First time we did the dance of "are you friendly " was when she came up asking if she can take loads of stuff I picked towards the counter. This way I can continue to shop. Hey...I am all about free hands to roam. So I said "SURE!" Her vibes were not exactly cool but I am not here to make friends so whatever. Well....here is the problem. Candice repeated about 4 times when she ringed me up that these items are "FINAL SALES!" Holy Hell Candice! I didn't know we are in that deep of relationship where before you insulting me. You haven't even given me a chance to do anything but feeling unwanted, unworthy of this purchase. I mean that is one smooth I am going to judge you without having so many words exchanged. To say it like either I don't understand English to maybe I am one of those Asian that like to buy sales shit and return it. I buy sales because my husband is recovering from cirrhosis, Candice! His clothes don't fit properly so sales clothes make it easier to have him in. Nice enough to wear while he is recovering but not too bad if he gained his weight back and I need to give it away. Attachment to clothing is not my taste and to be honest. Jcrew used to be better back in 2010. The value is decent and pretty reasonable for what it is. Amazing customer service by the manager and their team. I exchanged an item via mail back in Sept 2025 but never received a refund or the item. The item was sold out, hence why I never received it. I went into the store hoping they could handle the call for me with customer service. And they did just that while I shopped. I gave them the order number, and not only did they track it down, they were able to get me a $20 voucher without me having to ask. Lovely shopping experience. read more

The woman at the counter let a man cut the line (he literally strolled into the store and walked up to the register) after myself and other woman had been waiting for almost 10 minutes. She would have taken him too, if we hadn't said "hey, we're in line!" He might not have seen the line, but she definitely knew we were waiting, because the associates apologized for the wait a few moments earlier. So my guess is she was too intimidated to say anything to him. Then she proceeded to process my returns really haphazardly, and missed scanning 3 items. I had to count the items and confirm they were on the receipts myself. Then when I pointed out 3 items were missing she said "well that's why we're double checking." Which was kind of amusing, because I was the one that asked her multiple times to not let the items be put back on the floor until we confirmed all the returns had been rung up. People make mistakes of course, but we're talking an almost $1,000 return. There needs to be more attention to detail there. read more

It is a pair I needed, not just wanted. Haha! The Killshot 2 reissued about ten years ago. Since then, they've become lace-ups of lore, turning J. Crew into hype-beast headquarters every time they're released. You can only get them from J. Crew. I had to order them from the store. There was a blue Swoosh sample however, I got the green! Lucky for me they had my size. I chose in store delivery. Shipping is free! Lovely Danielle signed me up for the rewards program. You'll earn 1 point for every dollar you spend. I will never purchase from J Crew again. Despite having their credit card and following their size guidelines to a T the pants they sent were not the correct size and they refuse to even exchange them. Tags were on and I attempted a return within three days of receipt. It was a "final sale" without exceptions. No exchange despite having the item in the store. I have cut up my J Crew card. I had a very different customer experience than some of the other reviews that I read. Jessica, the store manager, went above and beyond. I bought an item online as a gift but it was the wrong size. I came in to exchange it but they no longer had that size in any nearby store. I was ready to give up and just return it but she took my information down and hunted it down for me... and honored the original price... and shipped it free of charge. Let me preface by saying that I have been a very loyal shopper with Jcrew for many many years. I recently had 2 separate issues with products purchased at Jcrew and very poor customer service. TWO! The first, I attempted to find out about a dry cleaning situation (my dry cleaner wouldn't clean a "dry-clean only" dress due to color running). The customer service team's response was "I'm sorry." They didn't offer any suggestions, any help, or any monetary compensation. The dress was dirty and unwearable b/c it could not be cleaned. The second was a return without receipt. I know it's helpful to have a receipt. My bad. However, the unhelpful response was disappointing. There was no help to look up my purchase by credit card, or by tag. There was absolutely no attempt to be helpful, no explanation, etc. I like Jcrew clothing, and the store looks great, but after two really disappointing experiences, I hesitate to shop there or recommend it to anyone. The attitude in this store is nuts. I was returning a pair of pants I bought online that just didn't look how I thought they would, and I took a candy out of the bowl on the counter while I was waiting for the transaction to be done. I was there on Sunday July 7th at 11AM. let me preface this by saying that I'm Asian. Once my family and I entered the store, nobody greeted us despite the