process of filing a complaint with the state regarding the billing issue. It's sad because the therapists are IMHO actually quite good. read more

PLEASE RUN AWAY!! This place was great in 2016, but has gone straight downhill since then. I had a double mastectomy and they really helped me with range of motion the fit time around. Unfortunately, a few years later, I thought that I would give them a try with my daughter...BIGGEST mistake ever!! First, it was very difficult to get a desirable time slot with a female therapist. When we finally got one, and my daughter was at her first appointment, she immediately didn't care for the session. My daughter wanted to leave about 5 minutes into the hour! I told her it would be rude to walk out, so she completed the session, BUT we knew we weren't coming back. I told the office about how awful it was, and they didn't care at all, their main concern was the copay that I owe them.FYI they are putting my 85 year old dad in collections for my daughter's debt! (They couldn't even get the billing right!) I attend the Ivy Rehab in Southpark. I have been in Physical Therapy more than 10 times in my life, but I have to say that by far they are the best in all of my experiences. The best physical therapists in North Jersey or NYC area! Stephanie has a fantastic team, everyone is extremely kind, patient, and knowledgeable and genuinely want you to get better. I first went to ivy a few years ago for runner's knee, within a few weeks of working with Stephanie I was running pain free again and also learned a bunch of exercises/stretches I could do on my own to prevent it from happening again. About a year later I sprained my ankle on a run and was in a walking cast for about a month. I went back to Ivy, and Stephanie had me running again in less than two months. I am now back with meniscus tear (from fall I took on a run) and on the road to recovery once again. Honestly, I cannot say one negative thing about this place. The therapist make you feel like you are their only patient, never feeling rushed and always giving ample 1-on-1 time. As far as insurance goes, Stacey at the front desk is amazing, she does all the research on costs and coverage for you so there are never any surprises with the bill. As for appointments and scheduling, they have a very accommodating hours spanning from early morning to late nights and I have never once had to wait for my appointment. Literally the best!! I am very upset about my experience at Ivy Rehab. During my treatment time, my injured area progressively hurt more and when I stopped my PT treatment, it actually got better. After speaking with one of my closest friends who is a physical therapist, she said she was shocked at some of the exercises I was given because they would cause my injury to worsen / flare up more. My doctor also thought that the exercises I was given were not good for my injury and after reviewing my PT treatment with him, he was very disappointed because they were not spending the time with me that they should have been and following what he asked of them on the PT prescription. Additionally, there was often a patient there the same time as me who was overly loud and obnoxious and nothing was ever said to him. There are signs all over the office that say "No cellphones" and this guy seriously spent his entire appointments on the phone having LOUD conversations and acted like he owned the place. One day, he even adjusted one of the stim machines I was on - HOW INAPPROPRIATE IS THAT? I honestly feel very upset and taken advantage of because paying for these PT sessions caused me major setbacks financially and I came to find it only made my injury worse and I would have been better off without them at all. read more

After the birth of my daughter in August last year my pelvic floor muscles had lost their normal ability to prevent leakages and my ab separation was quite prevalent. After seeing Steph over the past few months I have seen significant improvement to both and I've regained my overall confidence back. I'm now equipped with an exercise routine that I can fit into my day as a busy working mother too which is manageable and has me feeling great. At my first visit to Ivy Rehab/Elite Physical Therapy, I was given a form that listed the cost of my first visit would be $31 and follow up visits would be $15. Unfortunately, I believed them. I gave them my credit card for the first visit. After a few follow up visits (when someone was at the desk) I asked what I owed and was told they were automatically charging my credit card for each visit, so I didn't owe anything. Months after I was done with PT, I received a text, phone message, and a letter from a collection agency stating I owed $546.67. I called to find out what the bill was for and was told that the first visit was actually $158.01 and follow ups were $75 each. Since they had checked with my insurance company right before my first visit, they should have told me the correct prices. They are very deceptive and unethical. Also, a couple of times they texted me stating I had an appointment the following day, (which I did not make) and if I did not cancel, I was going to get charged. Even after I was done with PT, they continued to text me about appointments. I had to call multiple times to tell them I "graduated" and was done with PT. I would not have gone as many times if I knew it was $75 each time. Again, Ivy Rehab is very deceptive and unethical! read more

