Solid sushi spot in Vienna. We ordered a bunch of items, starting off with the takoyaki and the gyoza. The takoyaki was really good, and the sauce went with it nicely. The gyoza was good as well but nothing special. We ordered several sushi rolls as well, along with salmon and yellowtail sashimi. I don't eat a ton of sushi/sashimi, but both tasted very fresh and were tasty. I ordered the kakuni donburi for my main, and it was also tasty. The only complaint I have is I wished it had more of the Japanese pickles. Service was solid, no complaints. The restaurant is very cute. At first glance it doesn't look like it has much seating, but there is an upstairs area as well with more seating. I would definitely come again! read more

I've worked at the neighboring Sushi restaurant across from this place. Sometime a month or two ago, I got off of my shift and came inside this establishment. One of the taller workers who's sitting down on the table, scoots out aggressively, walks up to my face with his chest puffed out and stares me down with a "Can I help you sir!?". I didn't take it as a threat, but the ambiance within the room made it feel like I was unwanted in the establishment. I simply smiled, walked passed him and asked if I could look at the menu. I then order 1 Mochi piece. I find it a bit strange that a singular piece is 5 dollars but that's besides the point. The same server opens the refrigerator and pulls out the Mochi with his Bare Hands that I witnessed him use to eat his food and wipe his face before I walked into that door. I actually live in Japan and eat mochi regularly. There was nothing special about that Mochi in taste being 5 dollars. The entire strip where this is located is amazing, every establishment treats neighboring staff kindly, EXCEPT for this place. I've been to other Kusshi's and this is by far my least favorite one. I don't like to give out low reviews as this is my first ever one. But this is just improper etiquette. read more

Ate here last night. Good was pretty good. I went a little bit after six because I saw a photo on here that happy hour ends at 6:30 but it didn't. It ended at six. Luckily the waitress was really nice and still honored it. Adding the new happy hour menu here. I feel like there were some decent deals there, but then other stuff didn't seem great overall I enjoyed it, but don't feel like I really ordered the right things. Ok I have been here before but again forgot to take pictures of my food or drink because I was a fight for my life in there. Now I really do love they have an upstairs sitting area which I have the last time I was here. I wanted to sit there, but there was a swarm of gnats or fruit flies everywhere!! Now I was thinking it was maybe just in the upstairs sitting area...no they were in the entire restaurant! I couldn't even enjoy my miso soup without having to continually swat them to not accidentally have any of them land on my food. When I ordered my sushi I couldn't even eat because I had to immediately put napkins over the sushi so nothing would land on my food! I ended up moving outside which was way better than sitting in the restaurant and this is why I have to give them a 3-star. Because this is very unsanitary as they were EVERYWHERE! Customers shouldn't have to be swatting gnats the entire time we are trying to eat. So I don't have any pictures of my food as I was scared one might land on my sushi. The Tokyo Tea was really good I think I had 3 of them. The wait staff were really nice...but they need to get those gnats under control. Kusshi is a wonderful gem somewhat "hidden" in the far left corner of Pike 7 Plaza. I visited on a Wednesday night and was surprised there was a good amount of people having dinner. There is seating downstairs as well as seating upstairs. The store is beautiful and clean with Japanese inspired wall paintings and floral decor. Our server for the night was Kat who did an amazing job. Very attentive, personable, and friendly. For a party of 3 we opted to try one of the sushi boats, specifically the "row boat" with 76pc. Everything is made fresh and tastes fresh. We loved everything from the sushi boat except for one of the rolls which I believe is the firecracker roll only because it was a lot spicier than we expected it to be so we couldn't finish that one. Sits in the Corner of a mall like plaza. Walked in and asked if they were open and then offered to have seating on the ground floor or upstairs. I chose upstairs. Was seated at a place with a view of the staff building my delicious meal. I ordered a sushi tartare, Obi and rainbow roll. All were tasty. The Obi was the most interesting. Dangerous mistake. I called ahead to ask if I was allowed to do a pickup order with a sesame allergy, they said yes of course. I wrote a note for each item on the online ordering