We wanted to try something new and picked out JT Prime. The reviews I read said it had great food but a strange physical setup. It is located in a strip mall that faces 32nd, and has very little parking. We found a space and entered through the front door. Immediately inside there was a floor to ceiling black drape that effectively kept out the outside light and the A/C in. But it was very dark, we used our cell phones flashlight to see where we were walking. An employee also had a real flashlight and aimed it at the floor, where we were to go, to assist us. When leaving we spoke to the lady bartender who said it takes about 20 seconds to adjust to the darkness. We were led to a dining room adjacent to the kitchen. Within a few minutes we could see our surroundings and had sufficient light to eat our dinner without using our phones. We did need them to order and read the menu. We chose an appetizer, bruschetta. It was three kinds of mushrooms on bread and had been well liked by others. We could see why. It was excellent, light and flavorful. Our main course was steak, I chose the filet and my wife chose the ribeye. We both asked for it medium. We chose the wine, Alexander Valley Merlot , because we had been to this winery. It's a very nice wine, goes well with beef. The glasses were large which made the amount poured look small. It was enough to sip all through dinner. My wife's ribeye was excellent and more than she could eat at one sitting. She managed about a third of it and they boxed the rest in a reusable plastic container. The sides were identical, mashed potatoes with assorted vegetables. Both were superb. The seasoning complimented the meat and the carrots had been spiral cut and were crisp. The other vegetables were firm, not overcooked or soggy. I had the filet which came as ordered and was flavorful and tender. A very good cut and I ate it all. A great meal. We had dessert, the lava cake with raspberry sauce and whipped cream. A great finish to our meal. I also had coffee, which the waiter asked if "Americano" would be ok. It was. My wife finished her ribeye at home after reheating it in our air fryer. It was still great. The bill? Before the tip, was $217. Service was very good and so was the tip. We thought it was worth it, but we wouldn't, couldn't do that very often. Is that price worth it to you? We have eaten at Julieanna's, Market Grill and Texas Roadhouse. This was the best meal, but a strange place and quite expensive. I would rate Market Grill next best, and it is our favorite for fine dining and less expensive and more traditional choices. The JT menu includes steaks from Japan, which are over $100. So our meal was a bargain compared to those. But we also like the food at Texas Roadhouse, and the cost is about half what we spent at JT Prime. So it really depends on what you want. read more

We've eaten here a few times and will definitely go back many more times. The server was amazing, and the food was amazing. The drinks were perfect, and the ambiance (although a little too dark) was very romantic. The restaurant was clean and neat in all parts but the initial entrance. this restaurant should be the standard for what we expect when we dine out. It is on the pricier side though. Driving home from Phoenix to San Diego I decided to stop here. Great reviews. It's difficult to find as it's located at the end of a strip mall next to a Taco Bell. Walking into a very dark bar area my first thought was is this a speak easy or a restaurant? The woman asked if I had a reservation which I didn't and I was brought down a dark hallway to another dark room. The energy was palpable. The food is cooked in the same room. There was a sous chef whose job it was to heat plates and garnish every dish with a micro spring mix and some fried onions. I ordered an eight dollar bottled water and a forty eight dollar piece of sea bass on pasta. The combination did not go well. The food was way over salted and the pasta sauce didn't go with the fish. A big miss for me. I don't mind paying fifty dollars for a piece of fish but I better fall off my chair. Just an fyi, bring a flashlight because you can't see Shit in this place. read more

We were skeptical when we drove into the parking lot, the location is somewhat sketchy. When you walk in, it is very dark and when your eyes adjust you are in a tiny bar area. You are greeted and then taken down a hallway into an open kitchen and tables. We got our menus and it was so dark you couldn't read them. We took a photo and enhanced the photo to read the menu. Frustrating. We started with a Caesar salad to share and disappointed with no edible flowers on it. I had been looking on the web at the pictures of menu items. So I was really expecting the food to look like the photos online. Entrees were Chilean Sea Bass, Shrimp Acosta Azul and Tiger Prawn Fettuccine. As you look at the photos you will see the entrees were lacking in presentation. The Sea Bass -$48. had so much red pepper vinaigrette on it hiding the fish or lack of fish. The fish should be on top, the garnish shouldn't be the focus. On the Tiger Shrimp Fettuccine-$36, the photo shows you the size of the prawns. The taste was off. Next the Shrimp Acosta Azul-$39. The food looked like a mess. Vegetables wrapped in bacon char grilled vegetables? No. Well there were little bits and pieces of vegetables here and there but it wasn't what the menus said. We didn't like that the food was overpowered with the red pepper vinaigrette. Last we got the molten cake to share. When you check in on Yelp you get a free dessert with an entree. You mention it with the host when you arrive. But it looks like we were charged anyway. On the ambiance, it was very dark and noisy. At a table next to us they had the "Sizzling Hot Rock" where they were cooking meat and the smell and smoke was overpowering with burning meat. Needless to say they need better ventilation. I am so glad I gave this place a second chance, now now I am sure I will be back. Reservations were seamless, and the ambience when we arrived were, as usual come on dimly lit and you really feel like you are outside the city in a metropolitan dimly lit eatery. We started off with the favorite French 75 cocktails which were well-balanced, and refreshing. For the appetizer we had to sizzling hot rock with Serano soy chili marinated steak which was remarkably unique and very flavorful, but also quite fun. Drove an hour to this place in search of some good ribe eye. We had the bacon wrapped dates and prime rib on hot rocks as appetizers. Both were amazing. You cook the rhi. Sliced meat at your table and it was amazing. Then we had the rib eye and stuffed ravioli, both delicious. We spent in total $180 but if you are looking to pay for good quality food then it's worth the price. So I will say you get what you pay for. read more