I was recommended to go to Ivy Rehab by my dr who shared the same office. Up front before starting my rehab I requested to know how much i was being charged per visit. I was no where near my deductible and wanted to keep things in budget. The response I got was not much but it depends on what the Therapist needs to do each visit. So i inquired further and asked well i have gone to Sportscare for about $50 a visit. Is close to that price or is it like $100-$200 a visit. The response i got was "It's not a lot." After the first appointment i asked again, how much would i be charged for this visit. I was told by the therapist to ask the front desk and they will be able to tell me. The front desk said i needed to call the billing department. The billing department sent back to talk to the the therapist. I tried after each visit. At visit 7 still not hearing about how much i am being charged, just that it wouldn't be a lot, I stopped going to Ivy Rehab. A few weeks later i received a notice that showed they were submitting the bill to my insurance. Prior to my insurance negotiating the price, Ivy Rehab tried to charge $4635.00, my insurance negotiated it down to 1008.83. I called and complained to the billing department because i think either of the above prices is a huge ripoff. I said that this pricing is still rather high compared to where I have gone before and with all my inquiries on how much i was going to be billed I wanted someone to look into this. Their response was they would discuss it with my insurance company of why my bill was so much. I stated that I don't think my insurance company is the problem here. In the coarse of each 1 hour visit the therapist spent less than 10 minutes with me. So for what they are trying to bill my insurance company the therapist is getting paid roughly $3973 an hour. I asked why is it so expensive and was told we don't do non insurance pricing. If I wanted to pay without insurance I should go somewhere that takes clients without insurance, like SportsCare. I explained that I was checking prices up front and was told by your front desk that you were not very expensive. If the office was up front about their charges I would have gone somewhere else. I have had the good fortune of attending physical therapy treatment at the Lynbrook, NY location last year and again this year. It has been a great experience. My team is wonderful and I could not be happier with my care. However, I am currently in a wheelchair and find it very inconvenient that the facility does not have electric door openers. I am told by others who attend other IVY rehabs that they have the same problem at their location.I sincerely believe this should be remedied for the patients under your care. In fact I am amazed that this has been permitted since many people are disabled. Please consider correcting this asap. Thank you read more

I have worked with Julie -- and had a terrific experience. I had shown up at the IvyRehab's Hoboken office at the beginning of November 2015 with the dreaded lateral epicondylitis diagnostic -- structural degeneration of one of the elbow tendons -- experiencing debilitating pain, and facing quite an uncertain and bleak outlook. (I am an avid rock & ice climber, but at the time I had serious trouble performing the most basic day to day tasks.) Four months later, I am back on the rock, pushing again through the grades, and this is as great an outcome as I could have hoped for -- in fact, as far as I am concerned, Julie performed a small miracle. Make no mistake, this is a very frustrating, hard to heal injury, and the best treatment course is still very much a matter of debate in the medical community. Julie decided to start with a most conservative treatment, and, while she made tweaks and adjustments as we progressed, it stayed conservative for its entire the duration, and I am very happy about that. Yes, quite a few of the exercises can be performed at home (and I was encouraged to), but I strongly believe that electrotherapy, deep tissue mobilization, as well as the careful supervision (Julie paid great attention to details) played a crucial role in the recovery process. Physical therapy is a very delicate and intricate process, which, ideally, is built on trust, and open communication. I do believe that a reinforcing, positive feedback loop needs to develop in order for the process to be successful. Actually, this happened quite trivially -- it was extremely easy to talk to Julie, and to get to trust her, as we went over (and over! -- as I did have a fair amount of questions) treatment decisions and the specifics of the injury. In the end, it felt as we were working together, through the ups and downs of the treatment, and that was fantastic. Last but not least, I would like to mention that everybody at IvyRehab has been courteous, friendly, and very professional. I would warmly recommend Julie and the IvyRehab team. read more

