I've been coming here for over 10 years, and it's the ultimate Korean hidden gem. The restaurant is always super clean, and the staff is incredibly kind and attentive. They just dropped a new Pork Rib Soup, and it's amazing. They use spinach in it for a healthier twist, and it works so well! I tried the pork rib soup this time, but my absolute all time favorite is their Dolsot Bibimbop. It comes out sizzling hot, and the gochujang has a unique, refreshing yuzu flavor that is so good. Also, my boys absolutely love their Galbi, and their Soft Tofu Soup is another one of my comfort foods. Every single side dish and main flavor is always so fresh and high quality. I was craving some Korean food on my little Tuesday venture through Walnut Creek and saw this place on the handy Google Maps. It's located just next to Brodrick. As I opened the strong door, the decor initially caught my eye walking in. It's modern with a hint of a biophillic design. I came in around 5PM so the sunlight didn't capture much of the beauty of the decor, but i'm sure coming in lunch time captures it more. Nara, the kind waitress, told me to sit anywhere I like. She's attentive, answered any questions I had, and informed be on certain dishes the whole time I stayed. I decided to get the Shrimp Mandoo as my appetizer and the mini Bulgogi with a Banana Milk. The Shrimp Mandoo was good, but nothing to really rave about. It's the only Mandoo that can only be pan-fried, but the crunch was fun! The banchan was varied. The kimchi is more on the sour/bitter side, so sorry to the sweet kimchi fans. As a solo diner I was particularly worried about the food proportions for the mini Bulgogi. I have a hearty appetite but even I have limits. The proportions were actually perfect and if you're a fan of lettuce, the Bulgogi comes with so much. I throughly enjoyed the savory Bulgogi! Friendly and helpful service. Clean and bright dining area. Jap Chae was a little on the mushy side, but everything including the Banchan was full of flavor and texture. I called to order kalbi and the manager told me I will need to pay extra for the miso soup even though it comes with the meal and hung up on me. Why would anyone pay the same price for less food. My wife and I genuinely love this restaurant and keep coming back because the food is consistently excellent. The only issue we've had is with the service around the "starter" wings. On our last two visits, we've ordered the wings as a starter, but our mains arrived before them. On our most recent visit, we even waited 15 minutes before ordering our mains, knowing the wings take a little longer. Despite that, my main arrived first, my wife's main followed 5 minutes later, and the wings came last. I completely understand that the wings take around 15 minutes to prepare, that isn't the problem. It's just confusing to have something listed as a starter if it consistently arrives after the main course. It felt like the kitchen was simply sending dishes out as soon as they were ready rather than pacing the meal. What disappointed us most was the response when we politely asked about it. Their prices are more reasonable than a lot of nearby places. The hot ginger tea with the little man-shaped stirring spoon? I'm dead. It's cute and tasty. Service can get a little slow during peak hours, which is why I'm giving it a 4/5 stars but the food is worth the wait. Many great experiences later, they did deliver a less than desirable experience on a recent take-out meal. I got an order of the crunchy squid rings and the dolsot bibimbap. The dolsot bibimbap was pretty good as usual, but the squid rings were a complete disaster. They actually packaged away completely burned and charred squid rings to go! What a dumb way to completely lose credibility with their customers. Cheap tactics such as these where the business is trying to save $15 (cost of the crunchy squid rings) at the expense of losing a customer is atrociously brain-dead. Why don't they understand something this fundamental given that they are in the hospitality business? On your take-out meals, my recommendation is to open the sealed package and inspect the food that you are bringing home. They could be packaging junk because the customer is not looking. Better yet, eat at the restaurant. I bet they would never serve garbage such as this in plain sight. read more

We ordered the black bean noodles and beef short rib soup. The banchan variety was great and complemented our soup especially! Kalbitang soup was savory and came in a big-sized bowl. However, the meat was honestly much tougher than I would've liked. My review would've been 4 stars if it weren't for the black bean noodles. On the menu, it read as "짜장면" if I'm not mistaken, so I was shocked when jjapaghetti came out instead. If I had known beforehand that it was going to be jjapaghetti, an instant noodle, I would not have ordered for $16. Honestly, it was pretty misleading. In conclusion, be wary of ordering the jjajangmyeon here, as you will be getting jjapaghetti instead (know what you're ordering). Waitress was kind though! read more

We went here recently after work with co workers for some Comfort Korean food. I had arrived early and secured a table for 6 people. They were closing soon so we ordered our food once we had a little window to get our order in. I had ordered the Kim Chi pancakes and OB Pilsner beer. My co workers all ordered Ramen bowls and Wings. I had ordered the Sliced BBQ Beef mini plate and it came with white rice. All the food was good and portion wise was quite large. Servers were friendly and made sure we got everything we ordered before they closed the kitchen. I will definitely be back for more of their dishes, especially with the colder weather coming soon. On the 3rd visit, my son ordered extra chicken while I ordered the regular amount.. The two bowls came out with exactly the same amount of meat and the cook needed to see both our bowls to make sure we were telling the truth. On the 4th visit, I found a hair in my bowl. Still I kept going to this place despite my previous disappointments Tonight, we got there at 820p and, despite their hours posted to close at 930, they were rushing us to pay the check and head out by 920p. Pleasantly surprised by Mixed Grains! I had always walked by this restaurant and never knew nor imagined it was a Korean restaurant. I wrongly assumed it was a salad place, hahah. A group of 6 of us had dinner here a few days prior to Christmas. Although we we did not have a reservation, they were able to accommodate our group within a few minutes. I ordered "The works" with thinly sliced beef and purple rice. The serving sizes are generous! The purple rice is unlike any other rice I've tasted before, fluffy and soft but not soggy!
