The folks here are so helpful and friendly! Easy to locate and plenty of parking Fun to watch the ice cream rolling and they are meticulous and creative with the food presentation. Surely enough for 2 to share.

Unfortunately I really did not care for this place despite the great reviews. The food was just... not good and felt low quality. I got the white sushi rice, which had hard dried rice chunks (unpleasant to have to chomp thru) and the protein was about what you would expect from a poke shop in Waco, Texas. Spicy yet also somehow the fish itself was flavorless and had a texture that disintegrated in your mouth. I got a build your own poke bowl, which comes with 2 proteins. However, what is not advertised is that protein is $1 extra. This is confusing to me because the menu board does advertise that avocado is extra, but does not mention that protein is extra. feels deceptive to me but idk. I thought the ordering setup was odd. At other poke restaurants, I have experienced a "build your own poke bowl" line similar to what you would see at a sandwich or salad bar where they send you down the line. At this place, they send you to a seat and call you back up to pick out toppings? This added unnecessary waiting time and a bunch of people hogging tables while waiting to be called. Which brings me to my next point. This place doesn't have enough tables. During the lunch hour rush, I even saw two guys eating their lunch on top of the trash can since there were no tables available. Lastly, this place can't figure out what it wants to be. They sell poke (Hawaiian), but also advertise they sell Thai ice cream, and Japanese crepes. To be fair I did not get the crepe or icecream, but they seem a bit confused on what they want to focus on.

That is the Hawaiian rice instead of having tuna I add chicken to it it was absolutely amazing!!

Should you ever find yourself in Waco, I've gotta recommend J-Petal & Poke for a fishless poke bowl that's an absolute riot of color and texture. Loads of veggies options make this a solid pick that won't leave you hungry. Though the plant-based proteins (plain tofu and edamame) aren't anything to write home about, it's an oasis in the dessert of vegan options nearby. The ingredients are fresh, portions are generous, and prices are fair.

Good portion of food, and it was delicious. The staff and owner were very friendly. I recommend the salmon and shrimp bowl with a refreshing pineapple colada.

I'm extremely picky about my Poke....this place passed my test. Poke was fresh and plentiful. My daughter got an ice cream crepe after. It was amazing, I kept stealing it from her. Honestly it was plenty big to share anyway.

Food was fresh and delicious. We got poke bowls and Hawian Sunrise crepe. Service was exceptional. Everyone was really polite and nice. Country music created a nice atmosphere You have to respect and family owned business where the owner is customer facing, making the bowls, and willing to take out the trash. Talk about leading by example.

This is one of the best dessert places I've ever been! It has a new age feel, and right off the river. It's in a great spot. They had Thai ice cream rolls, and so many kinds of crepes! They were so big you could barely eat it all! The service was fast, and the building was well kept. Lots of fun Baylor decor for their women's teams, which I thought was an awesome thing to add. If you find yourself in Waco, definitely stop here.

We just got to town and I was so hungry. I hadn't had much luck finding gluten free food on the way. My GF app brought me to this place and I AM SO GLAD! I ordered the gluten free savory steak crepe and the fruit dessert crepe. The steak crepe was packed with fresh veggies and sweet and spicy steak. The dessert crepe was full of strawberries, bananas, raspberries and blueberries. Kapow!!! Tastebud explosion. I shared both with my husband. That was a lot of crepe!

The ambiance was welcoming and clean, the service was very nice and friendly but not very quick. The food was good and tested fresh with great appearance. I felt like the food was a little light for the price and my wife said her teriyaki chicken was lacking flavor. It's a good spot to make a healthier option if you wanted but wouldn't be in our regular rotation of places. read more

Service: Counter order- excellent and friendly service. Food: The food was made to order so it took about 10 mins after ordering to receive our food. I enjoyed the Salmon lover poke bowl! This restaurant was very generous and gave us plenty of fish in our bowls, unlike a lot of other places where they skimp out on the protein. In addition to poke bowls, they had salad bowls, and other cooked protein if you are not feeling like poke that they. The restaurant also had a large selection of rolled ice cream! Highly would recommend! Order poke from them through door dash all the time and the bowls always come with fresh ingredients. There was never a time when I was disappointed with the bowl I received. Go here for your sushi craving.. don't go anywhere else. read more

J-Petal & Poke has completely ruined other sushi restaurants for me, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Their sushi bowls are on an entirely different level. The quality and flavor are noticeably superior to anything I've had elsewhere, consistently fresh, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with care rather than shortcuts. One of the reasons we keep coming back is that everyone wins here. I'm hooked on the sushi bowls, and my wife loves that they also offer grilled chicken options with vegetables that are always crisp, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. It's rare to find a place that nails both quality seafood and non-sushi options this well. The customer service deserves special recognition. The team is genuinely warm, welcoming, and attentive without ever feeling forced. We go regularly, and it's become one of those places where you actually enjoy seeing the staff you've gotten to know. That kind of consistency and friendliness says a lot about how the restaurant is run. J-Petal & Poke isn't just a place we eat, it's a place we look forward to visiting. Exceptional food, fresh ingredients, and outstanding people make this one of our favorite spots, hands down. read more

