I love trying restaurants along the way when I travel. We found this place on a return trip from Corpus Christi. I love the interior and decor. The table and chairs are comfortable and the AC works great because it was 98° today. The staff was very friendly. I ordered a burger, I know what was I doing? Long story short, I hadn't had one in months. It was very nice they warmed the bun so it was soft. The taste was good but a little over done. My wife enjoyed her pulled pork taco very much. We then ordered a family pack of brisket and chicken to go. This came with two side , we chose the green beans and coleslaw. I specifically told them we wanted our brisket moist! Pros know this means the fatty side, not the flat. Unfortunately the system does not seem to let the chef know this. So our brisket was dry. Had good flavor but was a little salty too. The chicken was good. The green beans were amazing! They were so good, I will stop by again to get some of them. Now it gets interesting. The very sweet waitress had only 3 days on the job. When we went to order and pay for our lunch and to go order the prices did not match. The menu prices are the cash price, the register has all the meals set with a 4% credit card fee. Now I have a background in computer system and restaurants. This was a very confusing system and loaded with confusing data. If the owners contact me, I would be very willing to help them and discuss how they can make the system much easier to use. read more

I have never been so disappointed I went in and there was no potato salad ready then I opened my plate when I got home and I only got a leg of chicken I've never not gotten quarters from them so when I opened my plate and didn't see that it really made me not want to go there anymore especially because that was what I was most excited for. read more

Amazing brisket!! I don't normally get loaded potato but really wanted to based off of other pictures and reviews. It was SO good! The meat is cooked to perfection. My husband got the Texan Sampler and really enjoyed every bite! The staff were all so friendly and kept everything clean. We didn't have to wait very long for our food and it was fresh when it came to the table, didn't taste reheated at all! What can I say! We had the Texas sampler, I absolutely loved the brisket & ribs. Brisket was tender and juicy cut it with my fork like butter! The loaded baked potato with brisket was awesome! So glad we stopped here on our way to the beach. We were going to stop at one of those chain BBQ restaurants up the highway! But we decided to try a small hometown BBQ restaurant. First of all, I don't make it a habit of leaving negative reviews. But the people of San Antonio and the surrounding area should be warned. The service was very friendly and the restaurant looked amazing. BUT, the brisket was obviously cooked to hot too fast, so none of the fat rendered and was completely inedible. Not even BBQ sauce could save it. My wife asked for lean, and we were served the point. The fries were so undercooked, it was like biting into a fresh potato. I asked for everything on the side of my burger and there is mustard mayo and ketchup on BOTH sides. it's a train reck. The rib plate is $18 for 2 ribs when the girl at the restaurant said it was 3. This place is off the beaten path, but a hidden gem. We had brisket, sausage, chicken, a turkey leg and ribs. They were all wonderful! The sauce is on the sweet side. Even the hot BBQ sauce is sweet, but you don't need much because everything had a good layer of spice and smoke. The staff was a little sparse, but the girl was very sweet. Passed by this smokehouse after dropping off a rideshare customer. THIS PLACE HAS DINE IN OPTION!!! I advised the owner to update Google so people know. Would not have had an easy chance to visit if not for a rider dropoff nearby as this place is not near me, easily about half hour drive. This is by far the best smokehouse in my books. I love Stiles Switch in Austin TX but I'm glad I have one of my own in San Antonio. Javier the owner was so accommodating. I thank him for suggesting his TX Sampler so I can taste all of his masterpieces. Everything was amazing from the sausage to the brisket to the chicken. Even the BBQ sauce was uniquely fantastic. Ambience is amazing. I'd love to come back in the fall to try eating outside in their huge garden. We stopped at J and S Smokehouse today on our way back to San Antonio from a trip to Port Aransas. It was a really great lunch for the four of us. We had brisket tacos and BBQ chicken plates. The sides were great too, especially the green beans and creamed corn. The owner was there and brought us out some samples of the pulled pork coming out of the smoker at that moment. Wow! The food was fantastic! We got the ribs, brisket, hoagie and chicken salads. The ribs were smoked and delectable. Brisket has perfect amount of pink and fat if you're a connoisseur of great BBQ. We stopped here for a quick bite on the way to the beach. Kids were asked what they wanted first which was very appreciated greatly by the grandparents, and their meals were brought out less than 5 minutes later. Highly recommend giving it a try.
