Hibachi! We stopped in to this Japanese vibe restaurant as one of our last dinners capping off a 5700 mile Route 66 cross country trip. Everything seemed very clean in the Sushi bar, dining and Hibachi areas. Our server brought drinks and took our orders right after we were seated. She then brought out our salad and soup. The souped was a clear mushroom broth with crispy onions and the salad had a very good creamy dressing. Our chef cam out and performed a great show as he prepared our meal. The food was all very good. I had the Hibachi chicken and shrimp an my wife had the hibachi steak and shrimp. Both came with fried rice that had a healthy portion of garlic butter that used in the preparation along with teriyaki sauce. Top this with some yum yum sauce and mmmm was it good. My only critique is that the chef saved some egg aside to cut up for us to catch in our mouth however he didn't get to it until all of the meals were finished and on the plates and everyone was eating. Not a bad thing just would have been better timed during the preparation instead of when we were eating. Overall this was a great experience and we would come back again.

Came here recently for a dinner with friends. We sat on the restaurant side and looked through the large menu. Some of us got hibachi, I got California rolls and sesame chicken with fried rice. The food came quickly and tasted great! Overall, good portion sizes and came out how we liked. The server was almost too friendly. I would come back again and would like to try several more things on the menu.

We went to Izumi Steakhouse for a big family outing and had an awesome time! The food was great, and everyone loved the experience. Service was pretty good as well. I wish they had a few more vegetarian options, and a little price friendly but overall everything was delicious and the atmosphere was fun and lively. Great spot for family dinners or celebrations!

Tried something new for lunch. Decided on bento box lunch with crab rangoon, spicy salmon roll and general tso shrimp along with soup and salad. Absolutely would order again This place formerly known as Osaka and now under new ownership Izumi Japenese Steak House and Chinese fusion!

I travel quite a bit for work so I'm on the road and I'm usually stopping at new places, but I took my family here and was absolutely blown away by the service and their attentiveness to my wife's allergies, their menu was simple which speaks volumes to the quality that the chefs will be putting out, their drink menu was superb and they didn't miss on a single facet of the experience.

I'll admit I was a little bit disappointed with the experience. The ambiance is very nice. The restaurant was in the downtown area very close to the mississippi river. There seemed to be a lot happening at the other establishments. In the area. The service was efficient , although we weren't a big fan of our server. One of the things that bothered me was when our bill came and they have those handheld machines that cash you out , the server stood over the top of us waiting to see how much gratuity we were gonna apply to our check. That's one thing that should never be done in a nicer place. The food was decent. The brussels sprout salad was absolutely fantastic. We ordered four different entrees. The swordfish , the salmon , lamb meatballs and a pasta dish. All came out hot looking really nice and had multiple components. Some of the dishes lacked seasoning and the overall wow factor. The bill came out to $240 with one salad , four entrees and five alcoholic drinks. Very reasonable fo four people at a nice place. We didn't order dessert, but I would've liked to try the cheesecake.

The recent remodel looks fantastic -- clean, modern, and a cool vibe without trying too hard. The food was next level. I had the lobster filet combo (not typically a surf-and-turf guy, especially in Iowa), and it exceeded expectations. Perfectly cooked steak, great seafood, and everything plated well. But the real star? The crab cakes. Do not skip them. Easily the highlight of the meal. Old Fashioneds were on point too -- well balanced and done right. Between the atmosphere, the quality of the food, and the overall experience, this spot is absolutely worth it. Great pre-show dinner location and just a solid night out overall. Highly recommend!

They were fine - nothing outstanding. The dressing could have had more flavor and there weren't many croutons. I ordered the fried shrimp my friend ordered the ribeye. The shrimp were cooked well, but the breading was very cakey and didn't seem to be cooked all the way through. There was no crunch and really no flavor. Definitely lacking salt and any other flavor. I peeled the breading off and ate the shrimp alone. My friend's said his ribeye was just okay and it didn't have any seasoning - not even salt which always enhances the flavor of meat. For the price, I don't think it delivered. It's just fine.

Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu, thorough, and checked in with us at the right frequency (often enough to be helpful, but not so often as to be interrupting). The food was mostly good, but had some misses. I had the prime rib as my main course. I ordered it medium-rare. It was melt-in-your-mouth terrific. As far as I could tell it was seasoned very simply with just salt and pepper. Normally I am a horseradish guy--it was supplied with au jus and horseradish sauce--but the flavor of the meat was so good that the sauces actually detracted from it. The asparagus side was disappointing. It was prepared very well--looked like it was grilled--and was seasoned well. The problem was the quality of the asparagus itself. Granted that we are not exactly in-season for good quality asparagus, but I expect a high end restaurant to at least make sure the ends are trimmed adequately to ensure there are no tough bits left. My wife had the vegetable pasta and reported that it was good. My kid had the kids' pepperoni pizza. Again, I was disappointed in this. It was overcooked. He normally doesn't eat the crust anyway, but when I tried to eat the leftover crusts, I found them to be really hard. Also the pepperoni was seared to the point that it was hard and crispy. The desserts looked so good, I had to try two. The salted caramel cheesecake was excellent. It was light and fluffy, while still being rich and not overly sweet. I also had the lemon blueberry cake, which was a new addition to their offerings. This was good, but the cheesecake definitely outshone it. Prices were on the high side, but not outrageous. Overall, this was a mixed bag. I would eat here again on the strength of how good the meat was. I would definitely be interested in trying one of their steaks in the future. Given the prices, I wouldn't do it very often though.

We dined on February 13th-we were excited, as our reservation was made due to an enthusiastic review of a friend. There was a bit of a show from the owner when he was introducing the featured items, which we found endearing. The drinks were good, although hardly uniform, as multiple people in our party ordered the same drink but they were served in different glasses with varying levels of alcohol. The menu was heavy on the steak and seafood, and there were no prices listed. We ordered the duck (signature dish) and the crab legs. No mention from the waitress on any pricing (and shame on us for not asking). The meal was good, although nothing outstanding. We were happy with our experience until the bill came. The crab legs alone were $300!!! Our jaws hit the floor. We have dined in many upscale restaurants (Manhattan, Miami, Chicago) and we have NEVER paid close to that price tag for crab legs. We spoke to the owner Jerry, and he issued excuse after excuse. He stated that he paid "$100 per pound" and our order consisted of 1.5 pounds...so we were up-charged $150?! He was incredibly defensive and non-apologetic regarding our experience. Our take home point to him was if you're going to charge that amount of money for a singular menu item, you need to disclose the price when people order. Our bill was over $500 for mediocre food and left us with such a poor experience. That's more than we spend on an entire month dining out. We felt swindled and taken advantage of. Shame on us for not asking the price, and shame on Jerry and this restaurant for charging such an outrageous price for a menu item. BEWARE!!! We will never eat here again-largely because of the terrible response we got from the owner when we expressed our frustration and the lack of transparency with the menu.
