Salted Caramel Cookies and Cream Ice Cream

Fantastic ice cream in a variety of flavors -- the salted caramel cookies and cream was fantastic, as was the watermelon sorbet soft serve I sampled. The inside is small, with only a small window-side countertop area to eat at.

A good staple ice cream shop in Newton. Loved my first try of the vegan Madagascar vanilla.

Pros: -Huge portions. I ordered a kiddie and am pretty sure I received a half pint. -Fun monthly flavors (Pandan and Ube this month) Cons: -Haven't found a flavor I've really liked yet... -- Salted Caramel Cookies 'n' Cream (Kiddie for $4.47) Marketed as salted caramel ice cream with crushed cookies, but it was more like salty cookies & cream ice cream. I was hoping there would be a caramel swirl but alas there was not.

JP Licks is an overall decent ice cream spot with tons of locations in the Boston area! The ice cream isn't super rich in my opinion, and that does hit the spot sometimes. Since they're just about everywhere you can stop by easily. I got their pumpkin custard and enjoyed it although I do wish there would've been some sorta crunch in it!

JP Licks is a classic ice cream Boston staple. This was my first time trying so I had some high expectations. I got a strawberry in their 'kiddy' size which is the smallest size available. It was $4.55 after Tax which I felt was a bit expensive given the size of the ice Cream. The strawberry was creamy and had a light strawberry flavor. I will come back and try some of their other items. I also like how they have lots of available outdoor seating

Can't beat the extensive hours, but the ice cream itself is decent for the premium they charge! We were pleasantly surprised when we called on a Wednesday night asking how late they would be open, midnight during the summer! (After our dismay that Cabots Ice Cream was closed for vacation for the entire week...) They have some unique flavors and the typical toppings but nothing special that keeps me up all night salivating. The location in Newton Center is also very recognizable with their cow print sign. When we have a hankering for something sweet and in the area we will stop by but otherwise there are plenty of other options. Also this is more of a grab and go type place. There's only about 5 stool seating options available and the outdoor bench seating for warmer months. Sad that Sweet Tart FroYo place is now gone so this is basically the only option. I guess they just have a prime location right smack in the middle of Newton Centre.

We came late one night at around 11pm, and the ice cream shop was pretty busy. JP Licks closes at midnight, and I can see it being a great spot for some late-night ice cream. According to Boston residents, JP Licks is a classic, Boston ice cream shop, so I was super excited to try it. I decided on mint cookies n' cream-- the flavors were great and the consistency of the ice cream was rich, creamy, and smooth. They also have some monthly specials and interesting flavors, like coffee cookies n cream and fruity pebbles. I'd recommend a try if you're in the area and craving ice cream.

Don't know if it's just this location.. but the ice creams my friend and I got were all semi-melted when we got them. Is it because the place itself tried to be warm for winter? Anyways, melted ice cream isn't great. On another note, I saw eggnog latte as a seasonal specialty. Going to try that next!

Amazing, fresh ice cream, and the customer service is great. It is a bit on the pricier side, but in my opinion, definitely worth it!

Raised prices again and have started hiding the kiddie cups so you'll only see them if you really scour the menu or ask :/

The menu says fresh, healthy, etc. etc. the only thing fresh about that bagel was the avocado and maybe the egg. Pretty sure it was Oscar Meyer "bacon" or some other form of microwavable bacon (which isn't really bacon ). Which is totally unacceptable in this day and age. And the sweet sauce they put on it was horrendous. My stomach hurt the entire day. If you're not going to use quality bagels and quality bacon, you should not be charging almost $13 a sandwich. your menu should also list the ingredients line by line. I asked the cashier what was on this and he did not mention a disgusting sweet sauce. It's no wonder there's a line out the door for the café down the street and two people inside this café. Although I did not get anything else, but that sandwich, I will not be returning based on that alone. You should be ashamed for even serving that.

It paired so well with the rose matcha latte which I've ordered twice now. The pastries and cakes look so tempting too in the display panels. I don't typically drink coffee but if I ever get there early enough I'll try the Crème Brûlée, Vienna Pistachio, or their signature latte. As a tea lover they also have some additional retail items for you to browse for tea steeping and gift sets. The only downside and maybe that's what makes it not as crazy busy on weekends as Tatte is that I want even more options. You can also order whole cakes too if one slice isn't enough. When it gets warmer I will try some of their smoothies and chilled drinks over ice!
