Save your money and skip the headache. A deceptive stylist, Jessi, gave me highlights only on top after I was specific I wanted them all over. The toner was off from what I requested even after removing & re-toning. Then the cut was rushed by a different stylist because of a scheduling error. Not to mention the cut was done BEFORE removing the first toner & re-toning. A nightmare of split ends were left behind. A complete waste of money. Then the manager, Griffin, was unapologetic, over talking me, & very abrasive during a call about the service. I could not go back because a family member had to have open heart surgery outside of the country! They still refused a refund and were rude about it! Extremely unprofessional and I am beyond disappointed in the service/ personal treatment. I was even told my personal schedule was not their problem. Also, that they had a "business to run" & their stylist wouldn't get paid in the case of a refund. Why should a dishonest stylist get paid for doing exactly what I didn't want? read more

I came to this salon for getting my hair done by Chase Weisenberger a Master stylist at the salon. I made that choice after spending countless hours scanning through reviews, seeing before, and after pictures both on Google and Instagram. I booked my appointment almost 2 months earlier(there was nothing available with Chase before that time) and was excited to have my hair done by Chase. I brought with me my inspiration picture to the appointment, and we spoke about exactly how I envisioned my hair to look- classy with multidimensional highlights and gray coverage. I specifically asked for nothing over the top. Chase was very easy to talk to and I got the sense that he understood what I was looking for. After spending over four hours on what happened to be my birthday, I was taken aback when even wet my hair looked flaming red. Seeing my discomfort Chase toned it down and I left with almost dark red toned under the light, one dimensional hair. He was kind enough to offer a color correction at no charge at all which I went for earlier this week. Again, he was kind, and we looked at the inspiration picture, my prior picture and talked at length about my vision. I specifically mentioned one more time that I wanted some blonde highlights, but would still like a dark base closer to my natural hair color. After spending another four hours my hair is just blonde! Not some blonde highlights.... Completely blonde! My lower layer of hair is half dark-my natural hair color, and half blonde . Even the crown of my head, the blonde starts approximately 3 inches away from my hairline making a stark contrast. I'm certain Chase sensed my dissatisfaction and offered to make any tweaks, I desired. I just thanked him and left without airing my discomfort. My reasoning: I don't think after spending over eight hours and two attempts to get my hair done at a price point, which is fairly Steep by someone who supposedly a master stylist, I am brave enough for another attempt. It's not tweaks I need... it's a full overhaul! Unfortunately: despite the kindness and offers to make changes geared towards a satisfied customer, I cannot recommend Chase to anyone! read more

I first came in and saw Rachael to get color done. I hadn't colored my hair in over a year and my hair was really healthy. She even commented on it. Also, I'm naturally blonde and my hair lightens really quickly and I wanted balayage with a darker root. We discussed this in detail before she colored my hair. After coloring, I was happy with my hair. No issues. A week later I booked an appt with Rachael for hair extensions. The salon's whole gimmick on Instagram is "custom colored and blended extensions". And for how much they cost, ($1500 after all was said and done) they should be custom. Well Rachael put the extensions right in my hair, didn't color them at all and didn't trim to blend them. So they looked a hot mess. My natural roots were dark blonde then I had these big patches of platinum that showed through under my hair not to mention the ends were way thicker than my natural hair. She assured me though, that they looked great even though I said at least five times I don't think these match my hair. So I reach out to the owner Jess about having them fixed, never get a response. Finally I call the salon and talk to Mackenzie who told me she had an opening and would fix them for me. She was a godsend, she colored, blended them into my hair and they looked great. I decided I would go to her from then on. A month later the extensions were starting to slip out so i took them out..and...all of my hair had broken off up to my shoulders. At this point I didn't know if the extensions did it or the color. I was so upset. I had spent a year growing my hair out. I immediately reached out to the owner and Mackenzie. Mackenzie got back to me very quickly and told me to come in to see what we can do. The owner...crickets. I go in to see Mackenzie and bless her heart, there's nothing she can do. She concluded that it had to be from the bleach and my hair had been severely over processed. She cut my hair to even it all out for me and then charges me for the cut. I know it wasn't her fault, and they are all independent contractors but damn, I could have at least gotten a complimentary hair cut. The owner finally reached out to me days later basically to ask, did you get the haircut? No apology, no offer to make it right, nothing. I was so defeated at this point I just replied yes. And left it alone. So it has been about 6 months and I've been extensions free and growing my hair out again but obviously it takes time. I still have all of the extension hair and it is pretty much new since I only used it for a month. The hair alone costs about $900 so I'd like to use it again while I grow mine out. I've reached out to the owner again multiple times about possibly putting the hair back in for me at a discount, not even free...just a discount. Something to say hey, I'm sorry we butchered your hair after you paid us a ridiculous amount of money, but no luck. I spoke to Mackenzie and she even reached out to Jess but still no response. I guess my weave and I will never be reunited. I'm attaching pictures for reference. They are of my hair before color, my hair with the non-blended extensions in, and my hair after I got them taken out. I've been to J Gold Salon twice now and had amazing experiences both times! I found Rachael on Instagram & fell in love with how amazing she does hair! I was able to get an appointment the same week. The salon is adorable! It's decorated so cutely & all of the stylist are super friendly. From the moment you walk in, you feel important and taken care of. Rachael is a hair god!! I've never had someone do my hair as well as she does! You can tell how much pride and enjoyment she has while doing your hair because she is touching ever piece making sure it's perfect. I brought a few inspiration pictures & let her do her thing. & I couldn't be more pleased! She's super friendly too which is a bonus :) Highly recommend Rachael! DISASTER. Super disappointed in my experience with this salon, I would like to start off by saying I am a former hair stylist so I know a thing or two about what goes on behind the chair. My hair was TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SHADES OF YELLOW in the front and back.... not to mention it was severely dried out and BURNED OFF .. I had breakage around my front hairline even after I expressed to the stylist I was concerned about that area since it was already pre lightened.. I asked to be lighter I knew it wasn't going to be blonde & I said I wanted dimension ...her and another stylist teamed up to quickly foil me and then rinsed half my foils out too soon which is why it was spotty and uneven.. I've had to pay another stylist at least $1200 to color correct me and put extensions in to hide my breakage... I cried from how disgusting my hair turned out and left work in tears after my coworkers wouldn't stop bothering me about how I could let someone fuck me up so bad.. I understand things happen but to let me walk out and pay you $425 as if nothing was wrong baffles me.... I hadn't even seen how uneven the back was until I got home... took over a month to finally get my refund after several attempts at reaching the owner ... we talked on the phone and she agreed to give me my money back but it never happened...I messaged her at least 10 times on Instagram and never heard anything. It took several attempts at me calling the salon to finally get this squared away. Moral of the story DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE !!!!!! These women are working way too quickly to pay attention to detail & seem to only care about their "important clients" you would think I would be more of a priority since she fucked me up so bad .. but no.. now I'm another bad review read more

