Could not be more disappointed. We sat down right away because the place was not busy and the server was nice and got us drinks pretty fast. We ordered and waited, and waited, and waited. We did ask if there was a problem and were told no. The manager/owner? Did not seem to be watching the customers or he would have seen how unhappy we were. The tv had his foucus. The bathroom needed a good cleaning. Finally, our food came and it was just 'fine' but not worth the crazy wait. Tried it, will not go back. Too bad. read more

4 stars actually for the food...its good!. But what is great is the service...very sweet people ..That makes dining extra better (can i say that?) The location and view is out of this world (10 stars)...surrounded by mountains and by a river just feet away!! Sometimes a location makes everything taste better...So go! give em a try! Hell, I've had bad coffee in the Florida Keys and magically it tastes better, ya understand. So order good food from sweet people in a beautiful location. This is our go to place for the best in food, service, and atmosphere in the area. The deck, which overlooks the Esopus creek, is our favorite spot. The rib,chicken and sausage platter is the best around. The smoked London broil is outstanding and the portions are a guarantee that you will leave with a doggie bag. Great, great, great. Great place to stop for a meal on our drive up to the Catskills. Atmosphere, food and service was great.

The place is kind of gross. There was dog hair on my food, the back door was open and i seen a mouse run into the kitchen. I'd avoid it.

I would've given them several stars just for the gigantic black dog that lives on the premises, but the food was amazing to boot. Beautiful location right on the Esopus. Outdoor seating, fire pit, dog-friendly. We had the to-die-for steak tacos, which we still fondly recall, as well as wings & the kids had chicken tenders. Can't wait return when we are in the area. Stopped at JRoccos on the way to Bellarye with my buddy and we were hungry and just wanted a burger. Met Michelle the manager who was warm and friendly and recommended the prime rib, delicious!!! In the many times we have been there, we are always warmly welcomed, the atmosphere is cozy, the view is fabulous, the food is WONDERFUL, with very large, generous DELICIOUS portions, very reasonable prices, the waitstaff is ALWAYS friendly and very accommodating. Been to Rocco's on 3 different occasions now. Each time has been at a different time when they were really busy, not so busy and then, not busy at all. Each time we have waited wayyy too long for the food we were getting. The food is ok and the portions are generous. I was pleasantly surprised at the decent quality of the food, the kindness of the owner (super-friendly!), the awesome prices for the portion size, and the atmosphere. It looks like they got bad reviews before, but I didn't witness any of that. Service was prompt, key lime was made from real key limes. We stumbled on to this great restaurant while on vacation. The specials are amazing. We had the Wild Mushroom Ravioli which was out of this world. Returned mid week for wing night. We had the hybrid wings. They were the best wings we have ever had in a restaurant. The owners are so friendly. Can't wait to return to this area and visit this place again. This is my favorite place in the area. I drive up late every Fri night & am welcomed with open arms by the staff. Steak/Ribs/Fish/Chicken/Pasta/Burger dishes all excellent. The raw oysters & steamed clams are delicious but not always available. Try to go when they are having cooked "scallops on the half shell." I have never seen scallops served in their own shells & drawn butter for dipping mmm! Michele makes the best margarita's as well, & there is a nice choice of draft beers & cigars. read more

Went on Memorial Day. Loved the rustic feel and the view of the Esopus was great! Like the casual feel, can eat outside or inside. Didn't even open the menu, just went right to the blackboard for the specials. Ordered the soft shell crabs, sautéed. They were the best I've ever had! Rocco's is located in one of the most beautiful settings...on a river surrounded by mountains...amazing! I have been there a few times and always had a great, well priced meal. It is cozy and fun and the staff is friendly. It has some charaacter and is not homoginized and boring like so may other places and their food is fresh, not fozen...real veggies, hand cut steaks etc..hard to find these days unless you spend a lot! We always have leftovers to take with us afterward which makes it even a better value. We really LOVE the view and the wood burning stove...it makes it a destination, not just a place to fill your belly. read more

We decided to spend our Christmas vacation in the Catskills and found J Roccos. We have been here twice for dinner during our stay. The first time was on Christmas Eve. We had a wonderful dinner. As we left we saw Eric cooking ribs on the smoker next to the river and decided we needed to go back. We went back tonight and had the best dinner (again!). You can tell Eric takes pride in his food. He is very personable and it shows in the food and service. Best Meatloaf and Prime Rib. Prime Rib was made on their smoker outside. All was cooked to perfection. The entire staff is terrific. The place is a must go if you are in there area. The prices are reasonable and the food is A+. We look forward to coming back on our next visit. read more

Horrible, dirty. A beautiful big dog lays on the side porch off the kitchen with the door open so he can go in and out. My steak was fatty, broccoli was never cooked. Brisket was all fat so sad that the food is so bad! read more

The steaks are amazing and almost cheap. I don't think I can emphasize enough what a rarity this is. They are cooked perfectly and they start with perfect steaks. My friend gets the buffalo wings and he seems to be addicted. I have to admit I only have steak here because it is so good. One day I will have a hamburger. read more

The service was good. Sat out on the deck overlooking the creek which was beautiful. I had the Prime Rib Sandwich with sauteed onions and cheese on garlic toast. The hubby had a burger with an egg on top. The burger was really good (the eggs slightly overdone for his taste). The Prime Rib Sammie was great. The fries fell short (they were slightly cooked and soggy) since I asked for them to be well done. Didn't want to wrap up a lovely evening so we ordered coffee and dessert. There were only 2 dessert options. I had the flourless chocolate cake -- it was ok, nothing spectacular. Unfortunately when my hubby was finishing his coffee, he realized the bottom of the cup was dirty -- yuck. The waitress deducted the cost of my dessert to compensate for it. This place is a steakhouse but steaks aren't on the menu - they are on the blackboard inside the restaurant which makes it hard when you are seated outside.
