Absolutely astounded by the staff here! I was looking for a suit set for an upcoming grad school interview and Rosa and Evelyn were such great help! They started me off with a few styles to try and continuously checked up on me at the fitting room to see if anything fit or if I needed a change in size. They probably went up and downstairs over ten times to help me out! I ended up buying one item and picking up the matching suit at a different location because this site was out of stock. The staff truly went out of their way to accommodate me as they called another location of my preference to request them to hold it. Another thing, I didn't even ask and they brought me heels to try on so I can see how the suit set looked when wearing heels. They knew exactly what look I was going for. I had a chance to explore other stores nearby for suit set hunting, and other store staffs did not grasp the idea of "professional interview". Apparently you can call ahead and make an appointment for suit fitting too. With that, they prepare everything for you before you come in, which I found pretty neat and convenient!! read more

Jcrew can be a bit pricy - averaging about 90-160 for a dress shirt. But for the quality of clothing, it's worth the investment. They don't carry petite sizes inside the store. The jewelry is lasting. Meaning, the metal doesn't fade and change color. The pricing for the jewelry could run about $100 more or less as well. I was on a J.Crew haitus for a few years while they were going through a style identity crisis, but I recently started venturing back to J.Crew to check on their progress and have to say that they've made some huge strides. The most exciting thing about my experience with this J.Crew location has been their shoe selection. Yes, their clothes are stylish and in line with current trends - colors/patterns/fabrics, but the shoe selection is really what surprised me. I didn't know that J.Crew was an Alden, Quoddy, Red Wing dealer. I had bought a pair of Quoddy Moccs a month before from another NYC dealer and was surprised when I saw the same brick sole on the shelf. J.Crew has really increased their market share in my shopping sphere. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, which makes this my new favorite location. I WILL BE BACK read more

i went there to check out some accessories and came out with the summer outfit done, retail therapy is very soothing in this cold April lol the store itself is well organized with sofa seating on first floor and 2nd floor (didn't check the 3rd floor) free water and bathroom to use on 1st floor very kids friendly, my twins play by the seating area while i do my shopping, stroller access is also very easy from what i see. staff is friendly and wonderful, shout out to Tyler, she can find your size even its an sale item!! there is no faking greeting and when you ask for help theres no help. overall it was great, live up to the "5th ave" standard i will make this one my j crew to go for sure (when its on sale, lol) read more

Bridal appointment was a success. I managed to get in touch with the bridal department a couple of times before my appointment via phone. My impression is that they're busy, but everyone was helpful each time I reached someone. The dresses I requested were available at the appt. Sample sizes only, so sizes 6 to 8 as far as the dresses I tried. My stylist was helpful, assisting with each dress, offering non-biased opinions and further insight on particular fabrics, etc. The appointment was in a shared space, which kinda killed our buzz because the other party was not happy to be there. We also weren't super impressed with the lighting, and bridal accessories offered were not all in stock. It's best if everything offered would be for sale, and I was surprised this was not the case. All of that said, I'm positive that I found a dress and I was happy with the level of service we received. A little more work on the overhead lighting and limiting inventory to only-available merchandise would definitely boost the customer experience. I was able to return a gown that I'd ordered online and didn't like. They accepted it, tag on, no questions asked, full refund. That's good service, in my opinion. read more

I've been shopping J.Crew since 1997, so you won't find much negativity here. Instead of doing a typical review of the store, I'm basing this review solely on the wedding collection now available at this location. They carry both bridal and bridesmaid dresses, but you must make an appointment if you want to shop the collection. The bridal suite is in a curtained off section of the store so you don't have to worry about being on display to the rest of the shopping public. I had some trouble making my initial appointment since the store was always super busy whenever I'd call. I ended up going to the store in-person to make an appointment for a later date. Each appointment lasts for an hour, and the evening sessions fill fast, so keep that in mind when booking your consultation. This was my first experience trying on wedding dresses, so I was a little nervous and didn't know what to expect when going into my appointment. The staff was super friendly and offered me sparkling water while I waited a couple minutes for the previous session to wrap up. My consultant was Patrick. He was professional, honest, and not at all pushy. Most of all he was patient despite the fact I was somewhat clueless as to which styles I wanted to try on! During my hour session, I tried on six dresses and Patrick noted the style names & prices for those dresses I liked the best so I could remember them later. I found a dress I really liked, although I wasn't convinced it's "the one." Overall I had a great experience. If I haven't found a wedding dress by the time the next collection comes out, then I will definitely be back! read more

