Somehow it just seemed easier to drop off shirts here than at my usual cleaners (where parking at any time of the day had been so busy). My husbands shirts came back perfect so I then dropped off linens. I now find myself bringing all my laundry and dry cleaning needs. The owner is kind and welcoming. Street parking is easy, but I don't go during the lunch hour or the end of the business day, which I imagine does get busy. Prices are reasonable. I've had no issues. read more

This is my go-to cleaners! I've been coming here for years and they have always taken good care of our clothes and anything else such as down comforters and drapes. The owner will check your items carefully for stains to clean and also give recommendations on what to do and not do for certain stains as soon as you get them on your clothes, to avoid making the stain worse. We also bring all our clothes for alternations and repairs here. They do an excellent and professional job each time. And they have never lost any of my clothes. The prices are reasonable and fair. $34 for two suits, $22 for one long dress. Someone had vomited on my dress, and I had been walking the messy streets of Chinatown so this dress was sad and so dirty. I was going to give up on it and my husband told me to give it another chance and take it to the cleaners. For $22 it can live to see another party. The dress is completely clean like brand new (if you don't count the tears i put on the bottom with my heel - oops!). Great spot. Friendly service. I don't get too much stuff dry cleaned so I'm not sure if the prices are good or not but they got my dress clean so I'm happy. Definitely bringing more stuff here. read more

They do everything on-site, and they do it quickly, too! I've been to other "dry-cleaners" where you have to drop off your things by 10am, or you have to wait an extra day, because they ship everything out to get it done... but not J & C! Comforters, coats, pants, shirts- give them anything, they will make them sparkly and new like you have never worn them. I am quite clumsy and there are many dresses of mine which i have spilt stuff on, and thank God for J&C, they make my mistakes vanish! I was drawn to the El Camino location for much the same reason as most of his clientele... "My prices. Very reasonable." The guy behind the counter? He's the owner. The equipment you see peeking out in the back? The whole plant. If you ask him, he'll explain to you how he's been in the business for 15 years, how back when he opened the store he had to go to school and be licensed, how those who open the store now just contract the work to someone else who doesn't care about their customers, how what brings people back to his store is the service and caring. I would give this place 10 stars if I can!! So I spilled something over my bed, and got two comforters soaking wet. It was 1pm on Saturday and this place was the only cleaner that was willing to get my comforters cleaned within one day!!!! So I dropped off my comforters at 2:30pm, and came back at 4:30pm (which is when I'm writing this review). The owner said it will not be done until 5:30pm. They are supposed to close at 5pm but are willing to open later just to finish drying my comforters. What else can I say? Life saverrrr!!!! I will have comforters to sleep with tonightttttt!!!! I brought in 2 pairs of Costco bought boys' pants to get hemmed. I picked them up and was told "$32". I told the owner I thought that was a lot of money for that type of job (I looked up other local prices on the same job and see $10/pair) and he said "if it was $1,000 pants we would charge the same thing". If I had bought $1,000 pants, a) I would not have brought them there, and B) the store would have altered them for free, anyway. Nice job on the pants but if you are going to really charge me basically what I paid for the kids' pants just to hem them, please let me know in advance that your prices are 50% higher than average. read more

He also seems to remember every single customer by name which I find to be a great sign of a small business who cares about their customers. I come in 1-2 times a week to drop off my husband's police uniforms. Not only are they extremely affordable but the uniforms are perfectly pressed each time. Only been here twice. While I can say staff was nice, the 2 stars are solely due to their high prices which will force me to go elsewhere. Their prices are almost double of other dry cleaners I have gone to and considering I have to use the cleaners on a weekly basis, I can't afford to waste money. Update: I am reducing them from 2 stars to 1 star. I have only gone back here a few times in the last 4 months since my first review mainly due to their quick turn around time. My dry cleaning was done in 24 hours BUT the creases were way off. They gave me "train tracks" (double creases which were zigzagged) instead of a single crease but more importantly, my uniform smells like it was hanging out in my grandmother's closet as there is a really strong and pungent mothball odor on my clothes. read more

