I have eaten here numerous times over the past several years with varying experiences; however, this past Sunday, redemption was served in the form of friendly service, strong margaritas, and tasty Tex-Mex. It was National Margarita Day, so they were extra busy, but our waitress was engaging, prompt, and provided the best service we have ever received here. Our original margaritas with a salt rim were a pleasant addition in honor of such a great day. Although they also offer more authentic Mexican cuisine, my partner and I were craving the basics. She had the fajita flameado, and I had a half order of picadillo nachos. Boy, did they both hit the spot. Looking forward to more visits like this one!

We came here before a field trip with our daughter. Service was great, food was good, we would come back if we were in the area. Nothing really wowed me to the point where I would recommend to others if they were looking for a great taco place. I love the ads on the tables.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced! Our waitress was kind and attentive. The vibe is very family and community oriented. They even had community advertising on the tables! What a lovely business.

Good food and reasonable prices. Chilaquiles wasn't our favorite as it tasted more like nachos. But everything else was pretty good.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in San Antonio! Open for breakfast and lunch, so make sure you plan accordingly. Service is always spot on! Quick and friendly. Plenty of seating with a feel at home ambiance. Pete's flour tortillas are a little bit different than others, but that what sets them apart. Think of fluffy clouds of goodness with a melt in your mouth taste. Complementary chips & salas always hit the spot but don't forget the Chile con Queso or Queso Flameado. When I can't decide what I want, I always head to the "Takos" menu... pick some of my favorite meats and don't forget to add some guacamole inside for extra flavor

We go pretty much every Sunday now to get their breakfast tacos. The restaurant is nice cute Mexican restaurants but the only time we decide to eat at the restaurant the service took kinda long so from there we just decided to order to go. We are interested in coming for dinner since the drinks look pretty yummy!

I'm not sure if we came on an off day, but the food was not tasty. The rice was WAY over cooked, it was like mush. The puffy taco was underwhelming as well, which was so disappointing because that was the main thing I wanted to try. Service was good.

Visiting San Antonio. Our first experience with, puffy takos, aka tacos. Puffy tacos are not soft not fried crispy, they're in between. Pete's tako house will fill the puffy tacos with anything you can imagine. This place has been reviewed thousands of times. My review is not much different. Great service, quantity of food is excellent and the ambiance is homey and local. Just be sure you know what side of the road you park. One side is free, the other is not. If you're in the neighborhood, stop by. A real classic

I came here based off the reviews. It's not far from where I was staying downtown as well. Once you walk inside you see locals lining up for lunch as this place is only opened until 3pm. After getting seated if your entire party is there and the menu is given you get asked what do you want to drink? Then it takes awhile for that to be given to you and your order to be taken. The service is really a hit or miss and mine was a miss. When I needed the server, she wasn't around. The food took forever. Regarding the food for starters the chicken on the stick was ordered (it was like a thin boneless pounded chicken piece on a stick.) I also ordered a cup of fideo loco which was a noodle soup. The brisket plate was alright, I needed the salsa to give it a bit of flavor as it was quite bland. The tacos (takos) were huge if you were to compare it to the size of a regular taco. Maybe if I ordered something else, perhaps, it would have turned out to be a better meal.

Look, I'm not from Texas, and I'm not Latino in any way, but I know when I've died and gone to breakfast taco heaven.

This place was recommended to us by the coffee stand next door. The service was very friendly and the tacos tasted great.

GAME CHANGER! When…read moreI visit San Antonio Plantaqueria is an absolute must. I'm taken aback every time I walk into to this wonderfully positioned taqueria in downtown steps from the River Walk. The smells, the feels, the sounds- it'll set your senses on fire. It's ambience is nothing short of walking the streets of Mexico and stumbling across the best local food find there is- it's your lucky day. It doesn't end there, because I have yet to discuss the flavors that this place dishes out. If you can imagine that other taquerias in town as as good as mamma's cooking, Plantaqueria is grandma's cooking saying, " I taught them everything they know." The counter service, decor and neon lights transport you to a pueblo that you probably have no business being in but were fortunate enough to get lost in. I feel that the people working to advance this visionary concept are in love with what they do because you get that experience with every bite of fresh, homemade goodness, weather you dine in or take/order out. Dude, fresh corn and flour tortillas, C'mon, man!! And speaking of vision, the owner, Sofia, who looks like she would get IDd at a bar has created something truly unique and incredibly delicious. Plantaqueria has revolutionized modern, classical Mexican street cuisine. It's open 7am-7pm so you can literally have this all day and you might wish you did. Y'all need to get you some, and don't thank me, thank the purveyors of this Alamo City gem. P.s. I've brought my mom in to eat this stuff and she totally agrees!

