If I could give J Sushi in Denton more than 5 stars, I would. We rolled in deep--with a whole crew of adults and kids (aka chaos on legs)--and they didn't just handle it, they owned it. The food? Phenomenal. Every roll was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully put together. Even my picky eaters left with new favorites, and that alone deserves a standing ovation. But the real showstopper? The service. Handling a large group with kids is usually a nightmare waiting to happen, but their staff turned it into a dream. Patient, kind, on top of everything--like it was second nature. They made us feel welcome, not like a burden, and that's rare. Honestly, the service wasn't just 10/10... it was "raise the scale, break the dial, and reset the bar" good. J Sushi is now officially in our rotation. If you're in Denton and you want an experience that's as memorable as it is delicious, this is your spot.

Way too much money for the quality that you get in return. Please look at the pictures because you'll see clearly that there's salmon is not fresh. You can see the two different colors of the bright orange and the brown. Also if you're getting a sushi that has sauce on it make sure to get a separate container. It's gonna ruin the rest of your rolls..

J Sushi 12-28-24 First time here and it was great. It has a nice-sized dining room with tables and booths. We were seated right away, and they took our drink order and asked if we wanted to order appetizers. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had Stuffed Avocado with crabmeat, Deep Fried Stuffed Mushrooms with crabmeat and Deep Fried. Shrimp Tempura Lightly battered and deep fried. Creamy Shrimp - Shrimp and cream cheese deep-fried in wonton Stuffed Mushroom - Deep-fried mushroom stuffed with crabmeat, topped with scallion, tobiko, and special sauce. Stuffed Avocado - Deep-fried avocado stuffed with crabmeat, cream cheese, topped with scallion, tobiko, and special sauce. Bento Box - Ginger Salad, 1/2 California roll, gyoza, tempura shrimp, vegetables, miso soup, and Beef Teriyaki The food was prepared fresh and served to us hot. All the food was flavorful and good taste. We will be going back and trying other dishes. Definite must try.

The service was nice. She was very friendly and seated us right away. We got seated at a booth and it was wobbly and the cushions were very uneven. The server asked for our drink orders right away which was nice. We each ordered sashi bento, chicken teriyaki bento, don katsu bento, seafood fried rice and bulgogi entree. The bento boxes on the menu only showed under the lunch section but you can still order it for dinner with an up charge of $4. Food came within a good time but miso soup was served first. The miso was pretty salty which was still edible but that first sip gave me a shock. Don katsu bento: so each bento comes with soup, salad, fried tempura, California roll and fried gyoza. The style of fried tempura is different from what I am used to. It was thinly sliced carrot onion and zucchini with one shrimp tempura. It's a bit on the greasier side but still crunchy. The gyoza is just your typical fried gyoza that you could buy from the frozen section in your grocery store. Salad had a nice tangy dressing. The katsu was very disappointing as it was super thin and tasted like a chicken nugget. The California roll was okay but nothing to rave about. Honestly the bento wasn't worth the price. Chicken teriyaki bento: the teriyaki is okay nothing special. Sashimi bento: the sashimi was okay. Seafood fried rice: it was pretty tasty I couldn't complain. Bulgogi entree: for the price more meat could've been added. I know it's thinly sliced beef but it seemed more like chopped meat very crumbly. Overall the service is great but the food lacked. It's not really worth the money.

Cozy and relaxing atmosphere for a Friday lunch before Christmas shopping. The waiter was attentive, food was served quickly and as always EXCELLENT quality. Will definitely return.

Dining in is a better experience IMO. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, serve time is pretty quick. Togo, food still good but display is not pretty. The sushi is decent size and always warm which I prefer. The appetizer, stuff jalapeños is pretty nice mixture of spicy. THEY ALSO HAVE FRIED ROLLS, which I LOVE

First time visiting place. A friend and I came here for dinner. Rico (I think that was his name) was our waiter and he was fantastic. The food we got was delicious and ambiance was good as well. We will definitely be back!

I love this sushi place! It's my go to spot & most of the time it's my craving spot. The spicy edamame is soooo delicious, I feel like they have gotten better over time with this as it now hits the spot. Their rolls are very appetizing. My fiancé always switches it up & so far they don't disappoint. Great customer service once we walk in as we get welcomed by the cooks. I usually go for lunch so I haven't seen the ambiance at night but during the day it's very mellow.

