This place is great. My car broke down...again, except this time it was pretty dead looking. The damn thing barely started, could hardly run, and looked like a choo choo train as I drove down at 10mph with so much smoke coming out the exhaust that I blinded and chocked just about anyone driving within .5 from me. Hell, my eyes would water and my lymph nodes would swell from just driving the car 2 blocks. I made a bunch of phone calls before finally coming here. I took the car to one mechanic, and he said it looked like a job that was much too big for him and to go elsewhere. I called dealers and they were saying it would probably be between 1000 and 2000 based on the symptoms I described. I took it to Emad who said it could be a lot less than that if it was just one or two things failing as opposed to the entire damn electrical system basically. I finally was able to make it to Emads on a saturday 30 minutes before closing time. He hooked it up to the computer which said it was misfiring, and two sensors were failing. Further diag. would have to wait till monday. So what made it great? 1. on Saturday, before getting there, over the phone I asked if I could drop off the car and get a ride home. Emad personally drove me back home in his car while joking along the way. The guy is super nice, and genuine. 2. He said it might be something rather simple (altho parts and labor are still expensive for my car) like a fuel injector or a bad cable 3. on monday, he got back to me by noon and said what was wrong. 1of the 6 fuel injectors failed spraying fuel constantly, and the spark plugs were old. He gave me a huuuge discount on labor and I doubt that there was much of a mark up on the price of the parts either. I got off work late on monday, and he waited around for me to arrive before going home. I paid the bill which was 25% of what dealers quoted, and sent me on my way, but not before first telling me to test drive the car so I can see how great its running. Emad rocks. My O2 sensor is out, my trans fluid needs to be flushed and I need some AC service and I definitely know who I want to do the work. read more

I drive for Uber and last night right at peak time my passenger side window would it roll up. I had to stop driving and was in danger of not being able to drive the rest of this Memorial Day Weekend which is a high volume time. I brought it to J & E around the corner from my home and the owner knew exactly what was wrong with it. I don't know weather or not they'll be able to fix my window today but I HIGHLY recommend this place because they've ALWAYS tried to help on the spot as if I was their most important customer! They always succeed, weather it's on the spot or I have to leave it. Many times he hasn't charged me for minor work. When they do, the price is always lower than anywhere else. The owner is personally working on it trying to find the part today. If not he can put in the up position so I can work tonight and will fix it when he gets the part. They are fast and thorough, I took my car in on Friday afternoon and it was ready by Saturday morning. I was unable to make the full payment on the day that I picked it up and the owner of the shop was nice enough to work out a payment arrangement while letting me take my car. I had taken my car elsewhere and they told me I needed to replace my intake gasket and were going to charge me $900. I then decided to get another opinion and went to J&E. Emad was extremely helpful and honest. I dropped my car off in the morning and he called me within a few hours telling me it was a very very minor leak in the beginning stages and that I didn't need any work on it right now. Go to him you won't be disappointed. One recent Sunday I had a major problem with my truck. I took it to another shop in Glendale that was open on a Sunday. I was desperate to get it fixed. Long story short they made it run but ripped me off for a full replacement of 8 spark plugs. Two weeks later my truck was again running very bad. This time I took it to Emad. Not only did he fix the problem the right way that took two full days, he saved me a bundle on a car rental and he worked with the owner of the other shop to get me a full cash refund! My car was having difficulty with the transmission and stopped at J & E. The owner (sorry I didn't catch his name) was extremely busy and stopped right away to look at my vehicle. He instantly knew what was wrong with my vehicle and instead of wasting my time. He was honest and told me that for my particular problem that I would need to see a transmission specialist. he quickly gave me an address to a trusted transmission specialists nearby. This took about 10 minutes of my time and I was at the transmission specialists 10 minutes later. After calling around to numerous places to look at what I suspected was just a battery issue, J&E told me I could come right in and he would take a look for no charge. This was after a few different places said they couldn't even take a look for a few days. I went right over and he came outside and recognized who I was just from the call we had had- he started the car and speculated immediately it was indeed just a bad battery (still under warranty) and he even got out the battery tester to check it and confirm. He looked at my starter and told me it was fairly new and ruled that out immediately. In the end all I had to do was get a free replacement battery from O'Reily. I can't think of another car service experience where I received such expedient and efficient help, especially when it came to determining for no charge that this was a problem they DIDN'T need to solve. Other car places might have charged me to take a look at the very least. In the end we didn't actually do any business, but without question the next time I have a car issue I am coming right back to these guys. read more