The purpose of this note is to commend the team at J Crew at 91 5th Ave in New York. I experienced perhaps the best customer service I have ever experienced in my life while I was shopping there over the last two days. I had the pleasure of shopping for a tuxedo at J Crew at 91 5th Ave in New York over the last two days (coat, pants, tux shirt, bowtie, cufflinks, studs, suspenders, cummerbund - the whole getup). Throughout the entire experience, I was so impressed with the level of customer service delivered by Leroy, John, Marcus, and the girl with glasses working in the men's section whose name I didn't catch. John was attentive and eager to help when I was trying on different sizes of coats and pants. After I had left J Crew and realized I had neglected to purchase a cummerbund, Marcus was very helpful over the phone as I tried to explain the forgotten cummerbund and request a waiver for expedited shipping. When I went into the store to follow up, the girl with glasses working in the men's section was friendly and understanding as I explained my case. Leroy stepped in, and step-by-step walked me through the process to coordinate with J Crew Factory customer service on waiving expedited shipping of a cummerbund (was out of stock on J Crew's regular website). I was amazed at what everyone was able to do for me and the extra mile everyone went to help me. I was amazed at how everyone's attitude seemed to be, "Yes, we can make that happen!" rather than what you usually see in situations like these, "Sorry, nothing I can do for you." Overall, I felt the entire team went above and beyond. They were warm, genial, and genuinely helpful. I left the store feeling good, like I had been treated with kindness and humanity. I have never once in my life left a review of something - I was so impressed with everyone at J Crew at 91 5th Ave that I was moved to write a review for the first time. The exceptional customer service made it a pleasure to shop there and I will definitely be going back - not just because I like J Crew's clothes, but also because I feel genuinely grateful and appreciative for the kindness, patience, and true desire to help that these employees showed me. This JCrew reminded me why I like internet shopping so much. Staff totally pulled the "I'm so busy running around, I really don't have time to answer your question, and I can't even make eye-contact because that might result in a human interaction." That isn't totally fair, the woman in the kids department was really personable. She also was nearing middle age, and maybe she realized that having an attitude is just a lot more work. Other staff were baffling. After being asked a direct question, one staff member said something into her headset, and literally wandered off. I made an appointment for the bridal salon. I traveled two hours to get to NYC. Fortunately, the sales person there was great, all business, and professional. However, if you think your size is more than an 8, call ahead to check the sample sizes. They didn't have any liquid jersey samples larger than an 8. I dunno, maybe fatties just don't do JCrew. I would have expected more, this isn't Abercrombie. If it weren't for the sales person in the bridal salon, this review would have been a one-star. I'm sure JCrew management is not actually reading these reviews, I'm only posting it on the off chance someone at this store cares. One day you're going to wake up and realize you've outgrown Abercrombie and Fitch. When that happens, head to Jcrew to revamp your wadrobe. Donate your old AF stuff to some poor kid who can only afford Kmart and buy some shirts and sweaters that don't make you a walking billboard. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and if you are a student you get a 10% discount. I haven't found XS in their stores but it is available online. Just the fact that they acknowledge short people exist makes them OK in my book. read more

Very Disappointed in the store and staff today. I am standing up in a wedding in the spring and the bride asked us to check out a couple of styles at J Crew There is not a J Crew bridal in Michigan so I thought I would check them out while in NYC for fashion week. I did not know you had to have a appointment to try on a $300 dress. Really ? They find it acceptable to have me mail order several dresses back and forth rather than to have a simple area to try on a few styles for look and size. I was told there were no appointments available for a week or more and that was that.! So, do not expect to pop in and try on a dress even if you know what you are looking for. I was very turned off by the matter of fact, no exceptions, what where you thinking attitude of several of the staff, I did not spend any more time or money in the store. And I hope I can talk the bride into looking elsewhere for our dresses. For J Crew to have limited locations and a no pop in policy. Not a very positive experience. I will not be back. read more

Went to floor myself and found both items. Went back into dressing room and asked an associate if I could leave the items I was going to purchase while I tried these items. When I came out associate was no where to be seen. When I inquired about items I was told they were probably at cash wrap. They weren't! So frustrated I walked out empty handed! read more