(It had Just Egg but I think other things added with it. It felt that it was softer and lighter than if it was only Just Egg) and pico de gallo on handmade flour tortilla. We were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. Their two self-serve complementary salsas were also fun and creamy. Concha- Delicious and we liked the top of it. Maybe one of our favorite conchas. Elote hot cake - Came out really hot and was delicious. These are only available on weekends. I was tempted to get more but we had lots more food targets on the schedule. Torta with Asada was pretty good too. But the other items excited me more I think. The person at the front also gave us some samples of other taco fillings to try: the fillings of the La Ranchera: Potatoes and pico de gallo in salsa ranchera and also grilled nopales. My husband who is usually not as crazy as me about nopales liked them here. They have mole on the weekends but it's not housemade from scratch. They use premade mole and add some more things to it so we skipped that one. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

That's exactly the energy at Los Weyes de la Asada. From the second you walk up, it feels alive. Not in a forced way, more like you've been there before, even if it's your first time. The kind of place where your stress, your diet, even your cruda takes a backseat. Now the food. No overthinking needed here. Everything coming out of that truck is a straight up pow pow of flavor. The carne is cooked just right, juicy with that perfect char, and the corn tortillas are legit, soft but with enough structure to hold everything together. I ordered the Mamón and the Chingón, and honestly, both lived up to the names. No misses. And the agua fresca de fresa? That sealed it. They serve it in a little bolsita, which somehow makes it hit even better. Simple, nostalgic, and just cool. It's all tucked inside El Camino, which adds to the whole vibe, string lights, people hanging out, that easygoing outdoor feel where you lose track of time a little.

The smell alone made me think we were in for something special. We grabbed a couple of cocktails and ordered tacos, which seemed like the obvious choice. The tacos were good, but that's about where I'd leave it. They weren't bad at all, but they also weren't particularly memorable. With the aroma coming from the grill and all the recommendations I'd heard, I was expecting a little more flavor and a bigger wow factor. The atmosphere was fun, the service was good, and the charcoal grill definitely adds to the experience. I just found the food itself to be more "solid" than "spectacular." I'd rate it about a 7 out of 10. Worth trying if you're already at El Camino, but not a place I'd go out of my way for.

As a fellow citizen of H-town, we have a vibrant taco scene and I would put this place up there with some of my favorite spots I frequented in HOU. Each time I've been here, I've ordered between 8-9 tacos as they are each $2.50. I've gotten a combination of pastor, barbacoa, lengua, bistec, and cabeza. I can't really select a favorite cause they're all so delicious with the meats tender and juicy with a heaping sprinkle of onions and cilantro. Make sure you squeeze the lime on it and mix it with the radish/cucumber garnish they'll throw in there. And don't forget to throw on that green/red salsa they provide. Either eat there or get it to go (which is what I did). Fortunately the tacos travel well as they were still hot when I posted up at my hotel to grub. Don't be discouraged of the long line if you see one as it moves quick. You walk up and place your order, then pay afterwards. It's somewhat of an honor system but there is security present when I went there so that eased my concerns. For drinks, it's either soft drinks, water, or mineral water. No alcohol is served here so if you want margaritas/micheladas/beer, you'll have to go elsewhere for that. No doubt I'm returning next time I'm in SA. Viva Taquitos West SIDE!

This is a very busy place. However, the waiter was simply incredible. Very attentive, very informative quite humorous. He was frankly part of the river walk entertainment. Extremely accommodating and instructive as well. You can't hope for much more from a server in Restaurant than this activity. The food is really quite good. How are the drinks. Extremely dependable and the portions are generous and equally wonderful. There are many places to dine in San Antonio. However, this is an experience not to be missed and I mean that quite sincerely. Kudos for a very, very well run well situated and well managed enjoyable place to dine on the river walk in San Antonio.
