Tried Sushi Damu for the all-you-can-eat and wasn't impressed. Before ordering, they go over a long list of rules--charges for leftovers or removing rice, limited to four items at a time, must finish everything before ordering again, and everyone at the table has to pay. I understand preventing waste, but it feels excessive. The biggest issue is the wait time. You can only order four items and then wait 30-40 minutes before ordering again, which makes the AYCE option feel pointless and overpriced. By the time food arrives and you're done eating, it's not worth continuing. The rolls were loose, lacked flavor and presentation, and overall didn't justify the price. So I want to preface this by saying wow it is badass that flower mound of all places has an AYCE sushi option! It is pricey but if you're hungry I'd recommend it. However, one of our waitresses (the other was fantastic) was super short with her words and not very friendly which was a downer. But I did enjoy the sushi options. I will say be careful with the fried rolls. One in particular filled me up so fast it was really big- larger than expected and the policy of you waste you pay reallly stressed me out and forced me to finish something that was hard to finish. I will say the salmon is good- the sushi isn't top tier fresh but if quantity is what you want this is a solid place. The wait for sushi can be lengthy because there maybe only one sushi chef/maker. It helps to order appetizers when you place an order for drinks. The venue is always clean. Love the mural on the wall. This venue is never too loud and can accommodate a larger party. Parties of 5 or more will have at least 18 percent tip added to the entire cost (including/after tax) so check your receipt on checkout. Originally I came to this place for a bowl of ramen and noticed their AYCE Sushi - not being a fan of AYCE sushi spots, I was hesitant, but glad I opted to try their sushi instead. Service was awesome, very friendly, and attentive. Ambiance was casual, clean, contemp and modern, yet welcoming. Note: please ask to be seated where there isn't a fan outlet, unless you're very hot blooded. I went with the premium selection and got to try a bunch of items, yet leaving many to try at a future visit. The rice to protein ratios were perfect, allowing you to try more items rather than being filled with huge rice portions with the nigiri. I also very much enjoyed their low carb options. Being pleasantly surprised with the quality and freshness of the sushi, I also ordered a hamachi kama to go as a snack later in the evening and that also did not disappoint. It was a very generous portion of collar and grilled to perfection. The yuzu soy dipping sauce was the absolute perfect accompaniment with the grilled collar with the right tartness to balance the rich oily flesh of the fish. An AYCE that you can pass on... Walking in, the place was clean and sleek but a bit small. There were 6 booths and a few 2-person booths. Tight quarters if we're going by COVID protocol. We waited maybe 10 minutes for someone to come and take our drink order and when she did come by, she left immediately. We wanted to try out the All You Can Eat menu but there were a lot of rules built in. Our waitress asked if we read the rules and told us to mark on the AYCE menu and walked away. She did not explain any further nor was very courteous to us. Regarding the rules- I could understand not wasting the rice/sushi but there was an entire page detailing what you can and can't do! You can order up to 4 items per person per round so we ordered 8 dishes in the first round which looked delicious. Although the fish was decent, they were heavy-handed on the sauce to the point where I could barely taste it. I could let it slide on the tuna tower and the rolls as I figured it wasn't Japanese owned since traditional sushi is not covered in sauces. Our first round went okay but when we tried to order our second round, the waiters were not to be found. Given, we were in the corner they may not have seen us and they were kinda busy, we waited quite a bit for someone to come take our AYCE order sheet. I would have let it go if they didn't give a time warning. They limit it to 2 hours but we didn't start eating until 6:30pm and they told us our time was almost up before it hit 8pm... Our second round was awful. All of our rolls were drenched in sauces. We even ordered the Jen Jen roll again since we liked it in the first round, but it was visibly darker with the amount of sauce in the crabmeat and covering the salmon. It was WAY too salty without the rice and it was intended for you to fill up on your water. If the customers are not allowed to make any modifications to the rolls for AYCE, then the restaurant should not be allowed to add 3 times the amount of sauce to make you stop eating. Note: they charge 75 cents to 1 dollar per piece of sushi/rice left uneaten. Now I hardly ever give poor reviews to up and coming places because I'd like to give them a chance, especially since this is in my hometown. But