I ate dinner here with a friend yesterday. The food tasted great but sadly the Curious Pig messed up just about everything else that goes into one's dining experience. It's always sad to me when this happens, because in my opinion having great food is the hard part. Seeing them excel in that but fail the easy stuff is hard :( What they struck out on: - host and hostess chatting when we walked up, they seemed to be complaining about something. We didn't receive any smiles. Didn't feel like they wanted to be there. Yes I understand it's a job, but warm welcomes are important and they are the first impression for a customer when they walk in. - [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was 80 degrees and dreadfully humid outside since it had been raining. They had the doors open and I didn't see or feel any fans or air conditioning running.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I saw a patron using a hand fan while we ate. - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Since there was no air conditioning running, all the steam from the dishwashing and cooking in the kitchen came out to the dining area and lingered in the air the entire time we ate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We thought it was smoke at first but it didn't have a smell, when we walked out to leave I felt the steam leaving the kitchen area - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unbearably loud. I'm not sure why the acoustics are so bad but there is just nothing absorbing any noise. All the ruckus just echoes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Pretty sure this was mainly due to the tables being somewhat close together and the chairs having no sound buffers. It was suuuper loud when people got up to leave and when bussers were cleaning the tables. - Out of the fried green tomatoes which we were excited to order. - I ran out of water while eating. My drink didn't get filled until maybe 10-15 mins later. - Our waitress was running around, very busy. We didn't get checked on that much. It wasn't her fault. She was very courteous and was working hard. They seemed to not have enough staff on hand. - The napkins shed everywhere? When I opened my napkin a cloud of lint came up from it. It was all over my black shorts when we left. - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ends of the tables were all scratched up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decor is a bit of a hodgepodge. Having fake candles at each table for a place that gives southern farmhouse is an interesting choice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - The pimento cheese plate came with only 5 mini pieces of toast. We had to ask for more which was an upcharge. There's no way all the pimento cheese could be eaten on 5 pieces. Their home runs: - The food was amazing. I really liked the steak frites. I ordered the steak medium. It was nice and tender. The fries were seasoned and crispy. The chimichurri sauce was great. My friend and I both liked the pimento cheese and the bread that it came with. We weren't crazy about the house pickles. My friend loved her caesar salad. - The prices are great. Super affordable for high quality food. - Menu is expansive. - We had no wait to be seated. - No trouble parking. Location is convenient. As you can see, the list of cons is very very long. It was truly an odd thing to experience, since the place had such great food. I'm thinking the Curious Pig needs a restaurant management consultant or something? PARKING (4/5): I've only come here via Golf Cart and there has always been parking even on weekends. DRINKS (5/5): Every cocktail & mocktail here is 10/10!!! Just order the drinks, trust me! They are small in size, but absolutely delicious! $12 TROPIC LIKE ITS HOT (with ALCOHOL): this was SO GOOD!!! My absolute favorite. ORDER IT! $12 THE MOTHER PUCKER: also delicious, served in a very tiny glass, must sip slow to make last. Almost like a large shot. lol $12 PEACHTREE BANGER: fan favorite! Light & refreshing. Has Georgia written all over it. FOOD (3/5): The food is great sometimes and other times mediocre. I still really like this place, but it's not super consistent on the quality. $15 NASHVILLE HOT CHICKEN: this threw me off because it was more of a spicy BBQ sauce? It was very spicy, but I loved it! Just warning for others who might have a lower spice tolerance. Slightly too much sauce and I'm a sauce person. $2 (UPGRADED SIDE) BRUSSELS SPROUTS: these were slightly crispy but soft on the inside. We went right when they opened on a Sunday and glad we did because it filled up the server was great and super kind! We ended up having to wait extra long because the biscuits had gotten burnt and had to be remade. They gave us a complimentary appetizer to make up for it. The pork chops and country fried steak were also big hits. The corn bread was not exceptional but still very good. Not everything stood out as great but certainly nothing we had stood out as bad. It was all a decent value as well. We had a couple folks in our party who are very thrifty, always looking for a deal, and vocal when they don't feel like they are getting a value. Weird twist on BBQ. The house tots were good. The drinks were good. The side salad was good. The short rib sandwich was two chunks of short rib on a big sub roll with some uncooked onion topping. My friend brought me here for brunch as soon as it opened on a Sunday morning. It was a nice quiet time to stop in. Our cocktails were delicious and refreshing. My wife and I visited The Curious Pig on Friday, 12/19, around 5:30 PM. We were seated fairly quickly, and our server was polite and knowledgeable about the menu, though the food was significantly oversold compared to what was delivered. The first disappointment was the lack of bottled water--sparkling or still. The tap water tasted strongly of faucet water, which set an unfortunate tone from the start. We began with the Miso Bacon Brussels Sprouts and the Pork Belly