Told her I definitely have not and she then tried to say oh it must have been with another lady working when I dropped it off??? Made no sense. Told her that I don't care what lady I dropped it off with. She pretended to look for it by shuffling around a rack of shirts at the back, I then saw it up high on the rail and told her to bring it down. Researched a number of cleaners in the area when we moved to the neighborhood a few years ago and after trying out J&C we never turned back. I think this cleaners is great - the owner is such a hard-working, kind man that greets you with a smile and remembers our names every time we're in. In terms of quality, we've always been happy with our dry cleaning. I'm particular about my clothing and I hate when my clothes come back over starched, smelling funky or damaged. I've NEVER had an issue like that here. I even brought my comforter in after my dog peed on it and the owner took it in stride and had it back to new the next day. For those commenting on the pricing, I've found I get what I pay for when it comes to dry cleaning and it's not cheap to run a business in this area. The cleaners might be good but the alteration side of the business is absolutely horrendous. The person doing the alterations doesn't seem to understand the concept of customer service. I take a simple military uniform to put name and rank tape on a new shirt. I go to pick up the uniform and the name is missing. Not a single clue what happened to the name tape. According to her, it just vanished. The person working the register put all the name tapes on in front of me but today, no name tape. She has absolutely no idea where it is, no accountability or care about the fact that I have to order a new tape tape. This is the second time I have used there alteration and the Sejong time they screwed something up! NEVER AGAIN! I know other people that go there and I'll be telling them to take their business across the parking lot to another alterations place. read more

I needed to get a few nice outfits cleaned and the prices quoted to me from the various places I went to (Nob Hill, Redwood Shores and Royal Cleaner, Whipple Ave) were astronomical, so I decided to give J&C a call was quoted a very reasonable price and I was very happy with the work done on the pieces. When I moved to San Mateo about 4 years ago, I found it really hard to find a reasonably priced cleaner that I liked. I was pleasantly surprised when I found J&C. Each and every time I go there, the service and the cleaning are both consistently great. My clothes are always crisp and done right. Kwok, the owner, is the nicest guy ever. The biggest plus is he never refuses my last minute drop offs. And what I like even better.... if you have something he can't clean, he tells you straight up. The ruined a very expensive designer gown. It had some stains that they said probably wouldn't come out (they didn't) but going on reviews I thought they would be a good, though not cheap, option to try to clean. They cleaned the 2 piece gown for $30. When I picked it up, the skirt was stained but I accepted that. The beautifully hand beaded top was ruined because beads were falling off in patches over the whole top. They did not bother to mention it when I picked it up. I was going to gift it as it was stunning as a top. It's not worth giving to anyone now. Its an original Marc Carmen Valvo that was originally several thousand dollars. I thought they would hand clean, but no. If they had said up front that might be a problem it would have been ok. They only spoke about not getting the stains out of the skirt. And he just didn't care when went back in. He knew exactly what I was talking about so he should have told me when I picked it up. Terrible customer service. read more

Yes, hard to find a good cleaner. I started using him about year ago. No doubt the guy is super nice, but not taking any responsibilty when problem occured. Two incidents, not just one: 3 mo ago, picked up my white trouser, noticed massive water stain, brought back, he said he was not responsible for that, however he tried to cleaned again, didn't work, so $250 trouser was gone; he also seems like to crush my shirt buttons, not 1, 2 or 3, but more than dozen of my shirts' buttons were crushed, he was good when you pointed out, he'd fix, but not more than two. Last week when I picked up my shirt noticed 3 buttons were crushed, he didn't have the same button to replace, so I ask him to replace all 5, he told me he'd not replace more than 2, and will charge 50c each... He told me his price are good, but I know other place has much better shirt price than him. I went to him not for price but for quality, seems he doesn't realy prove the quality as he claimed nor the price. read more
