Came here to meet up with a friend for happy hour and dinner. They had a pretty extensive selection of rolls and I felt they were relatively inexpensive compared to other places. We were seated outside and service was quick! I got a couple of basic rolls- spicy tuna and salmon rolls and both were great! I also really liked their Thai iced tea. This restaurant was one of the best reviewed in the area I was in so I decided to check it out. Welcoming you is an outdoor patio section which was closed because it was freezing outside but it's good to know they had a burner lamp outside as well just in case. The variety of sushi they have here is incredible. It was approximately 30 specialty roles at minimum which was not the norm in most places. The sushi tasted so fresh I literally felt like I inhaled it and it was gone. The chicken teriyaki however was a little rubbery in texture although it seemed it was cooked through. The flavor of the teriyaki was great so I'm hoping this was a one off situation. Overall a great visit and I will be back when in town to try more of their speciality rolls. read more

Food Love their tofu bento boxed because it makes thinking about what to eat easy and being an indecisive person at little less busy to think about what I want to eat. The menu has what you are looking for at a Japanese place and really fresh. The food isn't premade and you can tell they really care about the quality here. Service Got something for pickup, but they were super nice about it. I decided to try out this newer Japanese restaurant in the area. There's seating both inside and outside, which I thought was nice. The staff person was nice and welcome. I placed a to go order for a tuna poke bowl. The poke bowl was decent. It was missing the avocado which was truly a bummer. There was a good amount of tuna but it was lacking on all of the other ingredients. Mostly rice. I don't think I would get the poke bowl again, but I would come back to try the sushi and other dishes. From what I saw in the restaurant, the sushi looked delicious. read more

No notes! I was nearby and starving, so I checked to see what sushi options were nearby. It had been awhile since I had grabbed sushi while in AdMo, so I was surprised to see Izumi pop up just a 4 minute walk away. When I walked in, it as during an off-peak time so the restaurant only had a few other diners. I was seated immediately and my order was taken promptly after a quick review of the menu. My food came out so quickly - within just a few minutes actually for my first item (shrimp shumai.) The shumai portion was generous and my sushi roll (Sun Raise roll) came out soon thereafter and it was so fresh and delicious! As soon I finished up my food, a server returned to see if I wanted to order anything else. I was perfectly full so took the check, paid and was in and out in less than 30 minutes total. When the original date night plan fell through, I was not about to let the night go to waste. So, we did a quick search, found something nearby (because circling the block for parking again was NOT happening), and landed on Izumi. And let me tell you, Izumi delivered. The moment we walked in, it was like a breath of fresh air. We were instantly greeted, seated, and handed menus. No waiting, no guessing--just pure efficiency. Once we regrouped from the chaos of the evening, we focused on the menu. Despite our earlier mishap, we were determined to have ramen, one way or another. When the server came back, I asked for her recommendation. She suggested the Tonkotsu Ramen with chicken, but when bae decided to order the same thing except the spicy one, I had to switch it up because variety is the spice of life. I went with the Spicy Miso Ramen with chicken. The ramen arrived quickly, with the chicken served on the side. Let me just say, the chicken portions were generous. It was karaage-style--breaded, oversized chicken bites that were delicious but definitely needed breaking down to fit into the ramen bowl. And speaking of spicy, that Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen must've had some serious heat because bae was sniffling and coughing with every slurp. (Pro tip: bring tissues.) Now, here's where my eyes got bigger than my stomach: I'd also ordered a Spicy Crunchy Shrimp Roll and a Sake Martini. The ramen alone was so filling that I barely had room for the sushi, but I pushed through--and I'm glad I did. The sushi? Absolute star of the night. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. It wasn't spicy at all, so they should probably just call it the Crunchy Shrimp Roll, but it was still a 10/10. The Sake Martini was chilled to perfection and very strong. Bae said it reminded him of Robitussin (sake really is an acquired taste), but I enjoyed it. Toward the end of the meal, the service slowed down a bit--I had to wave someone down for the check and a to-go box. But honestly? I didn't mind. Up until that point, the staff had been incredibly attentive. Everyone who walked by checked on us--it felt like a team effort to make sure we were taken care of, and I appreciated that. The total for everything came to $61.03, which felt like a steal for the quality and quantity of food. I'd absolutely return, especially for the sushi and the stellar customer service. Izumi turned a potentially disastrous date night into a win, and for that, they've earned a spot on my go-to list. Final thoughts: Skip the Robitussin jokes and go easy on the sake martinis, but do not skip the sushi. You'll thank me later. read more

