Definitely fast service barely waited on my order once placed it and it was made exactly like I wanted. So the Italian combo, was great, bread was not too soft or crusty, plenty of meat and just right amount of mayo, oil and vinegar to not make the bread soggy. Beef and cheese empanada very good, plenty beef and definitely a lot of cheese, plus surprisingly not very greasy which is welcomed since d usual empanadas are. I ordered a sub from here, it was supposed to be hot. It wasn't hot at all. Even the meat was cold. The meat was also very salty, as if they picked the cheapest ingredients they could find. J&F has fallen off over the years and it hasn't been good since the early 2000s. I only opted to eat it since it was offered to me. I tried to warn the person who offered that the food was trash and fell off. Well, they know now after they wasted their money for a cold, salty sub sandwich. Avoid this place like the plague. City of Newburgh pizza shop, JR Pizzeria, is a nice spot. They have several pizza pie selections. We selected the buffalo chicken and bruschetta pie. Delicious!!! All fresh ingredients. The mozzarella cheese pull was spot on, the pesto yummy, and crust perfect. The buffalo chicken was exactly what it should be, not so hot that you can't eat or flavorless...it was tasty and yum. I ordered to pick it up and it was done 5 minutes earlier than I expected. The lady at the counter was friendly and outgoing. Ordered a calzone, chicken parmigiana, chicken wings and mozzarella sticks. Everything was great. If I had anything to complain about it would only be that I like the mozzarella sticks to be melted inside as you bite into them, the cheese inside was solid cheese that seemed like it never melted. The calzone was one of the better one's that I've had. The chicken parmigiana and hot wings were better than what you normally find. The next time I went, I ordered the same calzone, this time all the mozzarella cheese was on one side and the ricotta cheese on the other side, poorly mixed. Ordered a Meatball Parm Sub and the meatballs were some of the best I've ever had. I wish when they wrapped it that all the cheese wasn't stuck to the tin foil, most places wrap it in a good layer of wax paper before placing it in tin foil, still the meatballs were excellent. . read more

This is one of my favorite places to visit whenever I go back to NY (I moved 13 years ago). On my last visit (in July), they remembered my usual order, even though I hadn't been there since December. I was impressed by this. The people that work there are usually friendly, which is important for any business. Their pizza is pretty good. It tends to be a little greasy for my taste, but some people like that. I do love their subs (both hot and cold). The bread is perfect-not crunchy or burned, or flimsy. The service is quick. The food is usually brought to the table within a reasonable amount of time (if you dine in) or is ready to be taken out the door as quickly as possible. Of course the speed depends on what you've ordered. If you are getting a whole pie or a larger order, you may need to wait a little longer. The inside of J&F isn't great. One side has older plastic booths, and the other has nicer tables and chairs and is more of a sit down and enjoy your meal type atmosphere. I think the side with thr booths is more for those picking up a to-go order, still it would be nice if both sides of the place were updated. It would look more cohesive and updated. read more

Have been coming to this place for decades and have generally been pleased however last night I went and ordered 2 ham, turkey and swiss cheese heroes. After I got home discovered that the sandwiches did not gave any ham...very little turkey and was without mayonaise. I was extremely disappointed and should have gone back..after all for 18.50 it wasn't a cheap meal. It will be awhile before I am back. read more

I used to really like J&F Pizza when I was a teenager living in Newburgh over 20 years ago. I went to Newburgh yesterday to spend the day with family and figured I stop in for some pizza and a salad. We stood there waiting 15 minutes for someone to notice us standing at the counter because they were to busy with their to go orders which obviously seemed more important. While standing there the young guy taking the to go orders turned his backside to us and I gasped. His pants were hanging off his backside as a lot of kids wear their pants these days but is totally inappropriate in a place of business. Not that it's not inappropriate on the street but sheesh what employer would allow their employee to be dressed like that. I wished I had just walked out as I had intended to do after standing there that long. Finally the older gentleman took our order. I ordered a tossed salad for myself and a single slice for my mother to go. Well tossed salad is the exact name for it because after 2 bites I threw it in the trash. The tomatoes were those barely ripe tomatoes that you encounter in the supermarket that you have to ask is that a tomato because it barely resembles one. The italian dressing tasted like rubbing alcohol or what I would imagine it would taste like if I had ever drank it. I mean come on you can go to the supermarket and buy a Good Seasons Cruet with the seasonings to make italian dressing that tastes good for around 3 dollars...My mom said the pizza was ok but that's her code for I don't want to complain but I didn't really care for it. Besides the fact it looked nothing like the J&F Pizza I had growing up. These appeared to be totally new owners because I didn't recognize any person. Either that or my memory's going but I'm only 41 so I hope not...lol Needless to say I will never go there again. Its a shame because J&F Pizza used to be a really good pizza place. Also they should really maybe sweep the sidewalk too. If your running a business why would you want customers to step over cigarette butts as they walk in to eat. Disgusting!!! I don't care who put them there or if you have to sweep 10 times a day. Take pride in your business and what it represents!!!!!! read more

Average pizza, service is okay, and selection is decent. The rest rooms need to be condemned though.

It's all about the food here. Old school and consistently good. Pizza sauce is sweet and delicious. Cannot go wrong with any of the subs or entrees here. If you want atmosphere go elsewhere read more
