Bad ambience experience as a group of small children, with their parents, screamed at the top of their lungs during the entire course of our dinner. When I asked the manager to speak to them about keeping it down or dealing with the upset children outside, which is what would happen in most families, she was uncomfortable doing so. The dad came over and insulted me for being unkind to two-year-olds and saying I was the problem. Why bring two year-olds to a nice restaurant and let them scream and ruin everyone else's experience? Apparently Izumi is along the lines of Arby's or McDonald's and we won't be there much anymore. This is too bad because we are regulars from Great Falls and have admired how much Izumi has improved their service over the last several years. I've been on a sushi streak for the last two months, and this sushi restaurant caught my attention because I happened to be in the same shopping center. I didn't have a ton of time to dine in and it was great that they offer take-out. Although the restaurant itself was very modern and the place had a relaxed vibe. The 10 piece California Roll combo was the most familiar option, and I've learned from experience you can never go wrong with California Rolls. I ordered Yu Shan Chicken, as well as Beef with Spring onions... BOTH dishes were completely wrong. The beef with spring onions didn't have a SINGLE green onion. ZERO. The Yu Shan Chicken dish did not have any mushrooms or bamboo shoots... additionally the Yu Shan which indicates "spicy" with a fire icon was possibly one of the sweeeeetest dishes I've ever had. To label it as "Spicy," even for the underdeveloped layman is QUITE a stretch. I have lived in Great Falls for 20 years and have been to Izumi many many times since it first opened. And let me say this with a heavy heart that... the service here has ALWAYS been abysmal. Every. Single time. The server appears annoyed while taking orders, bringing out waters for the table, and even when we asked to wipe down the dirty booth they've sat us in. These behavior was a pattern for YEARS. Izumi Sushi has been a delivery lunch favorite of mine this year. I've been seeking fresh, quality sushi with lunch deals and this is the spot. They're located in Great Falls but I've never dined here, only delivery, which has never disappointed. I usually get a 3 roll combo for $15.50, the options are plentiful and not basic. They do also have lunch chirashi which I've tried, and a sashimi special with California roll for about $20. I've tried their hibachi which is great; most recently I got the shrimp and vegetable tempura hibachi and it was excellent. For the sushi, it is always fresh and tastes amazing, even being delivered. My favorites are the spicy white tuna roll and the salmon avocado. The sashimi is excellent and the white tuna here is so fresh. The salmon is also buttery and melts in your mouth. I recommend this place for high quality sushi. read more

The crispy Sweet Potato with eel sauce hit the spot! So good that I didn't even need to request for spicy mayo. The Garden Veggie Maki roll was okay. While it was packed with veggies - cucumber, avocado, asparagus, lettuce, mango - the roll was quite bland. Would be nice for the roll to be topped with a drizzle of soy sauce or spicy mayo or at least an option for an upcharge. The Seaweed Salad with Ponzu dressing was fine, it has a bit too much sauce and quite pricey at $8 on UberEats. The Tofu Teriyaki was okay with chunks of crispy tofu, broccoli, carrots, snap peas - the Teriyaki sauce was very thick and served on the side. Would be nice if the veggies were cooked in the sauce. We've driven past this place a million times, and not sure why we never ate or ordered from Izumi Sushi. I guess we thought we'd order Chinese from a Chinese restaurant, not a Japanese-Chinese place. We decided to order from here today and it wasn't bad at all. We ordered the Spicy Girl Roll, Hot and Sour Soup, Singapore Noodles, Triple Delight and Shredded Spicy Crispy Beef. Everything tasted fresh, clean and descent. It is Great Falls, so a bit on the pricier side but they were quick, clean and this place is convenient. I was near home and headed to Safeway, so I figured this would be better than grocery store sushi and I was right! California roll- perfectly acceptable @ for $5.50 for 6 pieces. Hubs doesn't like avocado so I was able to switch out cuke. Great simple rolls that are difficult to mess up. Fancy roll - $16 for eight pieces. deep fried lobster tail, avocado and mango sauce wrapped in a pink soy wrapper. Great if you're like me and not a seaweed fan (I'm a bad Asian). Totally delicious, but a bit pricey. For take out, the fried lobster got a bit soggy, as the mango sauce soaked into everything. Hubs got the Spicy Girl Roll, but I don't think he's a fan of raw fish. The food is not bad, but there's definitely better sushi/Japanese food in the area for a similar price. My friend and I got takeout lunch from here (great that they do takeout during the pandemic!); she got two 6-piece rolls and I got the salmon bento box. Our food did not come with soy sauce, and there was no soy sauce to pick up in store either, which was a bummer -- we ended up eating our sushi with the teriyaki sauce meant for my entree. The food did not taste bad, but was clearly a Westernized interpretation of Japanese food. The sushi rolls were small, and had a lot of rice. The salad consists of iceberg lettuce served with a ginger carrot dressing that was creamy (? - maybe dairy based). The shumai was solid, but the California roll (3 pieces/bento box) and salmon were fine but unremarkable (granted, they were eaten without soy sauce). Izumi would be a suitable spot if you were in Great Falls Village and craving sushi, but based on my experience I'm not sure I'd return here. read more

