These guys are awesome. I have an old '70s Caddy Eldorado that most other places will no longer touch due to the age of the technology. They always help me out with a quick and easy smog every two years. And whenever something needs to be done, they send me next door to the associated business that handles (legally) the repairs and adjustments to ensure it passes smog. My truck from my deceased husband muffler was disassembled & beyond repairs BUT I thought I need So, I had my truck (a Dodge Ram 2500 v10) towed to this business establishment finally after several days trying to get a towed for what I thought was a welding repaired. The first AAA towing company sent a request to Inglewood, Ca. Towing tow to J&J Muffler. Lord have mercy this man showed up telling me he couldn't tow me because of my muffler had turned. Instead of him trying figure out how to reposition my muffler he refused me service. Until I get someone to cut my muffler off. That was a horrible day for me. I was out of a vehicle for six weeks. When I finally called & report this man's behavior to AAA of course they were apologetic concerning his behavior. I was so overwhelmed that I couldn't do anything else until the next day. So when I called AAA again they found a different towing company & I tell you this man show up & show out in a very positive way. He did not complain about doing his job. May I add I am an African-American Woman & the towing company from Wednesday was a African-American man that didn't want to do his job & from pulling my truck onto the flatbed broke the longest pipe on my truck. And the man from yesterday on Thursday was a Latino man who came to do his job. And the only reason why I am specifying their race is because I was treated so horrible by my own race & the Latino man treated me with so much respect. The man at J & J Muffler, Inc. the entire staff Mr Gus & Mr. Albert were very professional, respectful & completed my job. I didn't need a welding job because my muffler was destroyed beyond repairs. And, Mr. Albert gave me several options & I chose the best option for my truck. They estimated what had 2 be done & done it in a professional manner. My 1999 Nissan Altima was illin'. Its "get up and go" had "got up and gone." I limped into J&J after another shop had determined it wasn't the transmission nor engine and thought it might be a clogged catalytic converter. J&J did a quick check and determined the converter wasn't clogged so I left it with them for more checks. They found an issue with the timing and fixed so now it runs like it used to. I thought the price was fair for finding and fixing the problem and I'm very relieved just to have my car back and working again. read more

I had the WORST experience here. I took my 1959 Karmann Ghia here for repairs, and I was charged $240 for keys that DON'T WORK properly. The car sat there for over a month and neither Guss or Albert kept their word on when they would call back, when work was going to be done, or when estimates would be available! I was told it would cost $240 to replace the ignition and door keys and found out that the locksmith they used only charges $150. On top of this, the keys that were made can not be duplicated for use as they used the wrong keys, filed the keys down and forced them to work. The door key only works on the drivers side and Albert told me to bring it back and "maybe you will have to have two keys. One for each door". On top of the key issue, I was quoted $3,800 for an engine rebuild on a Volkswagen!!! There is NOTHING on a 57 year old Volkswagen that by itself costs $3,800 I took the car to a local competitor and the total was $1,800 After over a month of trying to get the keys made correctly, I still can't get them fixed. The locksmith does not have the proper blanks. They requested that I bring the car to them and proceeded to try to use pliers and files to force a fit. Their other solution was for me to find the keys myself and bring them to them. Gustavo told me if it could not be fixed, they would refund my money, but Albert told me that his partner should not have given me the lock smith info or offered a refund. The locksmith promised to order the correct keys, but after 3 weeks, I've heard nothing and have taken it to another place to get the proper repairs done. This is NOT good service!!! I was charged almost $100 more than the cost of the keys, and they were not made properly. I've reported them to the Bureau of Automotive Repairs, and hope that this becomes a part of their permanent record. They don't call back, don't follow through, and overcharge their customers!!! read more

Just my call made it difficult to a make decision with this shop, I would have been a new customer, put on hold then when he returned he said hello what can do for you. I ask for price qoute on a catalytic converter for my particular car I told hom which one was bad since I was at a car shop already for oil and tire rotation etc... they just didn't do muffler work anyway the qoute was even after I told him it was the middle one with a rattling noise, he replied to me $750 for all 3, I said ok I would just need the one fixed, he replied again we will change all 3 one at a time until we find the right one. I am thinking what the hell, than he added $250 for each one. I am a tech if that's trouble shooting a problem by the shot gun method than why even go their. Unprofessional, not helpful they must get a lot of businesses and forgot how to use courteous helpful actions the result in a win win situation. read more

If you don't speak Spanish don't go there . I was told to come back at 8 am the next day. So I came back the next day only to be told that the owner would not be there til 12 noon. I told the guy he told me to come back at 8 am . So he called him he told him he would be there in 10 minutes but didn't arrive till 30 minutes later. But when he arrived he didn't even acknowledge me. I thought he was testing my car. But instead he was working on another car. I asked him if he was finished with my car but he had not even looked at it, the time was 10:30 am . He said he would not be able to get to it for another 30 minutes. I told him I have some place to go.(another shop that I was going to give my money to. They had it test and I was out with my smog test in 20 minutes. Will never go back to JJ. read more

This is my second time working with J & J and could not be happier! 2 years ago I brought my Jeep Grand Cherokee here as I needed a cat replacement before I left town for my wedding, Gustavo had a full schedule but still managed to fit me in and gave me a GREAT price on the cat and labor. This time I just brought in my 1970 Convertible Cougar to have the exhaust from my coupe reworked and welded to fit the vert. It is a very detailed job because you must make sure the pipes are tight enough to the body and driveshaft to clear the support plate specific to the convertible. These guys were flawless! Perfect fit, perfect hangers no exhaust leaks anywhere. They turned it around in 3 days and the price was less than half of the closest quote I got from 2 other shops. When I failed a smog check and needed some repairs, I looked around for a place near home to get a price quote. Albert charged me a $120 diagnostic fee including my smog check and re test. This was the best deal in the area so I took advantage. I was able to bring it in the same day and it turns out I failed the smog because of a simple valve that cost $9 to repair...whew.. Albert also checked my brakes and changed them including my rotors. Altogether I paid $500 for brakes, smog, valve repair, and diagnostic. I don't think I overpaid and Albert was really helpful and honest. read more

Needed to get my catalytic converter replaced and this place was recommended by someone in my neighborhood. I called and got a quote, if I brought my own part. When I went to have it installed a few weeks later, I was met by the very welcoming and friendly owner, Gustavo. I was surprised that he remembered me from my call a few weeks prior. Turns out, the part I bought wasn't the right one for my car & he researched it and gave me the right part number to go back and purchase. The install was quick and he asked me the price he quoted on the phone and honored that. He also serviced my car immediately so I didn't have to wait. This was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had with any type of company, not just an automotive shop. I also found out they do a variety of other automotive services, so this will be my new mechanic! Very disappointed in this place. The paperwork guarantees parts and labor for a year if you pay for the warrantee but they did not honor it. It had. Even less then a year and they charged 200 just for labor. It was brought down to 90$ it was still wrong. Not worth the warrantee fee they don't honor it. read more

i do not recommend anyone come to this shop. ive came to this shop to get a simple oil change , 3 months later or less my check engine light and service lights comes up. i take my car to the honda dealership, they tell me i was running on no oil, and my car obviously does not leak any oils . so i come to the conclusion that these b!+€h$ at j&j muffler straight robbed me for my money. read more
