Do not use this sort of services! Be aware that Tom (if it is his real name) and his employee(Eden) are neither competent in work that they do nor honest about not being registered and licensed to perform the job. Eden had worked on changing two springs and cable for 6 hours, for two days, and his "boss" Tom for 2 hours fixing Eden's mistakes and rearranging the spring's set up. Nevertheless they charged me $800+$56 tax (if course asking for cash) for wasting my time. Since I got their service done at 9pm the payment was done with a check. I had asked both of them numerous times to provide me with written receipt. I had been promised at first, then lied to that receipt were sent to me, and then got Tom's rude answer over the phone - do not call me. I learned from this experience that before letting anybody do any work on my property one has to check legitimacy of business, such as State registration, Licence and being allowed to take the picture of all the documents including the driver license. If person will refuse to provide the information about the business then this business is shady, fraudulent and can't be trusted. Since, Tom is not providing the customers with receipt it can mean only one thing - he doesn't pay the taxes and his business is a fraud. After emailing him via his site, he replied back promptly, even following up with a text message as I was traveling for work and didn't respond. Analyzing my problem was fast and easy. I sent him a picture of the window /crank/control arm, gave him measurements(he actually knew them but wanted to verify), then sent me links to the parts online for a fraction of the price of what local supply stores wanted. I purchased the parts directly(he gave me 3 sites to check inventory and color desired) and only charged labor costs (very reasonable) to fix both windows. His professionalism was off the charts! We had a budget, and he helped us keep to it, but he really went above and beyond that. Other vendors told us there was no way to keep the 130 year window moldings, but Turab not only helped us keep them, but had so many neat tricks to improve our restoration project. Other vendors just gave us offers against our project scope, but Turab explained to us the dynamics of different windows in different parts of the house and what types worked best and saved us money. He made custom moldings for our cellar windows. He also helped us out to stop a fly tipping incident one day when we were out and not able to deal with it ourselves. And when it was pouring with rain and our basement flooded, he went outside and took a really long and hard look and told us what the problem was. We got it fixed the same weekend and never had issues since.