I normally go to jacob k hair but they were booked up so I decided to give this salon a try. did not have a great experience even tho I went in the second time to get it fix but I left the salon pretty much the same as I walked in so waste of time and money. Left with foil lines still left in my hair. I messaged the owner my feedback and never got a response. Very unprofessional. Would not be back. I have been coming to J Gold for over 5 years now. No one else is allowed to touch my hair! No one else can honestly get it right - they're the only ones who know how to get the ashy color I want (my hair lifts bright orange). This is the only place in Atlanta to go IMHO! As long as I've known Jess she has worked 8am-9pm every day taking clients of her own let alone dealing with what all comes with being a business owner... and god bless her she is doing the best she can and running an AMAZING business! My recommendation if you have an issue is to calmly call the office (they have a receptionist), leave a message and have them handle what you need. They are very understanding but when you have an issue with any other fully functioning business - do you just ring up the owner? There's procedures in place for this reason - so you can actually get a response! Even her own personal friends follow this procedure just like with any business ‍ I have recommended HUNDREDS of girls and guys who drive/fly from all over the country to come to Jess and her team. Do yourself a favor and get that J Gold famous balayage you see everyone talking about. Also side note... if you can't get ahold of someone who is standing on their feet for 11 hours a day with back to back appointments who often don't take a meal or break or have their phone on them to ensure the attention and care to their clients.... think twice, have some sympathy and maybe just call the front desk instead like everyone else. ‍ read more

Well I went to the new salon at 3324 Peachtree and saw Rachel Colvin (I've seen her before) and the salon itself was nicely decorated, in a good location, and the staff all were so friendly. Only complaint is that Rachel doesn't stand behind her color. My hair was very brassy and fried at the ends (I needed a trim and didn't have time to get that done) after I saw her and I continuously tried to schedule an appointment with her (see convos attached) Also, my companies headshot that will be like this for a couple years - woohoo (sarcasm). All I can say is, schedule your appointments with the actual salon, and don't take your stylists word if they say they will fix it. I would have liked to think they would cover the cost of a glaze/toning if a stylist didn't do the best of jobs seeing that they represent them. read more

I had stalked Johanna on IG and FB bc I desperately didn't want to do beachy waves on myself for a Christmas party. Sad right, that's literally all I wanted. Johanna wrote me back on IG 2-3 days later and I made an appointment. She was very friendly when I met her and I loved my hair. Other than that, nothing was special about this salon. However, it was absolutely not worth going thru all that and I should have sucked it up and done it myself since I exerted so much energy and time into trying to reach them. I know they moved locations so I'm guessing they expanded. If that's the case, I hope for her business and reputation she hired a damn receptionist. It's amazing how hairdressers and nail salon people suddenly think they are the only ones in a city of 8M and provide 0 customer service because they think they are so special! One particular hairdresser in this salon, Johanna, did my hair once. Since II really have no time to look for another and thought we can continue working together. So I called to make an appointment again. After assuring me she has 0 availability and me asking her to look ahead and see what she has. (I have 3 full and 1half day as options)! After giving me appointments on the only 2 days that I told her I can't, she point blank told me she doesn't have ANY appointments(not even in Fall of 2018!!!) and that I should look for another hairdresser. WOW! ... Well then! Bye Felicia! Do you really think there are no other amazingly talented hairdressers in the city?! I'm not sure about the others but since this salon has given her an opportunity to work there, I imagine integrity is not their priority. And therefore the whole salon gets the review. Plus their parking situation is ridiculous! The salon is cold and uninviting actually. So all in all I'm not going back and you shouldn't either! read more

