I just had my roof ridge caps replaced by J&J about an hour ago. They matched my existing color of the composite roof shingles perfectly, I could not be any more pleased. This will give me another 4 years before I have to replace my entire roof which is going to be expensive but at least I can prepare and save for the time being. My experience with Jush at J&J has been positive, a very professional company that keeps their appointments and maintains communication. Plus, they carry general liabiity and worker's compensation insurance - not all roofers have this so be sure to check or else the liability of any injury or damage to your property can fall on you. My only issue was that they needed to plug their equipment for power, had I not been home then I'm not sure how they could have completed the job, they should have had a generator. Other than that minor issue, the job went well. I would reccomend J&J for your roofing needs, they are not the cheapest but they are fair in pricing, competant, reliable, and professional. read more

I decided to go with J&J Roofing. Their estimator was the very detailed and explained the issue including pictures while respecting my safely during these COVID times. They got back to me with the bid the same day and theirs was the most resendable. My communication with Mike and the office crew was pleasant and helpful. I just had Matthew and his crew replace part of the roof on my recently purchased 1924 Spanish style home and on the garage. One of the selling points to this house was the "newer roof". The previous owners had put on a composite shingle roof but the roof slope was too slight, so there was a real possibility of leakage under the right conditions in wind driven rain. My home inspector had alerted me to this and Mathew confirmed it as well and gave me informative options in layman's speak. J & J Roofing came recommended to us through two different contractors and a few local homeowners. Seeing their high rating on Yelp sealed our decision. We received an estimate from them and finally felt like we could tackle replacing our 80 year-old Spanish tile roof. They were patient with the fact it took a year before we had the funds ready to start the project. Once we were set to go they were very helpful with finding us find the closest replacement tile that was available on the market. The day they started at our home, first removing the old tile roof from the second story, it was evident that this company was very organized with a professional crew. It was a massive undertaking, yet they were careful to make sure our plants were protected and at the end of the day, I was impressed how clean they left everything even though they were to be back first thing in the morning. The following two days were completing repairs and installing the new roof tiles. An alarmed window screen was accidentally torn during the day of repairs and they were quick to fix the problem. An employee drove quite a distance to drop off the screen and returned to pick it up once repaired. The new roof made our 1920's era home look much more elegant and fresh. The entire experience was painless and much quicker than I imagined. J & J Roofing has continued to be beyond helpful. They reviewed estimates we received for re-roofing two properties we own in the hi-desert and saved us considerable money by showing us that only one needed a new roof, while the other was a $500 repair job. After calling another roofing contractor twice that I previously used and was pleased with their work, they scheduled a visit from the owner to provide me with an estimate for re-roofing. He never showed nor did he call to reschedule. I called J&J Roofing and they scheduled a visit to provide me with an estimate. In that I felt that the cost to re-roof a section of my roof with wood shingles was high, reflecting the cost of the material, I requested a second estimate on re-roofing the entire house in composition shingles. I felt the updated estimate to be fair so I asked for them to provide me with a start date. The estimated start date was very close to the actual start date. The job took six days which included removing the old wood shingles, replacing damaged plywood and installing the new roof. The crew cleaned up the work site beyond my expectations and provided me with an excellent new roof. Neighbors complemented me on how good the new roof looks and I'll have to agree with them. It was so refreshing to find a roofing company who told me the truth and didn't try to sell me more than we needed. We bought a fixer upper 1928 spanish style house which is going to require, well, a lot of fixing up. J and J came out and told me what I needed now and what Ill need later. EXTREMELY BEYOND DISAPPOINTED!!! I had contacted this company over three weeks ago. I was in desperate need of roof repair. But first within the same day I was contacted and I was promised that they're going to come and evaluate my roof. 10 days went by and despite me calling and emailing them I never heard from them. About 10 days later I was contacted by Mr. Rob Davis. He finally came and evaluated my house nine days ago. By then I had already had another company come and evaluated my roof and I decided to give these guys a chance for a second opinion as I wanted the best repair job He seemed very nice and knowledgeable. I expressed to him the urgency of my house and the situation with inside mold that I needed urgent repair. He promised that he was going to get me a proposal by the next day. I didn't hear from him and he contacted me a few days ago saying that he will give me a proposal. Here we are nine days later despite me emailing Mr. Davis and even calling the office and leaving a message nobody has contacted me. This is beyond unprofessional. They could've just told me you're not interested and couldn't repair my roof so I could've moved with the other company. Now the other company has told me they have other jobs and can't get to my roof for at least a month. I am extremely upset having been played like this. Save yourself and do not even try going with this company if you need something urgently done as they don't care. read more