This is one of our favorite spots. Love that the owners are a family working together behind the counter. They remember our names and are always kind, welcoming, and patient as we ponder the fun and creative menu, even though we often get the same things. Our favorite thing to order here is the Salmon Lovers Poke Bowl-- it is chock full of fresh, beautiful, and delicious ingredients, and we love that you can customize it anyway you want. We also love the Crab Crepe-- it is generously stuffed with crab and has a good balance of sweet from fresh corn and spice! Man! I need one of these in my neighborhood. The crepes (both sweet and savory) and ice cream are great. We didn't try the poke but I have to imagine it'd be good too. They can get a little behind when it's busy but try and be patient. The end results are delicious. Ok y'all, I needed a break from conference food (cookies and crap) and stumbled on this place. I made a custom request twice for lots of veggies and cooked protein. Both were light, fresh and filling, not to mention pretty to look at. Staff was awesome and even recalled my name a few days later. In the 105* heat, this place nailed it. read more

If you are craving poke in the Waco area, this is the place to go! I ordered 2 diy poke bowls and the j savory crepe. I ate the crepe first and saved the two bowls for later. One of the bowls i came back for 2 hours later since my sister was taking an exam. The employees were very understanding and let me come back to get it! The poke bowl ordering system is very different here since they have other products that they are selling. You order your meats first then wait until they call you to pick your toppings. The seafood tasted so fresh! I was so shocked since this is located in Waco. The crepe was absolutely AMAZINGGG. I was shocked on how all the flavors went well together. There was a party in my mouth. If you're indecisive like me and want something from the land and sea, this is the dish for you. Their crepe holder is soooo cute too! The employees were so happy to work here. They all greeted me when I entered the door and said their goodbyes as I left. They looked happy with their job! That's very rare for an entire staff to be energetic and genuine. Haha! While I was writing this, the owner came up and asked how the food was. He gave me the little run down about how they found poke and they're a locally owned family! He was very happy and passionate about it. Love the vibe of this place and #supportlocal Random note! He did say that they're expanding to other cities in the state. I'm super excited to see them come to Austin one day. I'll definitely come back when I'm in Waco or whatever place they expand to in Texas. read more

Delicious, healthy poke bowl. Tasted like good quality ingredients and lots of topping options. I ended up doing a build you own option which they then call you up when it's your turn to customize your bowl. They also have pre set bowls to choose from. I also tried the mango green tea with had the boba at the bottom which was a fun surprise. There was a bit of a wait after ordering however they let us know prior to placing our order. I would consider ordering online ahead of time and then going to pick up if you're in a rush. read more

Traveled from Houston to DFW. Waco is a great half way stop for lunch and a break. This poke place is clean & the space is open. I went twice and both times busy. Food is delicious. I have a strict diet and this place allows for freedom to pick and choose. I did not leave hungry or feel cheated because my options were not limited. The BYO poke bowl has a ton of whole food options. Cooked seafood protein is on the menu. Everything tasted fresh and clean. I was able to keep my food simple with brown rice, seafood protein, almost all of the fresh produce, and olive oil. I added the seaweed the 2nd time and it sure made my bowl more exciting. Every bite was absolutely fresh tasting both times. read more

Based on the appearance of the dipping cabinet buckets, I could see a lot of air pockets so I knew it wasn't going to be dense and packed. Overall, maybe I'll try it again if they have Cookie Crumble or Dark Chocolate in stock again.

I seriously LOVE J-Petal! My husband and I go at least once a week, and we are always impressed with both the sweet and savory options. I usually get the chicken teriyaki crepe while my husband prefers the poke bowls. I love the #8 sweet crepe (add nutella!) and the matcha rolled ice cream (which has a pretty strong matcha flavor - no vanilla there!). We also love the selection of board games to play with. Overall, great environment, great food and everyone is always incredibly helpful when we want to try something new. Try it & you'll be hooked! read more

This place is simply fantastic! If you are looking for a good quality poke bowl I would highly recommend coming here. While they do serve other items, I like their poke bowls and their variety selection if you choose to build your own. The restaurant is family owned and operated and you can clearly tell as they are very welcoming. They are also very attentive to their customers and cleanliness ensuring you are satisfied. Super friendly staff! Owner has a great presence in the store. He is extremely friendly, and his staff follow his lead. The employee who made my meal was on his first day, but he still did an awesome job and was polite as you could ask for. The meal was great, if I was local I'd be here as often as I could. I've never had a sushi burrito before, but I'm a convert now. Overall great experience, definitely would recommend to anybody that enjoys poké/sushi or crêpes! read more