    Pretty lights inside j sushi

They fly in specialty fish every Thursday from Japan! This place is the real deal. Not all sushi restaurants are created equal and this one is top notch! Amazing fresh sushi served the right way. Large portions. Great friendly fast wait staff. Relaxing music and vibe. Fast drink refills. Easy to get in without a wait.

I wasn't sure there would be good sushi options in Denton but was pleasantly surprised with this find. At first, I was leery of the place because a few people came in with no mask (smh, Texans) and wasn't sure if people were going to be seated too closely. Well, let me confirm for those who are like me and want to avoid catching covid, that they spaced parties appropriately and I felt completely comfortable. I sat along the wall and they kept a table between each party. Since I was dining alone, I skipped an appetizer and went with my main meal along with sake. I opted for the unfiltered white peach sake. It was pretty good and not overally sweet. The Orange Blossom and Baja rolls were my selections for dinner. Both were very good! The baja was light and just felt fresh. I loved it. I love salmon so I knew I'd like the orange blossom. The service was also very good. Although, it was busy, I never wanted for anything. There was another server who checked in on me in addition to my own. There were a few other items on the menu that looked good so a return will happen. :)

Not bad at all. The place was very small and the beer selection was narrow, but the sushi was above average. I would go back.

Look, I'm a skeptical person. And so, I automatically think that a place with rave reviews spanning…read moreover a decade can't truly still be all that. Well, I'm here to tell you: it really is. It truly is all that. I read somewhere else that Keiichi truly shines with their appetizers, and I must concur. We ordered four apps, but our absolute favorites were: - Beef and Jalapeño Cream Cheese Roll: Please do not be deterred by the cream cheese. It was tastefully added and wasn't overwhelming at all. Also, that beef? DIVINE. -Marinated Tuna with Fresh Guacamole: An unlikely combination that constantly proves it deserves to be put together. Each bite was a flavor bomb in your mouth. We also got the Tasmanian Sea Trout and the Baby Yellowtail Carpaccio. They were very good, but nothing you can't have at another fancy sushi restaurant. We ordered three nigiris: * Squid * Scallop * Eel All very good, but again, nothing you can't have at another fancy sushi restaurant with quality fish. We didn't order classics like salmon and yellowtail because we'd already had them in our appetizers. The beef miso soup was also delectable. We didn't care as much for the beef by the end of the soup, so we'd probably just get the regular miso soup next time. For our entrée, we ordered the mushroom risotto to share. The risotto was definitely some of the best we've had in Dallas. Iirc, monarch has our favorite risotto. This was close to it. And I say this as someone who doesn't like mushrooms very much. Something we'd like to try next time: - Spicy Tuna Tartare Finally - dessert. We ordered a tiramisu and shared it with two strangers seated beside us. They ordered the green tea tiramisu and shared that with us. We enjoyed both variants. My wife and the other couple felt the traditional tiramisu lacked espresso, so that would be the one change they'd prefer. I found it good as is. So there you have it - that's the food. But that's only one part of the experience. The other part is snagging a reservation! I first tried securing a reservation back in October 2024 but was unsuccessful. I tried again in October 2025 and was finally able to snag a reservation for September 2026. So this dining experience was 2 years in the making! I can see why reservations sell out so quickly though. The chef can only accommodate 10 seats per seating and is only open a few days of the week. Furthermore, he has a dedicated fan following. Of which, my wife and I will proudly be a part of. Food and reservations are two parts of a three piece puzzle, though. For us, the third and final piece was the people we dined with. They were all incredibly kind, vocal, and passionate foodies. Everyone loved food and wanted to tell the others what they'd ordered and how much they enjoyed it. Because of that, a lot of us ended up ordering things the others recommended and were blown away each time. All that led to some interesting banter and very insightful and engaging conversations. I'm very happy we were able to get a reservation and were seated with such great people. I look forward to coming again, should we be lucky enough to secure a reservation in time.

All I have to say is rinse repeat. Consistency is the key to success. Is there any other place on…read morethis planet with better food or service?!?!
