This was really over rated. I had the Halibut ( the driest piece of shoe leather)$35, my husband had the New York Strip which he enjoyed. We just left this restaurant. It's our first visit since the new owners have taken over and I have a mixed review. I had a difficult time trying to determine between three and four stars. I chose three because of the position of managing partner that another guest at the restaurant told me this man held. He was rude, unaccommodating and would have gotten me a non dry champagne if I was ordering off the menu. He wouldn't have made an excuse. We tend to go to Buckhead for prime steak, but heard about this restaurant and wanted to give it a try since it's local. The food was delicious and our waiter, Danny, was first class. We had an unfortunate experience with someone I was told was a managing partner, Frank, who may cause us not to return. If this was factual, it will eventually be the downfall of the establishment. We went to their champagne/chocolate bar which, at that moment in time, consisted of 4 sealed bottles of champagne and two small open and flat, brut bottles. We started to open a non-flat bottle and he came around the corner to take the bottle out of my friend's hand. When we tied to explain to him about it being flat and the fact that it was dry, he wanted to argue with us. He told us that it was all that they had. He treated us like he thought we had not previously ordered the all you could eat/drink champagne and chocolate bar. He was curt, rude and not dealing with customers in a manner I would think his title would require. read more

We were excited to have a nice steakhouse open up in Cherokee County. Our dinner was to celebrate Valentines Day, but a day early to beat the crowds. Steaks were good, but I'm not sure they were $50 cuts. Sides were good, we got asparagus (delicious) and onion rings. There was a dessert and champagne buffet set up to celebrate Valentines Day. $25/person for chocolate desserts and room temp champagne...we opted out. Don't think they've done quite enough to update the place to make it a $75/person dinner spot, but it has promise. read more

Omg if you haven't been to J Michael's Prime Legendary Steaks you are SORELY missing out! We went for my fiancé's birthday dinner this evening. Is it pricey? YES. Don't go there thinking it's a cheap dinner. But BY THE GODS it is worth it! Service? Britany was incredible. Food? Literally the best steak I've ever had, and I've been a LOT of places in this world! The best steak I have had in years. The dry aged beef is now my favorite. The tomahawk steak is big enough for two. Awesome fries. Fabulous French onion soup and to die for cheesecake. Oh and huge shrimp in their shrimp cocktail. I had a mixed drink that was an apple flavored. It tasted like Christmas. Will definitely make this my steakhouse of choice. They have a decent kids menu. The food was phenomenal! We spoke with Frank, before we ordered, to ensure the kitchen could safely prepare my meal, since I have Celiac disease. He was wonderful and helped me navigate the menu. We ordered the king crab legs... absolutely worth every penny. We also ordered filets and multiple sides. All of it was delicious. The only complaint I would have would be that the buser and server were a little over eager to clear our dishes. Multiple times, we would have a fork in our hand and were asked if we were finished eating. We had to keep telling them we were still working. It was my husband's birthday. There was mention of a free dessert at the beginning of the meal, but it was never mentioned again. With all that said, we will still definitely be back. Maybe we will come earlier... I think it is possible that maybe we got too close to when they were trying to close up shop. We even left a little bit of our wine, because we felt so rushed. When we left, it was 9:15. Anyway, I highly recommend. After tip, it was about $375. It's expensive, however, when you don't eat like this all the time, it was absolutely worth the experience! Absolutely delish! read more

Very disappointed in both food and service, and I will not go back. They couldn't get my salmon cooked correctly until the third try. When they finally got it right, the rest of my party had finished eating. The manager apologized and said it was hard for the chef to get the temperature medium-well. Really??? What is a chef trained to do? And the salmon was not seasoned at all; it had no flavor when I finally got it. Then, as an apology for the very poor salmon, they comped my husband's (cheaper) lobster bisque rather than my salmon. And they insist on valet parking your car even though there is plenty of parking ten feet from the front door. This place wants to be something that it just isn't. read more

Exceptional experience in an unsuspected area. The food was excellent, drinks superb and service wonderful. It initially appears to be very expensive, but worth it and most steaks/dishes are easily shared. Portions on almost everything are shareable. The Roasted Beet Salad is incredible, lobster rolls are some of the best I've had, lobster bisque is a must and the steaks are as good, if not better, than most of your very well-known Steakhouses. It's called Prime, which makes you think steaks, but the seafood is excellent and the Vegan Lasagna was delicious. read more

So happy to have an upscale restaurant in Canton. Definitely a steak paradise, but great for vegetarians and vegans as well. They serve wagyu beef, local grass fed and farm fresh products. Carly was fantastic! Hubs and I celebrated my birthday dinner here. Carly pointed me in the direction of martinis, the tropical spice was delicious and pomegranate too! Chef Elliott's flair on the french onion soup with bourbon added a sweetness to a normal favorite. Steak was cooked to perfection and Loaded potato huge! Eggnog creme brûlée delish! What a great high end restaurant right here in Canton. The food is a bit pricy, but was VERY good! We had the Mediterranean salad, which I highly recommend. For main we had the ribeye and sea bass. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sea bass was to die for. Also recommend the Brussel sprouts and their home made desserts. The portion sizes are large, so come hungry! read more

Since it was our first visit, she did a wonderful job explaining different dishes to us and was very attentive ....We were celebrating our Son's birthday, so it was very special. This may be our new "go-to" in Canton! We took the advise of several friends and asked for Hayley. She was incredibly attentive and made great suggestions. We started with the wedge salad, which was enormous. My filet mignon was a perfectly cooked medium rare and my husband raved about his New York strip. We shared the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The potatoes were incredibly fluffy and more than enough for two. The brussel sprouts were roasted with goat cheese and bacon. One word, "YUM!" We finished with a decadent three layer cake and espresso. The martinis and wine were reasonably priced. The steak was a little pricier than most North Metro Atlanta upper tier steakhouses, but worth every penny. We will definitely go back! read more

Casual fine dining at it's best! There are three things that are important when evaluating the value a restaurant offers; Atmosphere, service, and the quality of the food. J. Michael's delivers on all three. One of the most important elements is, of course, the quality of the food. The centerpiece is top quality aged beef prepared perfectly. You can't do this at home folks. The menu offers a variety of other choice cuts of meat and seafood and the sides are a cut above the rest. Everything is fresh, well prepared, and quick from the kitchen. We have not been through the entire wine and cocktail list, but the one's that we have had are top notch. Let's talk service. All of the servers are professional, friendly, personable, polite, and attentive. . They are there when you need them yet unobtrusive. Plates appear and disappear like magic and all the interaction with your servers are friendly and personable. There is pride in the front of the house and they give you the feeling that they get real satisfaction ensuring that you are getting the best experience possible. The restaurant is still in its first year. There are several dining areas including a bar and a back deck with awesome views of North Georgia. The materials are of good quality and very open and comfortable. There lots of wood and it has a den-like barn-like feel to it that is perfect for casual fine dining. There's a good vibe coming from the bar area and both times we've been there the place has been hopping. And then, there is that something extra. This is a family owned and operated business. Their passion for good food and good service permeates the place. They are going to get it right for you. Top quality, first class, every time, without fail. If you can't tell already, I highly recommend this place. Most other fine dining restaurants, you get the bill and you say to yourself, " Wow, was it worth it?" Not at J. Michael's.