Such a great experience! I saw Dana for vertigo and throughout my entire experience there she was super kind, professional, and very knowledgeable. On the first visit, she was able to really pinpointwhat was going on and I felt such relief (physically and mentally!). The vertigo continued to linger (it was very stubborn and it turned out to be caused by multiple factors) but she was patient as we worked through all different techniques to attack my symptoms. The front desk staff is also great! They're super friendly and easy to work with. My body is a mess and I'm sure I'll need more PT in the future. I know exactly where I'm going! read more

This review is not about the therapists, it is about the billing. Be careful! They do not disclose how their billing system works before using their facility. My husband was treated for a full year and never received a bill or had their billing explained to him and we just received an ENORMOUS bill. Our PT in the past accepted whatever insurance paid, and if they didn't it was explained BEFORE services were rendered. The billing office only apologized for not having properly trained staff which is not helpful at all when it comes to paying these out of pocket expenses. If we had known, he would have gone elsewhere. We will NEVER us Ivy again. read more

I came to the Pennington (Denow Road) office of IVY after total left knee replacement surgery. Having been through physical therapy for various knee and shoulder surgeries arising from sports related injuries, I wanted to get a therapist close to home for the first few weeks, with the thought that I would stop going to IVY after I could drive to my "old" therapist after a few weeks. However, I changed my plan and stayed with IVY, in spite of the distance I had to drive, for the whole course of my PT because I immediately realized that the IVY program was more intense and thorough than what I had been through before, from the initial evaluation to the equipment used, and the continually progressive imposition of exercises and use of machines. My therapist, Bharat Raj, (PHD, by the way) was always on top of everything that I was doing, and pushed me to the limit that I allowed him to push me. He suggested a home exercise program with online illustrations that I found easy to use, and generally encouraged my recovery in every way. I would not hesitate to recommend Bharat and the staff at Pennington IVY (all of whom were encouraging, friendly and always helpful to patients, as well as supportive of each other) to anyone in need of PT. During the time I attended this program, I observed all of the staff interacting with other patients with all kinds of serious injuries, and of all ages from preteens to people even older than me (age 73), in a caring and friendly way. [The real proof of their success with me, at least as far as I am concerned, is that I started riding my road bicycle only 70 days after surgery, and that the first time I tried bowling after I completed PT, my score improved by 20 pins, only 90 days after surgery.] Thanks to all of you. read more

I had shoulder surgery 2 years ago for a SLAP tear (at HSS in the city... highly recommend Dr. Gulotta!). After surgery, he sent me to Kipnis physical therapy in Seacaucus and they were wonderful; my therapist worked with me each time for 30 minutes or so, and then once I was strong enough had me do strengthening on my own. My therapist was never working with more than 2 patients at a time, and took care to explain everything to me. A year later, I had some lingering pain related to the shoulder. I didn't want to drive to Seacaucus again, and had heard some good things about Ivy Rehab. After 2 appointments, however, I probably should have left and gone back to Kipnis. Ivy looks and feels like a Physical Therapy factory. The space is cramped and they churn through patients. I was surprised to find that my therapist only spent 10 minutes or so with me before handing me off to an assistant. I did find that the therapists were friendly, and the receptionists were helpful; it's not their fault that Ivy is set up the way it is (Ivy is a large corporate organization). However, if you can manage to go elsewhere, and are truly in need of professional physical therapy, there are better places out there that will get you on the mend much faster. read more

It's a nice facility and the therapists seem competent but I didn't find the services worth my time. They mostly had me do the same exercises they prescribed for me to do at home plus a few more things, independently. After the initial visit, my therapist Nolan only spent 10 minutes with me. This has been my experience with other physical therapy practices so maybe this is just what happens at physical therapy but when I'm paying a $50 co-pay per visit and they want you to come 1-2x a week, I'd rather just go once and get my exercise plan and go back once in a blue moon. read more
