We tried, really. We have eaten at JT's MANY times over the years - we have been coming to Brewster for 10+ years, and over the years JT's has gone down hill. Ordering anything other than fish and chips was always a mistake - the "specials" Swordfish, etc were always AWFUL! CApital A. I figured the safest thing was the fish and chips as it was always ok - well no more... Tonite we all ordered fish and chip and it was terrible! The fish was like rubber! How did they manage that?? It tasted like it was pre-frozen - disgusting. To their credit they offered to redo it, but I am just done - done with JT's - too many bad meals, too much wasted money. We had lunch here with 12 people. The food was excellent. We tried the clam strips, clam chowder, lobster roll warm, lobster roll cold, fish tacos and combo fish / scallops platter. Everyone loved the food. It's counter service for ordering but the food is delivered to you table via a numbering system. All of that works great until you need something and go back up to ask for something like another cup for ketchup. The staff can't deviate from the norm. They were out of ketchup cups so I asked for a cup used for tartar sauce and the response was "but that's not for ketchup"! Really?? So what!!! It will work! We all laughed at ridiculousness of it and did not let it ruin our lunch, the food was too good!! We would definitely return here! read more

Can't go wrong at JT's - fast service - great selection and good food. It looks like a little ice cream shack from the road but, stop in and wow... Impressive take out or eat in menu - the best Lobster bisque with real pieces of fresh lobster. Awesome sandwiches - fresh cod and the chicken was really good. It can get busy, so be prepared for 15-20 minute wait for food, but it's worth it. Nice atmosphere, nautical themed with local art on the walls... High customer turnover. A young staff with surprising attention to detail and friendly servers. After it's all done - head outside for great ice cream or fro-yo. Always a cool stop on 6A when we drive in/out of our yearly Ptown pilgrimage... it's a treat on the way in and our last meal on the way off the Cape. Two years in a row ! I rode my bike from Dennisport to Nickerson and decided to lunch at JT's, it is right off the bike path. Delicious lunch size fish and chips, fresh cod, lightly breaded. So good! First off, great customer service and the interior is very clean. The food is good too! Can't beat a Cape clam shack! Lobster roll was delicious with toasted roll and bonus was crispy French fries. My first meal during my vacation on the Cape was at JT's. In search of some good seafood, I ordered clam chowder and fried clam strips. The restaurant was pretty busy, so we waited for about twenty five minutes. My chowder was alright, but not as good as it usually is in cape cod. The clam strips simply tasted like fried bread crumbs, and there was nothing about them that tasted like clams. Afterward, I went to the back of their restaurant to order ice cream. My chocolate soft serve did not taste like ice cream, nor chocolate. I ended up throwing it out. I'm always open to trying new foods and being optimistic, but this was a negative experience. The one thing I liked about their food was the fried fish sandwich, which was quite good. Overall, I would skip this place and opt for other choices. read more

Best chowder on the Cape! Everything we have had at JT's has been great. We frequent this restaurant as we have never had a bad experience there. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I love sitting outside on the picnic tables on summer nights. Sometimes we split the fisherman's platter. The portion is very large even for two people and the quality is good too! Just recently I had the broiled scallop dinner and they were better than some high end, sit down restaurants we have been to. Portion was just right and it came with a vegetable and baked potato. I live here on the Cape, and have had many platters of GREAT seafood. And I was NOT impressed with the one I had at JT's. this past Sunday night. A friend told me about the restaurant because he liked the fish sandwich. I ordered the combo platter. Scallops and fish. When it arrived I couldn't believe how EXTREMELY SMALL the platter was . It included 6 scallops and 2 small portions of fish about 3.5 - 4 inches long and 2 inches wide or less. The french fries were also of a small portion . As The Scallops , were cooked to perfection , golden brown , and hot. The fish was luke warm, and the fries were not cooked properly. The platter itself was overall cool to luke warm. It was expensive for what I got on the plate, verses other restaurants. I was still hungry when I left. The service was slow , and there was only one other person in front of me. the crowd came in after I had ordered. . Good location. Ok ice cream. Get lobster rolls anywhere else. Ordered one regular ("lobster salad" it is called now somehow) one warm with butter. The regular roll: was tasteless, had insufficient amount of lobster and was served on larger than expected hotdog bun. I love their food! I have had their burgers to their seafood and their ribs. The only thing I did not enjoy is their ice cream. I don't know if it's what they store it in but it tends have a really strange taste to me and I've tried it multiple times in different flavors. So, I have eaten dinner at JT's a number of times, but not in years. I didn't realize they serve breakfast until two mornings ago while on a bike ride. Since my favorite muffin place next door was cash only, I decided to give JT's breakfast a try. Bad idea. First, the menu is small. That alone wouldn't have been a problem. But when I received my sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, it became one. I had no reasonable alternative to the grease pool before me. Seriously, I think they must have had to submerge the bagel in oil for it to get like that. It was a death sponge. I suffered through one bite and threw the rest in the trash before walking out in disgust. Seriously JT's, did you have to make it that nasty? Could you have any regard at all for wellness? Bottom line, if you like your breakfast sandwiches as moist as a sponge in a sink, then this is the place for you. If you enjoy life, go elsewhere. read more