sales associates not being inundated by any customers. Right after we entered, the sales associates immediately greeted the white couple behind us and asked them if they needed something. My 17 year old daughter applied for a job, and the employees were rude and disrespectful. I walked in and didn't get a hello how are you like the white ladies that entered after me did. No one came up to me and asked if I needed help. And when I looked up and the lady working she was watching me and I smiled she rolled her eyes and looked away. This is my second bad experience here and I guarantee I won't be coming back. Extremely poor customer service, please avoid this store if you can! Went into the store on Saturday and tried to purchase a few items--jacket, cardigan, sweater, chinos--the tall man working in the store was friendly and helpful, but when I walked up to the counter with my items in hand and asked this old lady if I can get a student discount on top of the 25% discount (I've done this a few times in other stores), she coldly said "no" and just flat out refused to listen. First off LOL, when I walked into the store it reeked of some kind of rotten dairy. It was really gross. I'm not sure why that was, but I tried to just bare it and let it go. But after the terrible customer service I was OUT! Wow, yeah like everyone else is saying... the employees there still suck. Cute clothes, but you could get them online, and I would suggest that over going into this store. I walked in and the salespeople looked at me but said nothing, and didn't smile. I browsed the accessories and saw a nail polish that had obviously been opened, so I thought I would try some on. Apparently that was a big mistake because I heard them scoffing at me from behind the counter and laughing to themselves. So I pretended not to hear them and kept using the nail polish, while one of them came over to me and said very condescendingly with a smile, "those aren't testers." and then laughed a little and walked back to stand behind the counter. I have gone there since then but that one experience caused me to realize that almost everyone that works there is completely rude and no one offers help unless you ask for it but then you have to deal with the attitude! Very poor customer service. I was so disappointed by the not unmotivated staff. I asked a young woman for help with a size in a shirt I really liked, and she said "what you see on the table is all we have", and walked away. Next step for good service would be to recommend something else, or let me know she'll be right back with me if she's busy with another customer. But, she could have cared less. More to the story - my husband and I were out shopping for outfits for a formal event we have coming up in the new year. Long story short he bought an expensive suit which needed to be tailored because they didn't have his pant size. The guy that was helping us said no problem, and that it should be ready by this weekend. We called (moments ago) and come to find out they haven't gone out to the tailor yet. After reading a few of the reviews below I am sad to say I too have had a horrible experience at this Jcrew location. My friend and I visited this location around 2pm today with hopes of getting some holiday shopping done. There was an employee right up front when we walked in but no greeting was offered. We passed the cashwrap where two other employees were standing, no greeting either. Nobody was being rung up and there were very few customers in the store. My friend and I started browsing the denim shop and an employee walked right by us as we were checking out the collection. Not a word from her too! As we passed through to the crewcuts area an employee was too busy steaming an outfit on a body form to acknowledge us. Her mind must be too focused on Holiday Rollout. As we continued to browse we got the feeling we were wasting our time in store that didn't deserve our business. The nail in the coffin was when we recognized a young man that used to work at the Jcrew in Emeryville. He was coming through with a cart of product and said in a rude tone "excuse me". Not "Are you guys doing ok?" He acted as if we were in his way. We had enough and headed for the doors. An older Asian lady was up front folding girls cardigans. As we were close to the door I stopped, turned and I SAID TO HER "thank you!". She hesitated, paused, and barely squeezed out a smile. She was mute! No words, just a barely there smile! I've gotten better service at your Napa factory location! It's true, this location is full of snobby mute employees. If I were a secret shopper they would have failed in all categories! Decent selection. The men's wear department is great for my boyfriend! They are always very friendly and helpful. The women's department is a totally different story. Although J. Crew is my favorite store, I don't like shopping in this location. The salespeople are rude and act like I'm an inconvenience to them. Last week I was trying get a room to try clothes on and was wondering where the sales people were, until I realized they were trying on clothes instead of helping customers. I don't know why so many 1 star ratings. I have always had very friendly and helpful service at this store (Marin). I have taken returns in from online orders and they were fine with me doing so. My only complaint is they don't always have everything in the store that they feature in the catalog and it's disappointing.