Bridal suite is anything but sweet. Our appointment was cramped, crowded, and apparently double booked. There is no private space and bridal consultants are both unknowledgeable and unhelpful. I should start off by saying that I come here every other month! I love this J.Crew the sales people are so friendly (well most of the time) especially in the Men's floor, they are all knowledgeable of their stock and of all the items that season...I should also mention that there are always sale items here and they are actually pretty good, just this week I got a nice pair of swim trunks for $12 down from $98 and they actually had a small in stock...during the winter they serve hot chocolate and homemade chocolate chips cookies which is a nice touch! Dont forget to bring your college ID for an extra 15% off!!! read more

One day I realized that I looked more like an overgrown private school kid (and, for the record, I went to public school) than a working professional and so off I went to find some digs. Now, I hate shopping and I have absolutely no sense of style and no eye for fashion. Hence I headed to J.Crew where I know things are predictably office appropriate. The upside is that the guy working the dressing room, Jose Mendez, was absolutely fabulous. I stepped out of my little cubicle and said, "Does this match?" He looked me over and said, "Absolutely not." Thank god! A sales person who won't try to sell me things that don't look good. This is what customer service SHOULD be. The reason I gave only four stars is because, it turns out that J.Crew upped their sizes by 2 measures! A size 0 is really a size 2, and sometimes a size 4. Nothing fit me except the XS shirts and sweaters. No matter, I went next door and bought a skirt from Bannana Republic (where folks were not as helpful) and came back to J.Crew where, despite have a jillion other customers to serve, Jose helped me put together an outfit that looked great and showed me how I could use the new things with clothes I already owend. Up until last week when I cancelled my JCrew card I had for almost a decade I was a pretty devout shopper. Over that time period I saw a decrease in trends, loss of stylish prep look to a more flannel hipster one, and a mega decrease in what they offer men versus that way chic stuff they offer women. Sometimes I walk into a JCrew and wish I could either a) be a girl just to be able to wear this; or b) wish every girl I knew dressed like this. Guys? Not so much. Not sure what happened to you, JCrew! And since WHEN are you in any position to offer overpriced merch? Banana offers MUCH better quality, style, and trends. Oh, and what's with the $25 for every $500 I spend on my JCrew card? Oh, you mean you copied Banana and Gap because people bitched you out for not offering any incentive program? Oh, I see. The staff was extremely friendly and very welcoming. The selection was also fantastic. The best part were the cashiers. My cashier- who's name I didn't catch- was awesome. I went to the store to exchange two t-shirts and a pair of shoes for another size in the men's department. The cashier, who had been helping a man buy suits before getting on a register, barely payed attention to me. I explained that I need to exchange the items and for what sizes. The lady kept talking to the man she helped earlier and basically ignored me. After finishing her conversation with the man, went and got the two shirts I asked for. I asked her about the shoes and she acted like it was a surprise. Oh you want to exchange those too? Like I had never mentioned it before. THE WHOLE TIME SHE KEEPS TALING TO THE OTHER MAN. Finally I get the shoes as well. She then refunds me for everything. I asked her why she refunded me when it was an exchange. She replies that I didn't tell her that is what I wanted to do. Seriously lady? I said it 3 times and what else would i be doing? It seems that she did not know how to work the register as well. The whole thing took forever and was very frustrating. To top it all off when i got home the shoes look worn and the box lid didn't even fit the box. Returning everything today and never going back to that store. They should have incorporated more dressing rooms. Waiting 20 minutes to try on clothes really kills the desire to buy them. (We still did, but mostly because he seriously needed shirts.) This review is for their bridal appointments in the bridal suite. For as long as I can remember, I've always loved the Jcrew bridesmaid dresses. I love how versatile they are and the price isn't bad. It also helps that I love the brand! The bridal suite is fairly small. There isn't much to choose from on the rack and I was disappointed they didn't have all the styles on the rack. I wanted to see them in person to see if I liked them. The girl that was helping us wasn't too helpful and I felt like we were bothering her when we asked for more dresses to try on. All of the dresses were really dirty and they are usually a size 8 in the sample sizes. I would suggest coming here to see the dresses in person and try them on and then order them online. I was a little disappointed in the dresses since they looked better online. I wish the girl that helped us brought out more variety instead of us telling her what we wanted. They need to make this area bigger so they could put more samples on the floor for us to see. read more

Amazing vibe when you walk into this store. The associates are very welcoming and kind when assisting you. A shopping experience you will not forget. This store has 3 floors, Women's on 1st, Women's and Kid's on 2nd, and Men's on 3rd. The product they carry from season to season follows trends. In the men's shop they have a section for shoes that carries New Balance, Nike, and a few other brands. They have some nice watches displayed in capsules. The sale area selection is pretty bad, usually because all the good stuff sells out fast. Overall, great store. read more