My family of 5 just got back to our rental cottage from a very expensive and very disappointing dinner at JT's. I ordered the lump crab sandwich (I had wanted the wrap but it was after 5pm, so they only serve it on a roll - why?) that comes with a tiny bag of Cape Cod chips. The overwhelmingly large bun filled out the plate, but it was stuffed with the most bland crab salad I've ever had. No lumps to be found. I ended up picking at the salad and found a few pieces of lettuce and some diced tomatoes underneath the salad. Truly not worth the $11.99. My husband tried to go healthy and ordered the broiled cod; it came with over-buttered and mushy green beans (canned) and a dry baked potato (no sour cream). He was not happy. My teen boys ordered the shrimp rolls which came with a side of cole slaw; they liked it fine. My daughter insisted that she liked her fried fish sandwich, but she's not fussy. There wasn't any room to eat outside, so we ate in the dining room; another disappointment. Terrible lighting in a cafeteria type room with plastic utensils and paper plates. Overall, we spent $75.00 on a decidedly mediocre meal. I understand that the Cape is filled with such restaurants, but tonight I learned that I may have to prepare my own meals in our rental to avoid spending a fortune on these kinds of lousy dinners. We're giving this place 5 stars because it was exactly what we wanted after a 7 hour drive to our destination, Ocean Edge Resort which is just down the road. We were looking for lobster roll and fresh cod and were very happy with the Hot Lobster Roll and Fish and Chips and Baked Cod dinner. Large chunks of lobster on a toasted bun with drawn butter. Large piece of cod was flaky and moist. The place is very quaint, decorated with bright children's paintings of fish. Everything was very clean. We ordered at the counter and our food arrived very quickly. Cape cod summer beer was delicious. We would return here again. read more

Ah! Memories, memories. I've been here a few times over the years and it never fails to excite me for some reason. It's just really laid back and got that Cape vibe you like to see in a place. Usually teeming with little kids and families, but that hasn't ever bothered me. The back area has a whole deck seating space and inside there are a bunch of booth style tables as well. Cafeteria style trays to eat off and the food is solid seafood. I've never had any complaints about this establishment and only wish them good things. Maybe I'm biased, but you should give it a go if you have a fun group to come with! read more

JT's is the quintessential Cape Cod eatery. Fresh, fresh seafood... scallops, steamers, oysters, shrimp. And the biggest (and best... they use some kind of secret seasoning) lobster roll on the Cape for the price. Seems they use their own fisherman/suppliers for the seafood so that why it seems fresher. Their lobster bisque and clam chowder were first rate. Really, the best, what you would expect from a fine dining restaurant... JT's seems to be the place you know you aren't getting out-of-the-box (or Sysco) meals. It's fresh. It's sometimes fried. It's sometime steamed. AND, it is always delicious. Bravo. I love seeing family owned places doing well... This is not a fast food place, (good food takes time) this is a real dining experience in a casual CapeCod atmospher. And in JT's case... it is giving it's customer fresh authentic home cooked seafood. Can't get better than that. read more

We ordered hot lobster rolls, clam chowder, and lobster bisque. The chowder and bisque were both good. The lobster in the lobster rolls however seemed over cooked and didn't taste very good. This is a terrific place...it is a family owned business and always a pleasure to visit. The food is great, the staff friendly and the setting, with indoor and outdoor seating, is always clean and inviting. My favorite is the fish and chips; the fish portion is always substantial and the batter is light and never overcooked, unlike a lot of other places on the Cape. I also love the fish chowder, warm lobster roll and stuffed fish dinner. There is also an ice cream window with lots of choices, you know, just to make sure you are completely full and happy when you leave. Came here for the first time as we were staying right across the street at the resort. The food was nothing to brag about. For a family of 8 maybe 2 liked their food. I received the wrong order. Asked for the crab cake salad with balsamic on the side and got a caesar salad with a crab cake on top. Crab cake was super salty. Overly priced for small portions.