Just had J &J Roofing complete a new roof for a whole house and garage in San Marino. They did a great job and I am delighted w/ the outcome. This was an older (75y/o) home that had only one roof put on over the original cedar shakes in all that time. There was a lot of demolition and upgrades to be done to put on a new roof. Also, the garage roof was sagging under poor framing and too many yrs of neglect. Mike Glass (owner) and Justin Mack took care of many details including all building permits and scheduling a subcontractor (see separate review for WA Schwartz)to repair and reinforce the garage framing. All work was completed exactly as planned and described at the outset. I just had my roof redone by J & J and it was a brilliant job. Yes, I had to wait a while, but since the rains aren't very big in the late spring/summer, I figured I could wait. And since they'd come so highly recommended I thought it'd be worth it. I can see why they're so busy. I've dealt with a lot of contractors in my 16 years owning this house and these have been the only guys who came when they were supposed to, finished when they were supposed to, and the job was done well, professionally and there was no mess afterward. I even thought they'd covered a working vent (I was taking photos from my neighbor's garage of the process) and one of their guys came back out and climbed into my attic (on a 100 degree day) getting ready to fix it but found that what was covered wasn't a working vent at all, it was a hole made by a previous contractor that did nothing. And then he told me that the vent I was concerned about went out the side of my house under the roof - and then showed it working when I put the bathroom fan on. Awesome service. Awesome job. Hopefully I won't need this again for a long time, but when I do I'm calling them. read more

We live in an older bungalow and we've unfortunately had some issues with the roof. We researched Yelp for a company that could come out quickly since we had a serious leak in the roof (right over our toilet, of course). They answered right away and listened to all of our concerns over the phone before sending someone out. Rob came to our house right away and was incredibly kind. He was polite and on time which is important when you have a baby who has a nap schedule. Rob got up on the roof, told us exactly what was going on and he gave us a couple of options for fixing the issue. He was honest and we didn't get the feeling that he was interested in selling us on anything - it was really easy to see that he genuinely wanted to help us. I can't recommend these guys enough. The roof was fixed quickly and we haven't had any issues since - which is bittersweet because we're thankful our roof is fixed with all this Los Angeles rain, but we wouldn't mind seeing Rob again. I was looking for a roofing company familiar with "cool" roofs as my house is a post and beam constructed house with a tongue and groove roof with vaulted ceilings and no attics except for a small central attic above the hall with the air conditioning duct work. Mike suggested a TPO roof. We decided to go with that as it is a highly reflective white that will help keep the house much cooler. Mike was a pleasure to deal with and there was absolutely no "up sell" attempts or pressure, which is rare these day. I was very concerned that the process of tearing off the old tar paper and asphalt shingle roof would make a huge mess of my house as the tongue and groove roof had many gaps the could have let in a lot of nasty black asphalt dust. We tarped the inside of the house as a precaution, but the crew, lead by the very knowledgeable and competent Alfredo did an excellent job of removing the tarpaper by rolling it up instead of just scraping it off. There was very little dust, which we greatly appreciated! The crew was neat, orderly and efficient and really a bunch of nice guys who were a pleasure to deal with. They cleaned up after themselves each day and left my yard nice and clean. The job was done on schedule and there were no cost additions or problems of any kind. I look forward to using them again on another property we own in the future, and I HIGHLY recommend them. I wish I could say the same about other "contractors" I have dealt with! I am a retired electrician and contractor after 32 years in the trade, so I have seen a lot of stuff and recognize people who take pride in their work. J&J takes pride in their work.....BTW, I live in the San Fernando Valley where it gets HOT! The TPO cool roof has made a huge difference since the first day it was installed. Response time is excellent in delivering quotes, detail supplied is adequate including pictures, repairs are done professionally, and workers are always timely. roofing is a tough job, this team achieves great results. i recently used them for roof replacement for half the house, and also had them redo 2 others sections completed by another roofer that was brought in by a former GC. Terrible service! Very unprofessional. Not only do they show up late to an appointment (45 minutes late, no apology), but they ask you to show up 30 minutes before the scheduled time. They were suppose to fix a leak, but instead another leak was created. They don't respond to emails, or voice messages, so you need to call and follow up yourself.