If you're looking for a better dining experience than what you can typically find in Yuma, you should really give JT Prime a try. What a wonderful surprise. This is a quirky little spot in a small strip mall. Sandwich shop by day and Pop-Up restaurant by night. Be aware that you will enter through the makeshift but cute bar area and then they'll direct you through the kitchen to the dining area. I had the Filet Mignon and hubby ordered the Sea Bass. Both were served with lovely mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked mixed vegetables. The seasoning on everything was spot-on. After we had finished with our meal, the chef sent over a sample of mussels for us to try. Prices are on point with higher end restaurants but if you're concerned you might want to check out menu prices before you go. read more

I had the sexy navel to start and it was deliciousssss Then, we had the ahi tuna tostadas and I actually don't remember what I thought about them... sorry. But I do remember the sizzling hot rock with prime beef and the caesar salad was boooooooombbbbbbbbbb!!!!!! For our entrees, we had the house-made short rib ravioli and the roasted acorn squash. Both were very much delicious. The short rib ravioli was a great time and the acorn squash was delicious for a vegetarian dish. I would have given it an even better rating if I was a vegetarian and not a carnivore lol. The ambiance is very dim lit and romantic. With the exception of the artwork that I did not dislike! However, I didn't find it romantic either lol. I did like getting to walk right through the kitchen to get to our table. My husband took me to JT Prime last night for a date night. I had been looking forward to going there for a long time. We walked in, the ambiance was really nice. When I looked at the menu, it looked interesting. We first ordered drinks. I had a Paloma and hubby had a margarita. They were both kind of watery. I ordered the pork belly and my husband ordered short ribs. I was excited because I love pork belly. When we got our plates, they were really pretty. I tasted my pork belly and it was really really dry, I continued to chew and the taste was gamey! I actually had to spit it out. The waiter was nice and I changed my order to the house made short rib ravioli. One I got it, it was good, I loved the Gorgonzola sauce. The ravioli was not as tender as I would have liked, but I ate it. My husband liked his short ribs, but honestly we thought it was more like pot roast made with chuck steak. Over all we were both very underwhelmed with the food and drinks. I will never go back. The prices are completely ridiculous for what you get. We celebrated our 50th last night at JT Prime. Our steaks and sea bass were excellent. Service was outstanding. Our only drawback was the dark entrance and route to seating. I just finished writing my review of JT Bros (the place for really interesting, original hot sandwiches). I am back from enjoying a lunch consisting of the shareables (apps) and a couple of cocktails, with my hubby bunny. First, since we came in at right after 3 pm, timing was perfect since it was Happy Hour. That meant that all the apps + cocktails on their menu were half-off. That is just half of the story! The best part of this is that the apps were amazingly simple yet elegant, upscale yet grounded in pure and clear flavors. We decided to try all but one--which was the 1/2 dozen oysters (I wasn't feeling it today, especially not in 109-degree weather yuck!). When you enjoy these small plates, like tapas, with their unique cocktails--oh my, it's heaven! The owner's description of his place is that it is a hip environment--but I will add that it IS hip and it is welcoming and inviting. Has anyone walked into a bar or a club and felt out of place because the vibe was, well, ice cold and pretentious? Not this one! I will come back with hubby again and again (but we do want to call to reserve a seat at the Chef's Table next time--and I will try to review that experience, too). While everything looks delicious I had some issues coming to JT Prime for the first time. I ordered the Special Reserve 9 Wagyu, Tiger Shrimp Fettuccine and House Cesar Salad. I asked for the Wagyu medium and it came out raw inside. Only the edges were seared but it wasn't cooked to a medium and that's something you'd expect done right for a $150 dish. I had to ask the server to take it back and cook longer. The House Cesar Salad dressing was very salty. The Tiger Shrimp Fettuccine was great however it would've been nice if the Shrimp was Wild Caught not farm raised considering price. The service was lacking, maybe it was just our server but it just wasn't what you'd expect with a place like this. Overall some friendly staff entering but the experience was deteriorated when it came down to food and service. It looks elegant but that just might be because of how dark it is in there. read more

He said the meat tasted good but the cap was all fat. I had the scallops and they were well prepared. We had the lava cake for dessert which was not great. I found the location to be very strange. It's hard to imagine a really nice restaurant at the end of a strip mall. Walking down a hallway and into the kitchen was really strange.