system "SESEAME ALLERGY" and it shows printed clearly on the receipt. When I picked up, I made sure one final time to ask the manager to make sure there was no sesame, he promised there wasn't. I drove all the way back home, and whatdoyaknow... sesame seeds everywhere. It was also surprisingly family friendly which is always refreshing with little ones. We ordered gyoza (with the option of steamed, pan-fried, OR deep fried!) and adegashi tofu to start, 3 rolls (Cherry Blossom, Volcano, and Chesapeake), as well as the shrimp tempura katsu curry entree. My son absolutely loved the adegashi tofu mixed with rice and my typically picky eater daughter was a big fan of the curry. The fish on the rolls were fresh and the slices were generous. For those who partake, they also had a great selection of Japanese beers (Orion FTW) and sakes as well. The staff is friendly and all of our dishes came out in a timely manner. Had high hopes for this place... but... first impression, fruit flies all over our table... had to move... still had fruit flies, though not as many as upstairs. Decided to tough it out as it was getting late. Had the speed boat and chicken curry katau. Chicken curry katsu was bland, chicken was fried well but the curry was disappointing. Sushi was good but then when we got home, we were all parched and thirsty which usually means there was a lot of MSG. The only bad sushi was the octopus which had a strong fishy taste. Very delicious with affordable options! My bf and I decided to come here during Black Friday.... But no lines and also we didn't want to die in the Tysons traffic - we just wanted some yummy sushi. There's an upstairs section, downstairs section, and an outside area for dining. We decided to opt for the upstairs view, just to see everything and wow.. kudos to the staff for walking up with our food lol I feel like I would die walking up there with food (spiral-ish stairs). Kusshi has several locations, and I'm glad that I was able to try this spot out. They had delicious appetizers, chirashi, and we tried some sushi options such as the seared salmon belly, tiger roll, and (I think?) dragon roll. Everything was superb and arrived in a timely manner, and also with beautiful presentation. From our viewpoint, we can also see the sushi being made from essentially a bird's eye view. Our favorite portion of the meal was of course the seared salmon belly... so definitely try that if you're a salmon lover! There's also a happy hour menu here, so maybe if I'm in the area and there's traffic, I'd stop by here to kill some time and eat some sushi! I did order sushi for delivery from here and my driver was not timely with the delivery so I am sure the fish would have been fresher in person. However, everything I tried was pretty yummy! I just got basic salmon nigiri, a salmon roll, and a yellowtail and scallion roll. All were great and not fishy but tasted fresh enough. I also tried the chicken yakisoba which was decently tasty and had a lot of flavor both from the sauce and the inclusion of lots of veggies. If you have trouble deciding what roll to order, I highly recommend the Phoenix roll!! It was the perfectly crispy and crunchy and you just can't go wrong with shrimp tempura with spicy tuna on top. Also we ordered takoyaki and I loved that they put lots of bonito flakes. I think the vibes of this place downstairs is a lot more casual but upstairs is pretty cute with little floral decorations on the stair rails. I went in a group of three for happy hour and our total bill ended up bring less than $100 which I thought was a great deal considering the amount we ordered! They have multiple locations spread out around the DMV area but their Tyson's location is conveniently located off Route 7 with plenty of parking. They have good happy hour deals and occasionally have coupons that pop up on their social media pages making a visit much more worth it. They offer all the standard maki and classic rolls in addition to some more unique specialty rolls and sashimi. The Chirashi was a good portion and had quality sashimi slices over a bed of rice. I went for the veggie gyoza and ramen fully loaded. Everything was packed up nice and tight, so there was no leakage in the bag. And the presentation for being delivery was still spot on! I love sushi and recently discovered Kusshi Ko on Tiktok, so decided to give this place a try! We were seated at the upstairs dining area, which was like an open balcony feel that overlooks the sushi chefs (great for people-watching!) We also got an amazing view of the artwork on the wall, which beautifully represented Asian culture with some of the zodiac animals. We ordered an assortment of specialty rolls, including Cherry Blossom, Ovi, Lava, and Crunchy. The Lava was so delicious and creamy with so many different flavors and textures.