We came here for a special occasion and found the atmosphere of the restaurant pretty chill. There were more people than you would expect for a Monday afternoon. As appetizers, we ordered a Miso soup and an order of Shumai, which arrived within 5 minutes. Unlike other reviews, we thought the Miso soup was pretty good. As for the Shumai, it was steamed and tasty, we really enjoyed it. For the main sushi entrees (8 rolls per order) we had: - Dancing Eel Roll: these were our favorite, a must have! - Tiger Roll: not tempura as offered in other restaurants; it was pretty good. We went to the Great Falls Park because today is a free admission day. I hadn't had anything to eat, and this was in the closest shopping center. Since there was a bench set up outside, we decided to get some food. I ordered the lunch special, Una don, and one a la carte ootoro sushi (this was a risk, but I craved it so badly). I also got a lettuce salad and miso soup accompanying the una don. Overall... very good. It was delicious. Granted, I was also hungry, but the flavor was quite good. Had some lunch takeout here again. Food was good, the sashimi was fresh. I also got 2 rolls: the Salmon avocado roll and a Philadelphia roll. I think they have the best Philadelphia roll i have had in the area. Food was good, it was about $23 for the entire meal. I dod not get the miso soup as i did not like (see prev review). The salad was good, it came with a nice ginger dressing that was not too watery. Overall for two salads and 22 pieces of sushi for lunch, $23 is a little pricey but it was a close drive.... Not the BAD: well when i was picking up my order i asked the cashier for extra wasabi. She said it would cost extra....slowly I am losing more and more of my patience with this place in terms of their small fees and ridiculous add-on fees. I declined and just paid for my lunch. If someone is spending $23 on lunch for takeout, i think extra wasabi should be included. I have never heard of a restaurant charging extra for WASABI!! I would rate this place 4 stars but the service, and price of food holds me back from doing so. Today's lunch was very nice - the sushi is fresh and the presentation was very creative. We sat near the window, so the lighting was better, and our server tried very hard, but I think she needs a little more experience. Overall, I am becoming a bigger fan of Izumi, as they work out the kinks during the first year of business. I was pleasantly surprised to several vegetarian rolls: Cucumber Roll, Asparagus Roll, Avocado Roll, Sweet Potato Roll, Mango & Avocado Roll, Vegetable Tempura Roll, and Garden Maki Roll. I was looking for a place in NoVa for a sushi place that offered specialty sushi rolls. I ordered the following: - Indian Pancake: This is their version of Roti Canai and its delicious. The curry was so good that I made sure I didn't leave any. - Vegetable Tempura Roll: DELICIOUS - Garden Maki Roll: Good I asked them to add Picked Radish, which they did after charging me 0.50 cents for each order. The service is awful. We ordered Edamame as an appetizer. We waited 15 minutes, saw other people who came after me being served spring rolls, but our Edamame was no where in sight. When we asked our waitress (who simply disappeared and never checked on us), she went back to the computer and added the order. Yup she forgot but never accepted her mistake. She said 'Oh the chef is busy and is preparing the Edamame now'. I mean come on, who prepares Edamame? And how did other people who ordered after us get their spring rolls? Anyways - the service just sucks. The food is very good, especially if you are a vegetarian and are looking for a sushi place. I was actually pretty impressed. We had been struggling to find decent sushi places in the Reston area, so we decided to give Izumi a try. The place is pretty nicely decorated inside- typical sushi cafe style. The service was friendly and attentive the whole time, no complaints there. As for the food, I decided to get three rolls- cucumber, california and a chicken tempura roll. (Still can't eat most seafood...) The rolls were huge, especially the chicken tempura roll. Yes, its an Americanized sushi roll, but it was delicious. All three were fairly fresh tasting, and I actually left full, which is a rarity for me at a sushi place. My fiancee's dragon roll looked delicious as well, but sadly I can't vouch for the taste. I would definitely come back. read more

Probably my favorite sushi spot around Reston so far. We love the nuruto roll (cucumber), ocean, tiger, great falls and seaweed salad. The service is always fast and friendly. You don't normally need reservations other than a Friday around 6/7 probably. I think the prices are also fair for the sushi and speciality rolls. read more

Stop doubling your prices for Uber eats delivery. It's already enough to pay the delivery fee/ tip. A dynamic roll is usually 12 dollars but on Uber eats it charged 18 dollars. That is absurd. Also you're charging 15 dollars for fried rice without any proteins? Highway robbery. read more