Horrible. Aloof receptionist who has no idea what it means to provide an itemized receipt or explain a breakdown of the charge. Stylist (Mackenzie Wood) does not listen to the desired shade/tone during the consultation. She tried to create a more blended transition from dark roots to lighter ends per my request, but ended up over-toning my hair including the ends, which I explicitly stated to leave BLONDE. They ended up BROWN with small hints of blonde. She proceeded to argue that the ends are still blonde despite the fact that they looked NOTHING like the image I showed her. She claimed that I'm comparing an image of curled hair to my existing straight hair which is why I don't see the blonde. Though I understand that curled hair shows existing highlights better than straight hair, the color isn't going to change from brown to a cooler blonde just by adding some curls. To resolve this, she had to bleach my ends to remove the toner and bring back the blonde I had. I explicitly told her I did not want to bleach my already damaged hair but alas that's what had to be done because she did not properly listen to my request. Take your money, hair, and time elsewhere! There's nothing exceptional about this place. EDIT: Might I add that this is THE WORST haircut I've ever received, that too for $100. No more than 10 minutes (if even) were spent cutting my long, mid-back length hair. My hair is uneven and very blunt. The layers are not blended at all, so wearing my hair straight is not an option unless I go get it fixed elsewhere. I've gotten a better haircut from Great Clips back when I was a broke college student. HOW PATHETIC! AVOID THIS PLACE. All show, no talent. read more

Have had to go twice to get hair color fixed and hair stylist never tried to understand what went wrong or what I even wanted. I have been leaving voicemails and messages for the owner to return for the past 3 weeks however there has been no attempt at trying to reach back signifying that the owner is ignoring me at this point. I also, as another reviewer below, have had issues getting in touch with the salon and/or owner through their landline and have used social media to try to contact them with no success. Additionally, prices are not set per experience of the hairstylist. Terrible service and customer satisfaction. The worst color and cut experience ever. I brought my daughter in for pre-prom lightening/highlights (she has natural gold tones and light brown hair - shouldn't be a challenge to go lighter, right?). Well she came out with DARKER hair than she went in with. We were both in shock at first thinking our eyes were playing tricks on us... then she started crying her eyes out in the car. I called the salon to explain the situation, and was hung up on by the unbelievably useless and rude desk person. Later I received a call from an equally useless staff person who said she would call me back for a time to come in and "fix it". Next day, still haven't heard back and in all truth, I wouldn't let them near my daughters hair with a 10ft barge pole. I have never left a bad review on Yelp, but this was such an awful experience all around that if I could give this salon a zero star I would. Stay away! read more

Today was my first visit at J Gold salon. My appointment was with Rachael, I showed up early, because I was coming from outside the perimeter and didn't know how traffic would be. She took me early, and while it definitely was not necessary (I'm a hairstylist, too) I thought it was very kind of her. The salon is incredibly welcoming, I walked in and the first person I saw was Jess and she was smiling and so personable. Upon consultation, I told Rachael what I like and what I would reasonably like to achieve. But I was fully trusting in her ability to work her magic. It was so incredible to give someone else the reigns with my hair. It was incredible relaxing, fun and I just kept smiling because I was happy to be there! They made me feel right at home. Rachael was attentive, she was patient and she gave me exactly what I needed and wanted. My hair is truly perfection, she didn't cut corners once during the process! I felt like a priority, I felt that my wants were important and I haven't felt this great about my own hair in a long time. It's tough when we as hairstylist forget to take care of ourselves. First of all, Jess has built an amazing team of kind, friendly, and most of all a professional staff. I have been to MANY hair salons, and I have had almost everything done to my hair from bleaching (I have almost black hair, but it is dark brunette) to Brazilian blowouts, to K tip extensions, to weft extensions and this salon is by far the best. When spending money and supporting a business, I look for multiple qualifiers: A clean, easy to get to salon, friendly staff who knows what they are doing, and walking away from that salon feeling satisfied that the staff there did their absolute best to try and give me what I was looking for. Getting your hair done is never going to be exactly like the Picture you took off Pinterest, understand that, but if you go to J Gold Salon your hair will be pretty dang close. I have been seeing Morgan at J Gold Salon and she is an absolute dream when it comes to my hair and accommodating me with her busy schedule. All in all, this salon is amazing in every way and if i could give Jess and her team more than 5 stars I would 100%. Also, as far as pricing goes for the quality of their services, their prices are a steal and are pretty average for Atlanta Salons. I have never walked away from a Salon feeling so content with my hair, but also they make you feel like family. read more
