I visited this taco spot since I needed something quick during a long and busy Saturday, so I picked Mary's, which is one of the highest rated breakfast places in town. This location in Blanco is one of 3 locations in the Hill Country, so they were popular enough to expand. I went up to the counter with no line and ordered 4 tacos: Sean, Barbacoa, Monterrey, and a Pork in green sauce. The best was the Barbacoa, but this is just a preference. The Sean taco was pretty traditional and one I always enjoy at any breakfast taco spot. The Monterrey was tasty with the beef and cilantro. Overall, the service was quick, tacos with homemade tortillas were delicious and prices were very reasonable....which was everything I had hoped for. I don't know how I feel about Mary's tacos. I live not too far away and I have visited in the past several times which was absolutely delicious! Finally I got the chance to go back. It is still as fun to visit. Very busy and even entertaining to watch them make these tacos. However I ordered 2 tacos for myself to eat at the restaurant a fajita one and the other I asked the lady to pick for me. And I took 2 barbacoa to go for my friend. Both of my tacos were extremely salty! When I saw my friend I said nothing and handed her the tacos... first bite she said the exact same thing. Hopefully it was just an off day for them. Food was fair flour tortillas are too thick and my chorizo taco had very little chorizo mostly egg. Our order was taken promptly with no information on getting our food. Had to ask another customer if we were supposed to just wait in line until our food was ready and that's what we did. Waited at least 15 minutes for huevos rancheros while our 2 tacos sat on the counter without anyone telling us they were ready. Sad to say we also had to clean our own table. We've been going to Mary's Tacos for years, but we took a hiatus because the quality was declining and the amount they were putting in their tacos was severely dwindling. Tried them again today and was beyond disappointed. All tortilla, barely any egg (I made extra eggs to add in later). Honestly, it was offensively puny for a $4 taco. Dropped by this morning (Wednesday) from a family's recommendation & while the space is a little tight with multiple walking in the food was perfect. They do have a seating area around the corner from where you order if you want to dine in, and there is seating outside that's covered. They have 2 checkout computers and you can pay with Tap to Pay which I love! We only waited a couple minutes before our food was ready on a tray that you pickup yourself. I ordered 3 tacos: the Beto, a bean & cheese and a chorizo & egg. All were good but the Beto one has green salsa in it that is delicious! Caveat -- only been to Mary's once, for a to-go order. But...I love this place. As others have mentioned, it's typically packed, but Mary's is a well-oiled machine. Seeing the dense area where they crank out the fresh tortillas and tacos at an amazing rate is worth the trip on its own. And the tacos are legit -- can't wait to try more. Personal favorite was a chorizo and egg taco -- the chorizo was pulverized so that, while the flavor was prominent, the grease was not. Best I've had. Tortillas are well-browned, provided sauces are good, and service is fast and friendly. If Mary's was in our town, it would be our go-to breakfast taco stop by far. read more

The atmosphere is an old house converted into a restaurant. The burritos were delicious (BTW, i am a big boy and one was plenty, they're HUGE!) I've heard of this place from a lot of people I know. They kept telling me to try their breakfast tacos so one early morning, I did just that. Their tacos are delicious and fresh. They make it there for you and as many people that were lined up as I was leaving, it's a very popular place. They have a few tables but most of the customers were busy picking up the food. Ambiance is just ok because their main business is take out! They have another location in Kerrville. I've not been there but based on what I've tasted there, it's probably the same quality food. Used to go to the Kerrville location when I went college there. There was a kind of taco war between students. You were either team Mary's or team the other rival taco shop. I was team Mary's from day one. It was right next to campus, so it was ritual to stop by every weekend. I can say the tacos at the Boerne location are just as delicious, and I'm glad I can continue my weekend tradition of Saturday tacos. The Boerne location is larger than Kerrville's, and it has places to sit and eat inside which isn't available in Kerrville. There is always a line, sometimes out the door, but don't worry. They are pretty quick! I was born and raised in San Antonio, and San Antonians pride themselves in their tacos....sorry San Antonio...Mary's breakfast tacos are the best! The tortillas are my favorite part, large and fluffy. I go for a bean and cheese or a Barbacoa taco, but my husband like the Shaun or the silent Shaun (ask what they are.
