At this point I haven't had frozen yogurt in a long time ever since the frozen yogurt craze in the 2010s. There seems to be a shortage of frozen yogurt shops now, especially shops where you can still scoop your own toppings and pay by weight. The interior is beach-themed, I'd even say 2010s style. They have some tables inside, which are shaped like surfboards. Even a little snack bar to purchase to go with your froyos. I didn't catch the price per weight, but my cup came out to be around $7-8 after tax which seems to be about the standard nowadays for frozen yogurt and ice cream. They have a bunch of different flavors of frozen yogurt as well as both a fresh/fruit bar as well as a dry topping bar and fudge. Free wifi too! As for parking, they have some street parking as well as a few streets around the area that non-residents can park at if the spots right outside are filled. They also offer stamp cards that they stamp when u make a purchase. All in all, a cute froyo shop that is pretty yummy, with a great variety (bonus for mochi!) of toppings that will now be my new go-to froyo spot! read more

Let me start out by saying FroYo places are so hard to come by nowadays, so we were so happy to find this place open on a cold February evening nonetheless. There were a lot of flavors out of stock (which didn't bother me because they had my go to) and the topping selection could have a bit wider of an array but it was February so I'm assuming business is not at a peak :) We got lids for our froyo and transported this about 20 minutes home and it held up just fine. Huge variety of toppings and a lot less expensive compared to other froyo places. Their chocolate/vanilla swirl seems to be frozen custard instead of frozen yogurt. Very decadent, creamy, and delicious though! Great variety of yogurt flavors and toppings.The yogurt is really good! A bit pricey for yogurt, but it's a treat. We went in tonight, and the employee working at the register was not attentive at all. The place was super busy, and she was not paying attention to anything else but her phone. She was on her phone texting or typing, while checking us out and barely looked up from her phone. Not appropriate. There are usually such welcoming, nice employees in the shop. My friend and I went to yogurt beach and paid 15 dollars even though it was 17 dollars and 5 cents and he wouldn't knock off 2 dollars and 5 cents. Sorry Kay B. but I have to correct your review from yesterday. The cold bar toppings (you refer to it as the wet topping bar) are not available and have not been since March - even before the Governor's mandate. There are signs on the station saying it is closed and the bowls are empty and covered. What bothers me the most about your post is that you state it was your go-to family favorite and yet instead of walking in the door and speaking to the owner (who is there every day) you chose to go online and complain. We are living in the most unprecedented of times. Small, family owned businesses are struggling to stay afloat and I believe we are all tasked with helping them to do so. If there is a concern why not say something to get it fixed? I have been a customer of Yogurt Beach since they opened (5? 6 years now?) and have found the owner to be more than receptive to comments, complaints, suggestions and compliments. Over the years I have brought things to his attention and he was never anything but courteous, receptive and appreciative. We all have very different comfort levels these days but if one is truly concerned about the safety of a place then why would you not bring it to the attention of the owner? I can't imagine any small business owner not wanting their customers to feel safe. Finally - I am thankfully Yogurt Beach stayed open all these months! When I was a kid and I moved into west newton, I remember visiting this yogurt shop, and it was next to my old elementary school until it moved, (also my the boys and girls club!) and soon when I went to my next grade, I was near it too, and I remember going there everyday after school with any lose change I had to grab my fav ice cream, vanilla with nuttla, whipped cream, cinnimon toast crunch, and grab a hershey bar to put on top after! I really kinda dig the energy at this place ... they found a random-as street corner, installed fro-yo machines, and just straight-up went with kitschy faux-tiki surf décor, like YESS GET ITT. You gotta love confidence. I was initially distressed when the old cave that was Petrillos closed down and was replaced by Manny's, which was both more sensible and uselessly uninteresting at the same time. Unless another old-school Italian-American deli counter is ever back in the cards, I'm now much happier to see Yogurt Beach living its best life at this rather lonely storefront. Flavor selection works great for me and toppings are interesting and plentiful. The owner and staff are always very friendly, and my kids and I have so many good after-school and weekend memories! COVID health violations here, beware. This was always a go-to family favorite, but this summer I saw that they were operating as normal, everything was still self-serve! So we opted to go to elsewhere with better safety procedures in place. Today I stopped by and saw a note on the door saying that they could no longer offer self-serve and that they'd prepare your cups for you. I thought that was pretty petty, but when I looked in the wet topping bar was still self-serve. Which is STILL a violation. I don't understand why this business keeps ignoring the safety procedures implemented by the state. I'm sad because I was a fan, but I don't trust them anymore and I don't think anyone should. They should be following health guidelines because it's the right thing to do, not because they got busted by the health department. There are plenty of other places to get frozen desserts in Newton that take these precautions seriously. read more

Another pay by weight froyo place in Boston area. The froyo texture is average; not as good as Berryline, Pinkberry, but on par with Froyoworld/Orange Flavor. Small little froyo place in Newton. There's no parking lot because ample and easy free parking all along the street. There's a steady rotation of maybe 10 flavors, including plain, more dessert-types (chocolates, vanillas), sorbets, etc. They have a bunch of different sauces (caramel, marshmallow, ice cream shell, butterscotch, hot fudge, peanut butter), whipped cream. They also always have fruit toppings, some other toppings, and MOCHI! This is one of the few froyo places I've been to that has always had mochi. They also have a small candy wall. Either add them as toppings or take a bag to go. If you're a family with kids who play rec sports, they get some percentage off if they wear their uniform (there's a sign outside of the restaurant, I can't remember details). "What an awkward spot for a froyo shop?", was my initial response when seeing this spot in an older building along a residential stretch of busy Watertown Street (Route 16) in West Newton. Even though, it is an odd location, and the parking does suck... there is absolutely NO where to legally park, due to all the NO PARKING signs that the City of Newton has put up at this intersection of Watertown St & Edinboro St, this place has the best fro yo around. It's some of the most flavorful and delectable frozen yogurt and with all of the great flavors they have, you absolutely cannot go wrong. The motif inside is also lovely.... I definitely enjoy the warmer weather and this "beach" theme is a tease in February and March (when I visited this place). The owner is very friendly, kind and helpful. He enjoys getting to know his customers, which I find as a kind gesture. The cleanliness and set up of the shop work very well and complete. Everything is immaculate, and even though you'd think this place isn't ever busy, all the locals stop in, and it's very, very close to multiple schools as well. While I do like the other Yogurt Beach for actually having parking, this one has much better flavors and associates. I will definitely be making the trip back up to this area to stop here.... love Yogurt Beach! read more

My boyfriend and I go here a lot as we live in the neighborhood. The frozen yogurt is great and a wide variety of toppings are offered. However, depending on when you go (school vacations) the place is a disaster with unattended preteens running around and being disruptive in and outside the shop. It also seems that there is at least 1 machine always out of order. Yogurt Beach is usually quiet, spotless, and the topping canisters are full but on the days the kids get to it, I question the cleanliness and sanitation of the self-serve counter. I really think this is just a practice of the employees needing to stay on top of these procedures when more people are in the shop. read more

Place is terrible, my brother said he would by me some yogurt, and they have a system where if you buy ten yogurts you get one free, my brother got me a yogurt and they said they would not stamp my card, and here's the thing, if he had handed my the money this would be a whole different story.
