Just googled breakfast while visiting the east side and this place pops up with 4.6 on google..4.5 on yelp so had to stop. The outside will not bring you inside...but go in!!! The welcome coming in and the service was amazing!!! She explained the menu items and you can tell she loves her job. The food Plates are huge!!! We were in the area looking for a place to have brunch and found this cafe. Upon entering there we when did it we should sit ourselves or wait. Someone came along after to sit us. They were just finishing with a small buffet style breakfast on the far end of the cafe. We had just missed it. Our waitress was helpful and there was a descent amount of people sitting having breakfast. We had coffees, pancakes and eggs. I tried this place once before and truly enjoyed my breakfast. Unfortunately, I have tried to return a couple of time this week and they were not ready to serve customers at the 0600 opening time. Each time I was informed by the ladies there that the cook had not shown up yet and that they did not know when food would be available. The food was fresh, hot, and did the job. It's a quick order diner type place, with table & counter service. It was breakfast for me, with a hot cup of fresh ground coffee. As for the service, I'll just a assume she's young and new. I only had a spoon for coffee and when my meal was placed before me, she asked if I wanted silverware.... Bewildered cause how would you eat an omelette. Her remarks: "some people might eat with their hands". Time went on, my glass sat empty as she stood across from me and never thought to ask or just fill it. I ended up asking another person for more beverage. I noticed she had another waitress looking over her orders on the ticket. So, either the trainer isn't good or the trainee or both. I grew up not far from this restaurant but never knew about it until a couple of years ago when I met a relative there for breakfast. Since then, this place has become a regular meeting spot for my family. It's family owned and has been in business for more than 30 or 40 years - something like that. I like the old-fashioned feel of the place - it's hard to find that these days with all of the chain restaurants. The food and service are always good. read more

Ordered the chicken fried steak. It was a pretty thick and good portion for $8 but the meat was too tought for me to chew. The thing was almost 1/2" thick! Aren't they supposed to pound this thing to a pancake to soften it out a little? Gravy was....different....a good different. I had the brown gravy and I know everybody uses white but each to their own. Toast, eggs over easy and the has brown were right on the money and very good ($4.99). Waitress was pretty attentive. Took a few pictures of the place so people could get a feel on how the ceilings and floors look (cleanliness and updates?) but one of the waitress got in my way, ooops! lol. The local authorities seem to like to eat here which is a good thing. Iced tea and cokes served in nice giant cups, not those little 12'ers where you have to beg the servers for refills every 3 minutes. Parking can be a problem during peak times because it is a small parking lot sharing a strip. read more

Very awesome small cafe with the best biscuits I've probably ever had at a restaurant. This place is a great hidden gem off the busy freeway and I feel very fortunate to have found it. Unfortunately the reason why I've given it 2 stars is they are not being as safe as they could be when it comes to the proper disposal of their menus. They printed them on paper but instead of throwing them away after taking them to a table put them back in the stack of clean new sheets. I asked the staff why they did that and they just shrugged and gave no real response. Then I talked to the lady who ran the cash register and she said well they are supposed to so I'll talk to them. I returned to this establishment the following week and it was STILL THE SAME. Really sucks to see them try but in the end fall short. Hope they will resolve this issue. read more

My friend and I had breakfast at this cute diner. We were at the Houston Food Bank and were both starving and looked for somewhere close by to go eat. It's in a little strip center and parking was pretty limited. We sat at the bar and were quickly greeted and served coffee. I had the meat lovers omelet with hash browns and it was great! 1st time going there and the food plus prices were amazing! When it comes to customer service I believe they should be in a league of their own because they go above and beyond. They literally packaged my utensils, napkins, and extra biscuits in a box to take. As I was just shook by the amount of thought out into a simple experience of picking up take out someone came over to make sure everything was ok. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and it was hearty of a dish absolutely loved it especially with the creamy country gravy. Albeit the gravy didn't have sausage in it but was good on its own. Portions are very generous and saved half for a later sitting. I haven't ate in restaurant yet but plan to in the near future. Loved this place and will def be back. read more

I stopped here for breakfast as I was passing through. Breakfast is classic Texas diner selections. My omelette was good and plenty of the mushrooms and onions that I added on. Biscuits were common. The coffee was WEAK, as expected. If you are looking for a good eats without the all the hipster add ons and up charges this is the place!
