So today, I ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of sausage link. The butter and syrup slowly melted into my warm waffle, keeping the waffle fluffy and crispy. A go-to for breakfast in Griffin! The inside is a little small, but set up almost like a Waffle House. You can sit at a table or sit at the counter and watch the food being cooked. Oh yeah. I like this place. This is the second time in my life that I've had it and the first was over ten years ago. Since then ownership has changed. They offer a full menu all day. The breakfast menu is pretty diverse with all the regular food you can want as well. My wife ordered 3 authentic Mexican tacos at 7:15 this morning. Sounds crazy huh? She isn't big on regular breakfast food anyways so this is right up her alley. I opted for a red link, egg, and cheese biscuit and a bowl of grits. Let me say that it was impeccable. I passed up my regular spot this morning to give them a try. Kinda glad I did. I needed a different taste. They also make fresh squeezed orange juice too. My mother in law, her sister and I arrived at around 10am. There was only one other customer. I loved it. It's small, clean and simple. The menu is two sided and offers breakfast and lunch. They have fresh squeezed orange juice. You can watch your meal bring prepared. I ordered the veggie omelette and added mushrooms. It comes with your choice of grits or hash browns and toast or a biscuit. I ordered grits of course. Wow! Located in a small strip mall, if you blink you can miss it. Took me about four passes before I found the place, its close to the street but the sign is not prominent. The atmosphere is charming, it reminds me of a Waffle House but with a lot of personal touches. Sort of a blend of an old school diner and a cafe. The food selection is mostly short-order diner food like hashbrowns, burgers, and pancakes, but they have a few mexican options as well. I had the oatmeal with hasbrowns and bacon and it was very good. The oatmeal was not bland, but was not very sweet either, I could see some people wanting to add sweetner to it though it was perfect for me. Hashbrowns were fine, its hard to mess them up. The bacon was cooked perfectly, I hate having floppy bacon and they did an excellent job. Overall the place was very good. It might be a tad overpriced and hard to find, but I was not disappointed. I had typed in breakfast near me on my map app and this place came up. It is in a strip shopping center between a discount store and a laundromat. I drove past it and had to circle the block- between 11th and 12th streets. Signage is not prominent. It looked tiny but actually is larger inside than it appears from the sidewalk. I really was not expecting much, but I was so wrong! I hesitate to write this review and alert the world about this spot, but it is a real treasure. The menu has many traditional foods one might find in a brunch place -- eggs, bacon, pancakes, omelettes, burgers, sandwiches, shrimp and grits. But where it truly excels is in the many Latino dishes. I had the absolute best huevos rancheros here that I have ever put in my mouth! They are so flavorful. The chilaquiles are also incredible. The street tacos are $3 and $3.75 each depending on the type ordered. The tacos Al pastor are not the traditional spit roasted type but they have the pineapple, fresh onion and cilantro like the traditional dish and are served with lime wedges and radishes. The gorditas are delicious. They serve orange juice that is freshly squeezed from a machine and you can watch them feed the fresh oranges into it before pouring your glass. Delicious! The decor is simple--Formica topped tables, varnished wood paneled walls, an open cooking area with bar stools at the counter. But the servers and cool staff are all welcoming and friendly. They work hard and you may wait a minute for your menu and your order, but be patient- the wait is worth it. Since my initial visit I have found myself returning again and again. I am making my way through the menu and the morning I was having pancakes (perfectly cooked) I overheard the man at the next table tell his companion that his burger was the best he had ever eaten - have not tried that yet!
