I had wrote a review on March 25, 2024 after a nightmarish experience when my generator failed and spoke with an JD Power emergency technician who was an embarrassment for that company , this is Kevin R. . I received a call by the Owner of JD Power on March 26 , 2024 , following up with my request to speak with him on voice mail after listening to my message and reading my initial review . The owner was professional and stated he was not pleased with what had occurred to me and apologized for the whole situation . He then stated he wanted to make things right with me and what could he do to keep my business . I told him I am impressed he wanted to find a solution to make thigs right again and I said that after changing the battery in my Kohler Generator I was able to start it manually but lost the programing on the unit when I swapped out the battery. The owner then graciously offered to have a different technician then who I dealt with on the phone during the power outage and reprogrammed my Generator free of charge the next day . Needless to say I am going to now stay with JD Power Equipment for my generator maintenance and service . I believe the Owner is a man of his word and has made changes to insure Emergency Calls go to a Senior Manager who then will call and dispatch service technicians as received rather then have an on-call technician "cherry-pick" calls that are convenient for him . I can now say I would and will recommend JD Power Equipment to anyone needing a new generator or service on one . read more

Service horrible, they have had our Rv generator for a month and when we brought it back to put back in Rv, 8 hours later they couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start from inside the Rv because the qualified technician was on the road. Quoted $400-500 including part, just got the call $1200! Everything worked except generator staring from inside Rv, but don't mention that it is costing us $80/hr for that little fix by an unqualified technician. And they are telling us we can't take our Rv without full payment. What if we didn't have that kind of money. Consumer beware and get quote in writing. read more

Horrible experience with this company. Hired them to tune up our very large, portable generator. Guy came out and could not get the generator started so he said he would take it back to the shop. Was never contacted regarding an estimate for the tuneup and assumed it would be what I was quoted on the phone ~ $350. When received generator back, was told it was a simple fix -- an injector-type part need to be replaced. Was told by the guy who dropped off the generator that the part was a few dollars. Image my surprise when I received the bill for $1200! Contacted the owner and told him I could have bought a brand new generator for that price and that not only would I not pay that price, I would contact the BBB and the state about his company. Owner and I agreed to $400, I believe, but I would never recommend anyone use this company, for anything. read more

Horrible communication and Don't honor their estimates!! Dropped off my RV for a generator repair. Had to pay $85 upfront diagnostic fee. After removing it, determined the stator needed to be replaced. Estimate was quoted at ~$600. Took 3 weeks and every time I called was told as soon as the parts came in it was an quick and easy re-assembly. 1/2 the time when I would call, they wouldn't call back or no one would answer the phone. Then they found some springs needed to be replaced, but didn't mention any increase in estimate. When it was finally ready after 6 weeks the price was $1600. Of course, if I didn't pay it, they wouldn't release the RV. The RV/generator are 1998, and they thought it was worth repairing for $1600?? Very unsatisfied. read more

During a power outage in November of 2018, our Generac 8kw generator would start but not send power to the house. I called J&D Power Equipment and they said they would send a tech right out. They then proceeded to demand payment for the service visit before the tech could even start work at my house; where my mother-in-law was home alone in the dark. The manager also said the problem is most likely because we have not had the generator serviced for a very long time. Once they finally checked their records, they noticed the service was only one month overdue... Eventually, they determined the problem was the controller, which costs $540. That is just the cost of the part, not the labor to install it. This is the same controller that had been replaced by J&D Power Equipment less than 22 months prior. Almost $1200, just in parts, in less than 22 months. The manager did not even react like this was peculiar. They just simply asked for my credit card# again to pay for the part and the remaining labor I owed for the service visit $840 later. As a service dealer, wouldn't you question why a major part on a generator would fail twice in less than 22 months then work with the customer to get to the bottom of it? That old thing called, "customer service"? Not J&D Power Equipment. After many unanswered phone calls and emails, they would not lift a finger to help me deal with Generac and Generac will not work with the customer, only service dealers, so I have a generator that runs for now at the cost of almost buying a new one. I even asked J&D if they would recommend anyone that could repair the failed controllers, so I could have them as backup, but they refused to help me, all the time speaking to me very rudely and treating me like I was a hassle to them. They just want their money and do not care about the customer. The reason I gave them a rating of one star is because there is no option for zero stars. read more

Update to an earlier post about this business. I picked up my motorhome and was pleasantly surprised how clean it was kept.The service I had them perform was a 1000 hour service and the unit is running absolutely perfect. This unit seems brand new and all the issues I had are resolved. So happy to have finally found a place I can trust to bring my motorhome and I will recommend them to anyone who asks where I bring my generator for service. Thank you Steve and Mike read more
