Robin, the owner is truly a master stylist in every sense of the word. I've been going to her for years and have never been disappointed. She is actually the only person who has given me a haircut that I have loved. She's so talented, and such a nice person. She's charming, intelligent and clever on top of being the best stylist I have ever found. Her prices are more than reasonable, I actually think she should raise her prices. I have been going to Morgan for almost 3 years now and I have never been happier with my hair. First of all - their suite is located in a building with a bunch of other beauty salons, so don't drive around different shopping centers looking for them. The salon is great because it is just Morgan and Robin right now, so it is very small and intimate. You really get to know them and they chat with you just the right amount. When you visit for the first time, they go through almost an interview with you. They want to know when was the last time you loved your hair, how you style your hair usually, what products you use, etc. They do a color analysis to see whether your are cool/warm or summer/winter. This helps them pick out the right colors if you do highlights or allover color. Next you get to pick out two free services: a deep conditioner, brow/lip wax, neck and shoulder massage, and I think hand massage is the other choice. I almost always go with the conditioner and the neck and shoulder massage. Boy is that nice at the end of a long day. They use all Aveda products, which are really great and the hair color is as mild as it can get. Morgan really listens to what you want, both with your color and your cut, but she will also help you make decisions if you don't know what you want or maybe take you in a less drastic direction if she thinks what you want may not look as good as the model's picture that you brought in as an example. I have never been disappointed with my hair. One of my favorite things is they ask you how you would like your hair styled. They will curl it, round brush blow dry, etc - whatever you want (which is great because if it's a weekday I'll get a blow dry so I can wear it for a few more days without washing; if it's the weekend I'll get a curl so I look great going out that night!). I have never paid so little for such an amazing service. For a cut and color (usually highlight) I pay NO MORE than $75. That is unheard of for someone with long, thick hair. Robin's pricing is more expensive because she is the senior/more experienced stylist. Either way it's worth it. And they do not accept tips!!!!! My only hint and the only even minor downside is this: book early, because they fill up VERY quickly. I will typically book my next 2 appointments when I am there for a service, especially if I have a particular day and time that I want. Sometimes they will get last minute cancellations and post those openings on Facebook, but it's pretty rare. read more

I have been going to Morgan at Jacar for about 3 years now. I bounced around to many salons after relocating here, and once I went to Morgan knew I found a talented stylist! There are so many great things at Jacar- they always make you feel welcome, are always up to date with the newest styles and hot hair color trends, and offer some great complimentary services (i.e. brow waxing, shoulder massage, etc) to begin your pampering session! Not to mention, this salon is one of few "no-tip" salons! You know upfront what you're costs are going to be. I highly recommend this salon! I've been looking for a new stylist that uses Aveda products for the last 6 months and haven't had any luck. After doing extensive research online, Jacar Beauty Lounge had great ratings and people seem love them and continue to go to them. The reviews say things like, "Great customer service", "No tip salon as they are Professionals", "Take the Aveda way of doing things seriously" and "You get 2 complementary things such as a neck/shoulder massage, hand massage, brow wax or deep conditioning treatment to your hair." I thought to myself, "Wow, this is exactly what I'm looking for, to be pampered when I get my hair done since I never get time to myself. I never expected to be extremely disappointed and I would have rather used my money elsewhere. From the moment I walked in I was not impressed. I stood at the counter for 5 mins before anyone would say anything. When I was finally seated I was just told that my stylist was helping with another person and it would be just a few mins. No "Welcome to Jacar Color Lounge" or any inviting welcome for that matter. 15 minutes later, no offer of water or tea like all the reviews say, no offer of any magazines while waiting and no update on how much longer it may take. Once my stylist was finished with the other customer she asked another customer if they wanted any water or tea and then turned to me and said, "What about you Heather, would you like water or tea?" I was like, Wow. . . No introduction to who she was, no hi or how are you, no welcome to Jacar Color Lounge. She had no idea who I was as she had never met me yet acted like I was just the casual person sitting in the salon. My experience so far was absolutely nothing remotely close to any Aveda spa or salon I'd ever been to. I did find that she did a rather extensive "interview" about what I wanted to accomplish during the color session and I did appreciate that. When she asked me which of the two free services I would like, I was really excited about the deep conditioning treatment and the hand massage. The reason why I loved the Aveda method in the beginning. While she foiled my hair we did engage in some conversation but I still felt like I was bothering her or wasting her time. I was not comfortable at all. While my color was processing I thought, what a perfect time for the hand massage since I felt a little stressed. After sitting there for a while she asked me if I'd like something to read. I then realized that there would be no hand massage. I didn't want to ask her about when the complementary hand massage would be given as I already felt that she didn't want me there. After she was finished washing out my color and rinsing out the toner, it was only a matter of time when I realized that there would be no deep conditioning treatment either as she was already starting to blow-dry my hair. A few mins later her next appointment arrived and she started to really rush what she was doing. I thought to myself. . . . I wasn't late for my appointment, she was, and now she is rushing me off to go to her next appointment. Once she finished blow-drying my hair she showed me the color. The color tones were really nice but not what I wanted and explained to her during our conversation at the beginning of the appointment. I wanted to go lighter than I was with lighter colors and be blonder. Instead I got a bunch of lowlights that matched my natural color and dark blond highlights throughout. My hair color was lighter when I first came in so I was very disappointed that I was taken a step back from what I was really trying to achieve. My stylist never thanked me for coming in, never a goodbye or have a good day. I never got the hand massage or deep condition treatment I was told I was getting. I would rather pay 25.00 plus a tip to a stylist at another salon who had great customer service and gave their clients what they told them they were getting out of the appointment in the first place. I'm a stay at home mom and don't really get to do anything for myself. Usually when I go places for manicures, pedicures, massages, and their customer service is awesome and I go home happy. I've experienced way better customer service at other salons I've been to but haven't went back due to distance or how hard it was to make an appt. I would recommend that you if you choose to go to their location where there are other salon services, pop your head into another place and see what kind of customer service you will get there. I wouldn't recommend you go to them because you probably won't get what your pay for or are told. read more