Surprisingly, this was the last NYC J. Crew I took the train to visit. Very large location with lots to choose from. Third floor is men's and has a really neat look and feel. Decent sale section, but I guess it wasn't the best time to come for that. The staff was very friendly and helpful (unlike SoHo) too! I'm giving this location four stars because of the location. Just a short walk from the 14th Street Path with all of my other favorites within 3 blocks (Banana Republic, Gap, Joe Fresh, Zara, H&M). Overall, it's better than the SoHo and Columbus Circle locations in my opinion, but not as good as the Rockefeller Center or Madison/Midtown East locations. read more

Horrible experience in the 91 Broadway men's store. No one offered help, which is fine, but then a sales associate stepped between me and the articles I was looking at to help another customer. Again, whatever, everyone is rude these days. But he didn't quickly grab something and step aside. He and his customer stood between me and the merch and discussed the items at length while I stood there like an asshole waiting to resume what I was doing. He acted like I didn't exist. Best part? It happened a SECOND TIME in another part of the store. I was so shocked by the behavior that it didn't occur to me to say something or complain. I like the small salon (two dressing rooms), after all its an intimate shopping experience and they don't have a HUGE line of dresses. Dear J Crew, I used to love your preppy style and look and I was going to even use you for my Bridal wear. I booked an appt. where you were helpful if not making me feel like I was in a "boutique" store and not a chain. I bought a beautiful dress that looked meh online but great on. AND THEN....You shipped a $700 wedding dress to my front door that was ripped open and left on my front steps.You use UPS and you do not require that someone must sign even when a package is over $500. Unacceptable. I'm lucky they didn't steal it. I called immediately customer service to complain and the only question was if the dress was fine and wearable. No apology, no asking if I wanted another one and when I returned it to the store, same blaise attitude, but this time it's not ok. I don't want to pretend that this customer service is even passable when the manager of the Flagship NYC store tells me to email this to your customer service. Maybe I live in NYC and things get stolen, but I at least want to feel like I am important when I spend that much money at your store. It isn't just one person I spoke to, it's the attitude of the company I am sincerely disappointed in. I returned the dress and I think we are done. Nice knowing you. Advice... I love the simplicity of jcrew gowns and had my heart set on one for months leading up to the appointment. The sales associate who fitted me was unfriendly, reluctant to offer her opinion and seemed very indifferent to which gown I chose. I couldn't make a decision on the spot so she gave me her card to give her a call when I made my decision. I called three times the next day and nobody at the store ever picked up. I left a message on her personal line on the third try, asking her to call when she was available so I could order the gown. I never heard back and was so fed up with the bad service that I ended up buying my gown elsewhere! I will not be recommending jcrew to other brides. read more

I frequent this location on rare occasions but I love the layout, displays and selections. I don't know if this is their flagship but it must be one of the larger stores in the city. This review is specifically for the bridal salon. I have a string of bridesmaid duties coming up and the girls at this JCrew are my saving grace. The bridal line for JCrew is only available online but this is one of the few JCrew locations where you can try on the sample sizes and also see the colors up close. You have to make an appointment beforehand as the space is tiny but cancellations are common. I was actually able to get a same day appointment because someone else cancelled. I suggest doing some research online beforehand so you know what is available. When you make the appointment they will ask you what dress you are interested in so it's helpful if you know ahead of time. If you're completely clueless they do have iPads linked to the website to help you. I told the sales girl exactly what I wanted and she pulled the dresses for me. I tried it on and made my decision. It was much easier to decide after trying it on in person rather than guessing based off a model's picture online. If your size is significantly off from the sample size they can clip the back to help you guestimate or take your measurements. Once you are done they take down your information and they will ship the dress to you. The dress I wanted was actually on backorder but they were courteous enough to overnight ship it for free for me. Overall a quick and smooth appointment. read more

I would not normally shop here but I had a gift card so checked it out. The store is organized and neat which I always enjoy. I picked up a few basics, a cardigan for $30, a tshirt for $10 and pixie pants which I have read about for years for $87 so all in feel like I got a good deal which is very important to me. The real reason why I am writing this review is because of Dan who was my sales associate/stylist. He was so helpful and knowledgeable and easy to work with. If only all associates were this way in NY! He helped me with sizes and really knew the materials and how they lasted over time. They helped me with a size they did not have in the store and made an effort to get me all the right information where most associates would have just brushed me off. Thanks Dan! read more