I got Izumi delivered via Uber Eats for dinner this past Saturday. I had no idea there was an izakaya all the way in AdMo, but glad I was able to find it on the app. SUSHI SET DELUXE - 22.95 +2 since it was ordered off of Uber Eats. This set comes with 10 nigiris and one spicy tuna inside out roll. The spicy tuna had a fat portion of minced and spiced tuna for the amount of rice they wrapped around. I didn't love the spicy tuna but I can see why it's popular. The 10 nigiri I got were 1 shrimp, 1 albacore (?), 2 yellowtails, 2 white tunas, 2 tunas, and 2 salmons. I don't really like white tuna or shrimp, but beggars can't be choosers when it comes to chef's choice. The albacore and tuna were pretty OK, but pretty forgettable. Salmon was pretty standard and the yellowtail was my favorite. The rice had a good amount of vinegar and had a good texture. Overall, not bad for the price. The food was packaged very well. I would have to check out Izumi in person to try the other izakaya options. read more

Came here for dinner after porch fest ended. It was pretty crowded as expected but we didn't have to wait long for a table. I did a quick google search and this restaurant looked the most aesthetically, pleasing decor wise, and food wise. It's a small restaurant, but it does have a cute look to it. My server was a woman. I don't remember her name, but she was very sweet. I decided to get four different rolls, I got the Mango Salmon roll (6 rolls) and Yellowtail roll (4 rolls) off their lunch menu. The Mango salmon roll was juicy and with a hint of sweetness to it. The yellowtail roll wasn't too memorable. Next i ordered the Dancing Dragon roll and the Play boy roll. Now let me tell you......the Play Boy Roll was my favorite!! It was delicious, with a crunch on the inside, and the size of the roll was HUGE! The Dancing Dragon roll was good as well, it had a hint of mango inside of it. For being the only person there at the time, they did take a longer time making my rolls, especially with two cooks behind the sushi counter. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because everyone was on their phones, including the cooks. Also a man (I'm assuming the owner) sat down at the bar and got on a phone call, and was talking very loudly for a long period of time. At Izumi I ordered the spicy yellowtail roll which was good fresh and fairly priced at $8. The pork belly skewer was juicy and well seasoned. I also ordered the tonkotsu ramen which sadly brought the whole experience down for me to the point where i was wondering why they would even put it on the menu. The broth was seriously lacking flavor and honestly tasted like a premade ramen packet. If you come here I would stick with the sushi and skewers as those are done well but steer clear of the ramen. I've ordered from Izumi atleast three times via uber eats. I really enjoy the miso soup and all of the sushi that I have tried. I'm a beginner sushi eater so I stick with the basics. Most recently, I tried the salmon teriyaki bento box. It's quite a bit of food at a reasonable price point. My only critique is please separate the spring roll and gyoza when sending by delivery. Mine were all soggy when they arrived from the teriyaki sauce spilling over. Also, for full transparency please list the ingredients of the gyoza on the uber menu. Our server was friendly and gave us some of his favorites as recommendations since the whole menu looked yummy. We tried the gyoza, spring rolls, sashimi lunch and chicken teriyaki. My husband and I went to try this new Japanese restaurant and were not disappointed. The interior of the restaurant is nicely decorated. Staff is lovely and provided courteous services. We ordered some appetizers and they were all served with high quality. It was amazing delicious! We also ordered sushi/sashimi set and chirashi for main entree. I really liked all of the fish! Everything was made in the shop which was nice, there wasn't a fishy smell or anything. My biggest gripe about the food was that the spicy edamame was steamed edamame with a sauce you could dip it in, and I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce.
