So, I go to have my "fix" for a Texas Weiner, and mind you, I have a number of Texas Weiner's, I, II, and III, to choose from. It's Saturday and very busy with the indigenous clientele. I sit at the counter and wait for my order to be taken. I am served before the Lady who ordered before me and my guest. I say, " this is not right", and the Owner says," it's on the grill and just coming off"! I have now finished and still no order for this Lady. He is 4 feet from the grill and no honest or valid excuse is given. Shockingly, he reverses this Lady's charge card and she leaves with no food. With food costs at approx. $.22 on the dollar, one would have "comp'd the order", and saved 3 regulars that will "never" return!! You lost 3 lifers for a $3.50 food charge that any respectable restaurateur would have happily written off, but really, would have had the order in proper time. Obvious disrespect for the clientele. He has the traffic he needs. NO HEART! read more

These guys are quickly becoming my go to breakfast spot. Their pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwiches as well as their omelettes, and potatoes are great! The guys and lady behind the counter are also super friendly and really appreciate your business. It can get pretty cramped in here as it is a small space but they turn out their orders quick so you won't find yourself waiting long. I called ahead today and my food was ready in 5 minutes! Great greasy spoon. If you're a Texas Weiner fan, J&G will definitely satisfy. Large juicy dogs on a toasted bun with chili, onions, and yellow mustard on top. The chili is Greek style, a bit exotic for New Jersey, but exactly like the chili dogs you find in Cincinnati. The folks that run this place are terrific, very warm and friendly. I was nursing the last few sips of my Pepsi and they basically insisted on giving me a free refill. "J & G's" Texas Wieners (Jimmy & Georges) is a Dunellen landmark. One of the reasons that makes them so successful is that 97% of the time one of them is always there ensuring that that you receive fast professional and consistently a good "greasy spoon" experience serving breakfast all day every day. To expound on "greasy spoon" be careful if you order takeout not to put the bag on your cloth car seat as you will have some grease cleanup to do for sure. If you're looking for premium provisions such as Shickhaus dogs, Taylor pork roll or Farmland bacon you won't find them here. However what you will find is the "Budget" luncheonette standard fare reasonably priced and cooked with care to perfection. The cooks usually listen when you place your order with your waitress as the place is so small they are usually within earshot and quickly and attentively provide you with exactly what you asked for the first time every time. From the crispy Hatfield dogs to the toasted rolls, they care about how you want it and you never leave disappointed. Their pancakes are great and if you're a burger person you get a consistently good burger at a fair price. You can also have any cheese you can imagine, as long as its American or Swiss. LOL... I got my nails done at Nina's Nails right across the street from this place (AMAZING PLACE BTW) and was feeling hungry. I looked up this place's menu in the mood for a breakfast sandwich. That's when I saw that they had an option of creating your own sandwich. I got a double egg, sausage and bacon with mayo and bbq sauce. The lady that took down my order was SO SO SWEET & a complete DELIGHT. With a smile on her face, she helped me make my order. The atmosphere was cozy and homey. Each worker was friendly and helpful. Although quite tight with many people, the service was very quick and swift. Even though my order was quite specific, they got everything right! 10/10 would come again. By far the best Texas Weiners anywhere! My dad and I make a day trip out of coming here for lunch because it's absolutely worth it.

I ordered the hot dog and asked for chili and cheese. Well I was not aware that the chili was a combination of chili, onions and mustard. It had a sweet taste to it which I did not like. I was expecting traditonal chili and not what I received. I was hoping for a better first impression, but overall it was still good, just next time I won't be ordering the chili. read more

Best weiners in NJ, hands down! The chili weiner is awesome and the recipe is top secret. The place is packed at lunch so if you want to eat in, good luck getting a seat as the place is small. It's been there for over 40 years and nothing seems to ever change. They still have the Archie Bunker decor. Friendly and prompt service. The burgers are tastey too. Reasonable prices. They usually have a girl behind the counter with a pair of healthy hooters and she'll give you a nice cleavage shot when she bends over the counter to take your order. You'll leave there with a full tummy and a rock hard woody. Lots of fat people eat there and that's why they are fat because they frequent the place too often. Make sure you have some rolaids handy because the chili can reak havoc on your stomach. Plus when you get home you might get a good case of chili farts. There was a fat dude sitting on the stool next to me and he was ripping some serious wind as he was devouring three chili dogs. He ripped one that was so loud that the whole counter shook.
