:) Great little shop I come here often for miscellaneous goods, nice drink section, and their meat.

Don't go here they sell rotten meat. The chicken is bad. The health department should shut this place down.

*Check the expiration dates!…read more Store is big and has a great selection of fresh produce. Carries many staples that can't easily be sourced locally. One of the security guards is incredibly ignorant but just ignore him and do your thing. Rent a cop acted like he was "allowing" me to shop with my service animal. Pedro has been with me for the last 11 years and goes where I go. Helps when I need help. I just ignored him as the oranges deserve more attention. I thought about educating him regarding both federal and California law pertaining to service animals but I'm sure his high school teachers tried to reach him as well to no avail. I think the produce here is the best in HP and while I don't need anything in bulk this is still my go-to for staples. Rude security guard or not. Also, half off rotisserie chicken at night!

My experience with Connie, the cashier at this Smart & Final, has been consistently unpleasant, but…read moremy most recent visit was particularly frustrating. When I saw that Connie would be my cashier, I immediately wished I had chosen another line because my previous interactions with her had also been uncomfortable. During this visit, there was no greeting or basic acknowledgment. She did ask whether I wanted bags. I initially said no because I only had a few items, but I later realized I needed bags after all and politely asked if I could have some. Her response was extremely unpleasant. She sighed heavily, rolled her eyes, and shook her head in a way that made me feel as though I had asked for something unreasonable. I understand that working in customer service can be tiring, and I am not expecting an employee to be excessively cheerful or fake. But a customer asking for shopping bags, something the store provides and charges for, is hardly an unreasonable request. The interaction became even more frustrating when, after scanning my groceries, she asked whether I wanted to make a donation. I said no, but explained that I did want to scan the Smart & Final app. Once again, she responded with an eye roll, heavy sigh, and head shake. I genuinely don't understand why using the store's own app and available coupons would warrant that kind of reaction. What makes this particularly disappointing is that this was not an isolated interaction. I have repeatedly experienced what I perceive as a consistently negative and dismissive demeanor from Connie. Customers shouldn't feel like they're inconveniencing an employee simply by completing an ordinary transaction, requesting bags, or using the store's app. I am not asking employees to smile constantly or pretend to be enthusiastic. I am asking for basic professionalism and courtesy. Eye-rolling, exaggerated sighing, and visibly displaying frustration toward a customer over routine requests create an uncomfortable shopping experience. Smart & Final should seriously consider providing additional customer-service coaching and addressing how these interactions are being handled. At this point, Connie's customer-service demeanor has actually made me consider driving farther to shop elsewhere simply to avoid another unpleasant checkout experience. This review is based on my personal experiences and observations as a customer. I hope management takes the feedback seriously because the checkout experience is part of the overall customer experience, and repeated interactions like these can absolutely influence whether a customer wants to return.