Panzanella. The Brussels sprouts were drenched in vinegar, lacked Parmesan shavings, and--despite the name--contained no bacon. When we asked the server, he brought out bacon bits that appeared to come from a bag, which did not improve the dish. The Pork Belly Panzanella was just okay. The cornbread had great flavor, but for a restaurant called The Curious Pig, the pork belly should have been the star. Instead, there were only two very small pieces--about the size of a dime--which was disappointing. For dinner, we ordered the Brisket Board and the sliced pork belly. The brisket was dry, chewy, and poorly cooked, arriving room temperature to cold. The pulled pork was also cold when it reached the table. We alerted both the server and the manager, and they brought out three wings as a courtesy. Ironically, the wings were the best item on the board. They had great flavor, though they could have benefited from more smoking, as we noticed some pink areas in the meat. The BBQ sauce was good, but the board was absolutely not worth the $40 price point. The sliced pork belly should be renamed thick-cut bacon. It was not pork belly at all--just bacon slices no thicker than what you'd find at a grocery store. Overall, I was honestly surprised and disappointed. The food looks great in photos, but what is served does not match the presentation or expectations. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this establishment based on our experience. To spend $130+ on dinner with this experience is not worth it. read more

This is the first bad review I have ever written. I am sorry to say for Mothers Day I took 6 ladies to have Mothers Day Brunch and one of my lady guest we wanted to honor as a bride to be. We were very excited about this brunch. 3 of the guest drove over an hour to be with us. It was Horrible! We were of the first to arrive and got our food 2 hours later. Others were served long before arrived later. Food was all cold! Coffee was horid! Nothing was comped. It should have been. They offered 10% discount. We didn't eat much of it but after nothing to eat looking forward to this meal some ate a little to be polite I think. Extremely disapointed. Embarrassed that I brought them there raving about how good it will be. Unfortunite that It messed up the beginning of our Mother's Day plans that took up half the day! I am sure it must be better normally but Mother's day/Bride's day should have been special not a complete disasster. Entire 6 meals should have been comped! Because of this, I some of us at least will never return to pay tooo much for cold food after a 2 hour wait for it. This needed to be said. I would not recommend Curious Pig due to this experience. The place is pretty big with sectioned rooms, a quiet area, not so much and then a bar area, our server was nice and gave me drink suggestions as well as suggested the chicken risotto is a good pick when I was deciding between dishes which was truly up to his word. And for $22 it was a tiny bowl with 4 tough shrimp. No bread on the side or anything. My wife has the Philly sandwich. The meat was supposedly chopped ribeye but was full of fat and connective tissue. The bread was soaked in grease and taste like every food that was cooked on the griddle. Amazing, think sweet rice wine vinegar, cilantro, onion, garlicky goodness that you want drink after you run out of pork belly. It was that good. The star of my breakfast was the grits. If you have read any of my reviews you know I absolutely love grits and try them every where. These are noteworthy, perfect consistency and creamy. The steak is a filet, super tender and delicious, fries are fresh cut and tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was very clean and ambiance was nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only downside was service. While our waiter was fantastic, he was running between a lot of tables and it took almost thirty minutes to get the apps. Pair that with the parboiled Uncle Ben's style rice and pork belly that wasn't properly rendered for 15 bucks, ya must have lost your damn minds. We were also unimpressed with the Sunday Shea -- awful cornbread. A shame, because it was a great place before. The service is good but yikes, what happened? Chose to eat brunch here with a visiting friend on Saturday not long after opening. What-wah. It arrived like a lukewarm cup of chocolate milk and hardly lived up to the first word of the drink "HOT" chocolate. We were advised there was no microwave to even make it hot. Needless to say it eventually made its way to fully cold and not even the shot of Bailey's could make it 'feel' warm. Breakfast entrees of Nashville Chicken and Waffle and the Cornbread with chicken and gravy were delicious, but note, they didn't stay warm very long after being delivered to the table just because the place is so frigid. Fantastic meal! We got there for a late lunch with a couple friends after 3pm. We were immediately seated in the almost empty dining area. Melissa? asked right away if we wanted drinks while we looked at the menu. I tried "the curious pig" which is their take on an old fashioned. Nice drink. Heavy on the whiskey. We then shared the cornbread panzanella salad and the pork belly appetizers. The panzanella was well done with bread, veggies and cheese. Perfect mix of dressing. The pork belly crispy and moist served with some tasty arrancini made of risotto. Bomb! For entrees, there was fish tacos, country fried steak, fish and grits ( with Chilean sea bass and fish tacos and the daily special which was a smoked pork patty ( similar to a McRib) on a bun with pickles and bbq sauce. Every single dish was fantastic!! Portions generous, fish perfectly cooked, steak well breaded and not overcooked. Collard greens delicious and the french fries were hand cut and crispy! We could not have asked for a better meal! The service was impeccable. Melissa checked on us often, was knowledgeable about the menu, made suggestions, kept drinks filled and was so very nice to us.
