What an amazing find...and a true gem! We tripped over this place by shear accident...but will always come here to eat when visiting. The tacos are award winning (really...he has the trophies as proof!)...spice rubbed chicken, gator, shrimp...even a mac-n-cheese! They serve breakfast as well as lunch and have kid-friendly choices. The J-Mike's candied French toast is the best French toast I've had in my life. We want to live close to this place but are only driving through. The Chef/owner/operator is so talent in the flavor arena...this place is only a month old but will be a staple on my list of places to go. The waitress was one cool chick as well. We got the French toast platter and pulled pork tacos....can't rave about the food enough. The French toast flavor was unlike any I've ever had. And the eggs?!? Cooked to perfection. The tacos were huge & full of flavor. The service and atmosphere were great all the way around. Our favorite part was listening to who we believe is the owner, sing while cooking! A hidden gem in Myrtle Beach. Tucked into the back of the Holiday Sands Hotel, J-Mike's is a great quick stop for lunch. Stellar customer service. Wish I could say the same about the food. I got the steak tacos and fries. My steak was very chewy, and I wasn't a fan of the marinade or the cheese that was used. The fries were over salted and also had an interesting flavor... interesting not meaning tasty. The highlight of my meal was my smoothie. I paid $50 for two tacos, fries, and a smoothie. I already wrote a review, but it seems to have disappeared. Happens a lot (Yelp, are you listening). The reviews were good but we are always suspicious in touristy areas where there are great reviews and then you go find out its ordinary food and high prices and bad service. Well, this ain't that place. First off, yea the food was great and the tacos were award-winning (because they are award-winning). The service was what would we come back for as much as the food. We met the owner who seems like a great guy and into the food, it's not just a business. And our waitress, was sarcastic, brassy, loud, abrasive and totally fun! She took no greif and let you know what was what. We were with a group of 10 adults and 4 kids and she did not get a thing wrong, our food came out fast and she kept us all engaged and laughing. Oh and the food was interesting, original and really good. Next time we are in the area J-Mike's will be on the list of places to stop. The restaurant itself is no big deal, a simple coffee shop vibe, but its right on the beach and you can park really close to J-Mike's and the water. read more

Doesn't look like much on the outside but the staff and atmosphere make up for it! Staff are great and fast working. The breakfast and brunch menus offer a good variety. Music going and a chef that whistles when the food is ready! Food is tasty and beach view adds to the great start to the morning. We decided we would give it a try, the food was good. a little pricey but that was okay. Our server was decent. We got our bill and it was $20 of extra fees, the state sales tax is 6% we were charged 11.5% and an automatic charge of 18% for gratuity for 2 people. The singing cook was so up lifting and made for a wonderful atmosphere. The wait staff was super pleasant & helpful. Asked for sour cream, watched the waiter check it, then not serve it to me (perhaps outdated)! Thank you for not!! Food was fresh, absolutely delicious and the sausage was home made. I really loved this place! I'm in town for work and came in early after the gym. The restaurant is located in the bottom floor of a hotel directly on the beach. I was the only one in there when I came in which that + being in a hotel would usually make me feel a certain way. But because of previous reviews I was totally willing to give it a try and I'm happy I did! The woman who took my order was super friendly, helpful and funny. The place is clean and they have a huge variety of hot sauces set up for customer use which I totally appreciate! I ordered the eggs Benedict and was not disappointed!! It came with hash browns which were crispy and delicious! PLUS a small very flavorful side salad which I absolutely appreciated because it added a nice freshness to a dish that's normally on the heavier side. Now the star of the dish was the eggs benny - PERFECTLY poached eggs with think cut ham and a fresh flavorful hollandaise. I was definitely pleased. Plus the best part I was able to listen to the chef sing in the kitchen it's very clear he loves what he does and I'm not mad about it! Haha I took my order to go and sat on the beach and ate. Too many businesses in this area try to have a menu as long as the Cheesecake Factory and they do none of those items well. J. Mike's has a simple menu & everything on it is done right. It comes out looking consistent with the delicious photos. Staff is chill but helpful. Food came out fast. They have a great selection of hot sauces. I recommend "doubling down" (adding a layer of beans/cheese) to your taco if you're extra hungry, but the portion size is honestly perfect. Myrtle is a struggle right now with lack of workers so be kind and patient especially if you're a larger group seated to be served. Coffee is hot and well brewed.
