This place has the worst service I have EVER encountered. We walked in on a very slow Sunday afternoon for the bears game. There was a total of 14 people in this bar. No one greeted us, we sat at an empty table and waited 10 minutes before my husband just went to the bar to order drinks. Even then no one asked if we'd like to order food or needed anything. Really a missed opportunity as we don't eat pizza and we're planning to order wings and a burger- we opted not to once we realized no one even cared we were there. We moved from the city and work in hospitality - so maybe we're used to quicker, polite and welcoming service. Or to see bartenders and waitresses that work well and are inclusive. We witnessed various potential costumers walk in and walk right back out when no one greeted them or sat them down. Another missed opportunity to generate more money. We did have the drinks and they were really good, they bartender took long to make but it's not the city so we figured they're just not as prepared to work in a fast paced environment - this is a beautiful space and I wish we would have had a better experience, as I'll be hesitant to return. RIP to the old Teehan's. The pictures and reviews you'll find floating around on this page are from the original place--classic dive bar vibes, and honestly, it was amazing back in the day. Things have changed. New owners (the folks from Durbins), new building, new atmosphere... but same name. The new spot is definitely beautiful--upscale, polished, and clearly aiming for a different crowd. And that's fine--it fits the area's direction. Emmy the bartender was great, our waitress was chill, and even the two dudes in tight shirts were cool. But word of advice: don't mention the old Teehan's or use the word "bougie" around the short woman with the huge rock on her finger. She will stop mid-conversation, materialize out of thin air, and show you the door. Literally. I didn't even know where she came from! After we left on our own (and headed to Holsteins..hate to say it, but it's way better than this new Teehans), we heard she might be the niece of the owner or something? Either way, it was a weird vibe. Nothing wrong with being bougie or upgrading the place--I was just making a comment on how different it is now compared to the dive bar we knew and loved. Didn't realize opinions weren't allowed. Honestly, if the new concept is this different, maybe it's time for a fresh name too. Most locals still associate "Teehan's" with what was. Also... if you're going to kick someone out, at least have the decency to look at them while doing it. Props to the rest of the staff for being cool and welcoming. Do not come here. My friends and I were denied service upon entry to the bar. When we asked the bouncer why, he stated "I do not need to give you any reason". We then asked to speak to a manager, and they would not go and get the manager for us to talk to. Nice Irish pub, adequate parking off the street, good Guinness, bartender was easy on the eyes!

Great little corner bar, nice building, the street it's on has a "Main Street USA" feel and the front patio overlooks it all. It's a nice place, open, friendly and inviting. Here's the skinny: Doesn't accept credit or debit cards but, there's an ATM. You can "order in" food. Huge selection of liquors. Decently priced drinks. Awesome decor, very comfy cozy and warm. Here's the fat: It was damn cold outside, I walked into a seriously warm environment. Lord it felt good! Teehan's doesn't accept ANY kind of credit card but, there is an excessively charging ATM in the corner. Unless you're Don Trump, bring some greenbacks. Even though they don't have a kitchen, they do allow you to order in or bring food in, pretty cool actually since there are a variety of local food stops around. Teehan's has a nice selection of liquor stocked. Tey even had something called "Cow Pie" but, I was NOT feelin' froggy enough to try it first time around... OR the second... probably not the 10th either. It's probably not "terrible" but, just because it's named Cow Pie, I'm going to stay away from it. Drinks are priced reasonably, $3.50 or $4.50 for an import. Not sure what Domestics are but, they're probably cheap. Glenn Fiddich - $7.50 for a double on the rocks with a twist BTW. There is a lot of Irish decor. I especially like the "Nothing is to good for the Irish" sign above the bar. Lighting is great, very tranquil, and the Tiffany style lights(look up) give the place a nice flair. The only faults I can find is that the men's room doesn't have a door to the errr... how shall I put it... "Number Two" stall and the bathroom is a bit dated in general. The outside does not match the inside. Outside looks nice and classy, inside is a dive bar without a door on the men's toilet stall, dirty, and a mix match of tables, old flooring, cheap bar stools. My favorite spot in the area. The bartenders are always very prompt and polite. In the few altercations I've seen take place the bouncers were quick to make their presence known. Atmosphere is nice. Beer is priced well. Have yet to have to pay a cover. I would like to add that there is no stall door in the men's bathroom which can be awkward and unpleasant at times and there is limited seating. I work in the city but live in Tinley so I had friends coming out to have drinks. Me and a friend made it here first. The bouncer carded us(oops I left my ID in the car). Went out got it and came back. We went to the bathroom to see if the girls found the place and they were turned around so we went to meet them on the corner. The bouncer began to berate myself and my friend yelling out at us that place wasn't a public rest room and never to come back. I was like really? he continued to yell out at us as we stepped outside. More than rude very poor customer service so we went across the street to enjoy some beers and Hollsteins and was a much better choice. went to another bar before this one and went here because the drinks were not to bad on prices and it was fun to play the darts and not have a huge crowd of people at 1130pm on a friday in january. it was very cold that night so it was not a bad place to play and have 2 drinks and left to another bar. it was ok but it would not be my first choice on a place for friends on a weekend read more

I went here with my Wife and Family. Before I moved to NYC, I loved this place. The Hawks just won and we were on our way to meet some old friends because we were in town. My wife didn't get in because her ID was expired (understandable but we didn't know). She went outside, and I talked to the bouncer, explaining we were here for ten minutes and she just needed to use the bathroom. He said he didn't want to argue, I agreed, and then he forcefully grabbed me by my shirt and literally threw me out. I was even more than insulted and very much disrespected. All he could've done was explained the rules why they couldn't let her in, instead, he made a horrible fool of me and I wasn't giving him any reason too. I even explained to him that I wasn't arguing, i simply wanted my wife to use the bathroom. After this, my brother went to talk to the manager and received the same service (meaning she told him to fuck off and everyone in the bar wanted to fight him afterwards). We defended ourselves when needed but gave no intention of causing conflict or reason for the employees to treat us the way they did. What I'm really upset about was that now instead of a great memory of being back in town when the Hawks win the Cup, instead I have to be reminded of when I was simply trying to solve a problem and was instead thrown out without reason in a very aggressive way. My family and friends have been going to this place for many years and I was completely insulted and disrespected to be treated like this. Horrible experience and this is coming from someone who grew up right in town and used to love this place. It's been a few hours since the incident, and I will not recommend this place to anyone and I had my bachelor party here. I'm calling the owner tomorrow morning. read more

Teehans reminds me of a lot of southside bars, small nice wood bar and ambiance. A definite chill bar, a good mix of older and younger but each time I've been there it hasn't been great for finding girls. It seems like a place to meet up with friends before you go out. I went here based on the Chicago Irish band the Tossers song about the bar, and ultimately I have to say it was a good experience. read more
