I had a lovely experience at Old Ferry Donut (San Gabriel). I ordered the Tiramisu Donut ($4.95)…read more It's a fluffy, BIG donut that tastes like a decadent tiramisu. It's also filled with a light, soft cream. DELICIOUS! I arrived at Old Ferry Donut (San Gabriel) on a Wednesday (around 3:42PM). Parking is simple. There's a competitive customer parking lot. And there's a city public parking lot about a two minute walk away. Staff is very friendly, professional, and welcoming. Staff maintained a bright smile throughout my visit. Staff immediately helped me. Customers can order at the self-service kiosk or counter; however, the kiosk felt very dated & the prices on the kiosk felt less transparent. I recommend just ordering at the counter. There's no penalty for using card at this donut establishment. As mentioned, I love the Tiramisu Donut ($4.95). It's not too sweet; rather, it all felt balanced. However, this is a VERY messy donut; I recommend eating this donut with a fork and knife. The powder fall everywhere, and your clothes can quickly get stained with chocolate powder. Still, it's a delicious pastry. On ambiance, Old Ferry Donut (San Gabriel) is comfortable. This business is more reminiscent of a cafe than a typical donut shop. There's customer internet with password; details on the counter. There's a gender neutral restroom. And there's an electrical outlet & outlet adaptor for devices. The location is fairly small; there's one interior table and one small counter. Fortunately, this place felt airy and well-ventilated. There's also some upbeat, fun music in this clean spot. Overall, I found unexpected joy at Old Ferry Donut (San Gabriel). There's sincere passion & hard work within these walls. If searching for a special donut for a special someone, this is an easy spot to recommend. 4.9 out of 5! Go!

Ordered a single shot espresso and the very popular butter pistachio donut. It was HUGE. I shared it with a co-worker as I knew there was just no way I alone could finish it. This thing was decadent... and totally up anyone's alley who has a severe sweet tooth. I typically do not like overly sweet things, but I have to admit, this was very good. The espresso was good and strong, and for me, a single shot was more than enough to get me through my morning. As I was the only customer in the place at the time, service was quick and friendly. I will definitely be back to try other donuts!

We came in for dinner with a group and ordered one of their set menus for 6 people. It's honestly an incredible deal, it comes with a whole Peking duck and a bunch of great dishes, including the shrimp with vermicelli, beef in soup, broccoli, salad, sweet and sour pork ribs, and a 6-item appetizer platter. The food tasted fantastic, though the portion sizes for the set felt a little light for 6 fully grown adults. To make sure everyone was full, we added an order of their famous braised noodles with pork ribs, which absolutely hit the spot. The service was highly impressive and completely matches the new elevated vibe of the restaurant. We had such a great experience that we're actually coming back again next week for a birthday celebration. Highly recommend checking out their new look!

Between the four of us, we shared seven dishes - Jellyfish Salad, 1/2 Peiking Duck, Mapo Tofu, KungPao Shrimp, Green Beans, Cold Noodles, and Grilled Eggplant. Everything was delicious, and I do have to say that the food was quite authentic. I did take away 2 stars because the service was mixed. We had made a reservation for 4 PM and received a phone call at 1 PM asking us to come earlier - I've honestly never encountered this situation before / it kind of defeats the purpose of making a reservation. When arriving, we did have two male servers who were AMAZING and tentative. Another note on service - when we ordered the 1/2 duck, there were not enough condiments and sides (hoisin sauce, cucumbers, onions, wraps). My father asked if we could have an additional set, and the female server rudely explained that we would have to pay for an additional set. We have 0 problem paying for an extra set; however, the tone of the response was unsettling. Restaurants have to understand that people come to try the food, but we always return for the service!

You walk in thinking, "I'll just grab a quick bowl," and suddenly there's a noodle master stretching dough like he's training for the Olympics. Their Lanzhou-style noodles? Fresh, chewy, and honestly a little too good--they'll ruin instant ramen for you forever. The Lan noodle soup is so rich and savory. The died mixed noodle feels like a warm hug... if hugs came with chili oil and a kick that sneaks up on you. It's a small, busy spot, so yeah, you might wait--but don't worry, the line moves fast. Plus, it gives you time to emotionally prepare for choosing your noodle shape. Thin? Wide? Triangle? This is not a decision to take lightly. One wrong move and you'll be thinking about it halfway through your bowl like, "I should've gone wider."

They have a small and large sweet and sour chicken rice plate. I had gotten the small size just to try it out, but it was surprisingly good (5/5). The pork sandwich bun was decent (4/5) since the beef was tasty but the sandwich bun could be better. We also had the traditional beef noodle soups with either the wide flat and triangle ones. You can't go wrong with these freshly made pulled noodles, and they are very hearty portions. Flavor is good and the beef is very tender. The smashed cucumbers were decent also (4/5), but nothing spectacular about them. Service is very quick, attentive and pleasant. This is a good go to spot for a quick meal. The dining room doesn't seat a lot of people so try not to come during busy dining hours on weekends to avoid a long wait.

Although I'm not a huge fan of the empanada dish itself, this didn't leave a bad first impression. Service is A1! They explained how to eat it, what flavors they had, and what to eat it with. Sauces and what not. I bought a dozen empanadas. 3 Birria, 3 Spicy Asada, 3 pizza ones, and 3 chicken ones. The one I enjoyed most was the spicy asada ones. They also offer chimichurri sauce and consome for the birria empanadas. Ambiance is like a small mom and pop shop. The time I went, which was a little early, still had some foot traffic. Parking is a problem there but you can always park across the street and walk across she street via crosswalk to get to the establishment (very short walk)