if you proudly advertise your restaurant as All You Can Eat, then you need to uphold that service and your own rules. Otherwise, don't bother saying you're an AYCE restaurant when you clearly are purposely trying to stop customers from eating too much by making the food too salty/saucy and almost inedible. I personally will not return to this place for the AYCE since I will need time to recover from the spike in blood pressure, but I may consider coming back just to order a couple rolls in the far future. What's more you could even smell food burning in the restaurant. Service was attentive, but didn't take time to insure what was on the plate was what was ordered. I am a huge sushi lover, me and my boyfriend recently moved to Texas and have been looking for the best sushi spots. This place is great, the fish on the nigiri tasted delicious and fresh and the spicy tuna roll was a good size (I would argue it could be a little spicier though but I just love spicy lol). Sushi is one of my passions in food. I have become accustomed to the "new" wave sushi around Texas which is pretty much predicated on rolls that are drowned in different sauces. There is certainly some thought to melding flavors and in some cases the art of sushi is at least attempted. The newest sushi place in Flower Mound/ Highland Village is Sushi Damu which presents itself as an all you can eat sushi place which in itself should already raise question marks. However, there is also an option to order a group of rolls at discount. Not sure if this is an opening marketing campaign or if it is permanent. It's new so of course everything is nice. Post-covid the space should be fine but right now it borders on a little too close. Nice big screen TVs and most of the people I've come across there are fairly nice. My review is really spread out over several visits with both friends, wife and kids so I feel it's a little more comprehensive than a normal single visit. In general the menu covers several bases including rice-less rolls, nigiri, hand rolls, fried rolls, and "interesting idea" rolls. We've ordered the 3 for $29, 5 for $45 roll deals especially when the kids are with us. Reason being because the way this place works is that every body at table has to have all you can eat or nobody can have it. My girls at 10 and 13 can not possibly eat $27-30 of food so this option of ordering rolls I think is a decent compromise. Just FYI the all you can eat options pretty much $27 for standard sushi and $30 for premium. The premium opens up the door for clam, lobster angostino, ikura, and scallop nigiri/hand rolls. I think the extra $3 is worth it and once again either all or must order premium or everyone has to stick with standard. For all you can eat you can order four different rolls/items for each person at one time. Then once you finish you can order four more. I think this is both COVID and post-Covid friendly as it's made to order and nobody hovers over the buffet table. BEWARE there are penalties for uneaten sushi! I believe this is fair since sushi waste is somewhere just south of being a crime. The fish is good quality. Rice is ok, not much hint of rice wine vinegar. You must remember that this is a buffet style so temper expectations accordingly. For example, the tamago is made by out of house third party, which of course makes sense because that's just too much to try and make for buffet style. Long story short you're not going to find the next sushi superstar here but a solid line of sushi pieces and rolls with probably lower or medium sushi quality fish. The servers are not very well-versed on sushi or the different Japanese names for them but the chef came around and introduced himself to us. Right now they are open until about 3:00 for lunch and then open up for dinner later. The goal is to get to open the whole day. I respect the fact that he wasn't trying to pass his food off as top quality, but rather good quality for decent prices. Some of the rolls that stick out on my visits and/or comments on them: Jen Jen Roll, Monkey Brains, Alley Cat, Coconut Shrimp, Stonehenge. Lobster Angostino hand roll is a fantastic flavor. The scallops are baby scallops with mayonnaise flavor. The escolar has a wonderful flavor to it. Ikura is not soaked in sake, so not as clean flavor as I like it but pretty good. So five rolls is quite a LOT of food so be aware that three rolls probably plenty and then if you need more they can adjust price up to 5. Bottom line I think once servers become better trained and can communicate better what's in each or the rolls and can suggest more this place probably upgraded to 5. Not because of spectacular out of this world sushi, but for cost effective quality rolls and nigiri that can certainly make for a nice lunch or dinner. I hope to one day update to the fifth star to be honest. read more

We commented to the servers that the restaurant was very hot and uncomfortable and asked if AC was on. There reply was no response, just walked away. We ordered several rolls and appetizers.