What a lovely experience I had today with J&E. My car overheated on the way to work and I had to pull off the freeway. After I finished crying my eyes out I got on yelp to search for a decent shop that wasn't too far away. I'm new to town and got lucky they were the first people I called! They gave me the number of a tow company they always work with and someone arrived within 20 minutes. Skip the tow driver was a total sweetheart and did everything he could to cheer me up. When we pulled into J&E, I was greeted by Jason and Emad with smiles and handshakes. They found out what was wrong with my car within minutes and had me walk over and look at what they had found while they thoroughly explained what was going on with my car. I've been to this place twice, the honesty of Emad really impresses me. First I was there to replace oil filter, fuel filter and engine air filter. After it was done, Emad told me they had changed oil filter and fuel filter. As for engine air filter, it was almost clean and he just did cleaning without charging me. Second time I went to this place, I thought my windshield washer was not working and Emad told me I was using it in a wrong way so it's totally fine. Wow, what an honest guy! I had a recall on my Lexus IS 250 so I took it to the dealer and had a huge problem when my son drove it to Coachella a few days after the service was done. So I called them to make an appt to have them take a look and was told there wasn't going to be a charge. When I got there 8:30 in the morning, I was told to initial where it said $172.50 diagnosis charge if this problem had nothing to do with my last visit to their service dept. I told the guy that he didn't mention this when I called and he did apologize but also made a comment " Well.. mechanics don't work for free." I asked for my car back and yelped a mechanic near by and found J&E Auto Service. Mr Salama took 2 minutes for a diagnosis at NO CHARGE and simply connected some air pipe and told me to drive around to see if everything was okay. OMG, the car was back to normal. If I could give this business ten stars I would! My car wouldn't start and I found J&E here on Yelp. I had my car towed there and Emad and his team went to work to try to figure out the problem. After a thorough investigation, he determined that it must be a computer issue that I would unfortunately have to take to the dealer. Emad not only offered to have my car towed to Toyota for free...but he refused to take any money from me...even though they spent hours trying to help. He said that if he didn't fix it...he wouldn't feel right accepting any payment. Then to top that off, he asked me to call him after I talked to the dealer...so he could help me decide what would be the best thing to do. He even called me the next day to see how it was going! I didn't know Emad before this...but he treated me from the moment I contacted him as if I was a VIP. I cannot say enough about his kindness and professionalism. read more

I stopped here on a whim just to see what prices would be for replacing front brakes, resurface rotors, and replace back brakes (shoes and drums). Cost seemed a tad high but I liked Emad so I went for it. After I called and checked a few other places, I saw that their were indeed higher so I called Emad and he was willing to take the price down from about $440 to $400 even. Came back, got my car and all seemed good. But when I was a few miles away I kept hearing a knocking noise with each rotation of the back wheels, esp at 25-0 mph. Called Emad and said it would go away in a week, but to come back if it didn't and he would take care of it. It didn't so I returned on the next sat, but he was busy and advised me to come Mon, which I did. Went away while they fixed it, came back a few hours later, drove away, and the sound was the same. Drive back and told Emad. This time I stayed in the office til it was fixed. Emad assured me they would fix it. He said he replaced the front rotors for free just in case that was the problem. He also replaced gaskets on the back wheels that were leaking brake fluid for free. After he did some more work and explained to me the challenges involved, we went for a test drive together and indeed the sound was gone. I drove it the next few days and although it heard just a tiny bit of the sound, it was still mostly gone. I'm grateful to Emad for continuing to work on this until the problem was fixed. I have been going to J & E for several years now. I found them because of their very positive Yelp reviews, and every interaction I have with them and with Emad, the owner, only serves to confirm that these reviews are well-earned. The work they do is great and always delivered on time. Emad lets you know exactly what is wrong, what is required to be done, and what can wait. He never pushes to do work you don't need and is the most honest mechanic I have ever met. I had proof of this just recently. The AC on my 10 year old Mazda went out. I took it in expecting the worst. Emad explained that they couldn't be sure until they tested and got in there, but if they had to replace all or major parts of the system it could cost me in the range of $1000. I was so relieved when he called me later to let me know that the problem was a simple one, only requiring tightening of the AC clutch. And he wouldn't even accept any payment for the time he spent on it. I had no way of knowing the extent of the problem. A dishonest mechanic could have taken complete advantage of this situation. I've been a regular customer at J&E for around thirty years, from back when Emad, the present owner, was just a mechanic employed there. I used to work for a company right down the street from the shop, and went there the first time at my boss's recommendation. My boss had a small fleet of delivery cars, and he always took them to J&E for service & repairs. He swore by the quality of their work. Well, my boss was right. They've always done competent work for me at very fair prices, but the thing that keeps me coming back isn't their expertise or price, both of which are fine -- it's the knowledge that they won't rip me off doing repairs that the car doesn't need. The previous owner (now deceased, over 10 years ago) was very honest, but he was a crusty old bastard and a drunk. Emad is equally honest -- emphatically NOT a drunk -- and one of the nicest folks you'll ever meet.
