Everything about this restaurant is perfection. The restaurant itself has plenty of seating and a large bar area. The space is decorated with an urban rustic decor and the walls are covered in Austin specific Art work. The service was great as well. We were seated right away, our server was great and our food and drinks came out quickly. The best part is the food. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing with generous portions. I ate off of the brunch menu, the barbacoa eggs benedict is served on a fried green tomato and every part of it was a delicious combination. The eggs, barbacoa and fried green tomato were all perfectly cooked and the combination of flavors was absolutely amazing. I paired my brunch with a margarita infused with watermelon, this too was perfectly made and delicious. Christmas Eve...Date Night...Catch up time (The Trifecta)! While we had very little preparations for Christmas day, we decided to have a nice dinner before the big day. Surprisingly, it was not an original idea as Jack Allen's on West Anderson was packed and buzzing. We had the pleasure of having Wiley as our server. He exuded southern hospitality and was super friendly. Both the hubs and I had fried catfish and Cole slaw along with guacamole and chips as appetizer. Jack Allen's also provides a complimentary perminto cheese appetizer. The catfish was especially fresh, lightly fried and super flavorful. I normally give my hubby my Cole slaw and I eat more of the guacamole. All in all, it was a great meal with excellent service. I am sure we will be back to visit. I met a friend for a social/working (i.e., I was buying some stuff from her :-)) transaction lunch here last week. JA's always has good and consistent food! The weather was nice so we were seated on the covered patio. I had to move tables once because the angle of the sun was in my eyes and they had no problem with me moving to another table nearby. My friend is the founder of her own seasonings company (Sloan Seasonings) and often brings some with her for us to add to our margaritas, which gives them an extra special taste! Josephine was our server and she was helpful with recommendations, had a great attitude, and was funny! I asked to have no syrup in my margarita but if she could bring it on the side I could add what I could handle since I'm reducing sugar intake. She did and she joked that she was bringing me a tequila shot (since the syrup is clear) and we both laughed! I had the fish tacos and my friend had the fried shrimp for our meals. We had a great time catching up over a really good meal. I'm sure I'll be back at JA's again in the new year! read more

Jack Allen's is always a favorite. We really like their varied menu and there is always something for someone. I had the 13 spice chicken pasta, which was 'good' but wouldn't be a favorite only because there was no real 'bold' taste out of the 13 spices claimed. But, I wanted to try something different and I did and don't regret it. The waitstaff are always pleasant and give the appearance they like their jobs. read more

Came here today for brunch. Nice atmosphere and staff was very friendly. Two of us had miga's, two had pancakes, and one had barbacoa enchiladas. All the food was good, but the pancakes were by far the most popular. read more

This is a great ALL AROUND restaurant mainly focused on Cajun food with some Mexican style options. One feature @ Jack Allen's is that Happy Hour is on Sunday which we had never seen b4~ Usually your dining experience starts with pimento dip~ not something I would normally gravitate to, but it's pretty dang good as is the full bar we like a lil something before or with our dinner. The pork chop is my husbands fav & while the menu has lots of options he seems to lean towards that everytime I mix it up however the stewed chicken tacos (may sound odd) are quite DELISSSH. I haven been wanting to try this place for a while and finally had an opportunity. Everything is fresh and locally sourced (bonus) and so delicious!!! My mom and I both had salads that were giant and the amount of protein on them was a lot- nothing skimped on. Our waitress was awesome and the atmosphere was relaxing and clean. The only thing I would change is more local drafts. Besides their seasonal, they were all the norm you find most places (and I live in New Braunfels), and I wanted more options that were a little less mainstream. I used to love this place, but it seems like it needs a menu facelift. I've always had wonderful service while there, but the food just doesn't seem to do it anymore. The last couple times we've gone everything was incredibly salty, which to me is almost the old "salt it more so they drink more" theory. I sent back the food last time I went. I will say the pimento cheese never fails, but I can't write a glorious review about a tablespoon of processed cheese and three pita chips. It has a cool vibe, but I just think the menu needs to be refreshed and back off on the salt and preservatives. read more

Service was fantastic! We were a party of 7 and in no rush. Our server took great care of us. We didn't have to ask for much as he kept anticipating our needs. My friends ordered a variety of things catfish, chicken, salad, special wild mushroom enchiladas (no longer available) which they said was divine. The only downside ***for me*** is there are limited vegetarian options other than salads. Five stars for the carnivores. My friends really love all their locations in the area. I usually just agree to go along. As far as the menu, it would be nice to see a list of side orders versus having to read through all the entrees to see what can be ordered. Love to come here for lunch! I almost always get the Ruby Red trout salad because it's amazing and the perfect amount of food. Everything on their menu tastes great so you cannot go wrong here. Visited Wednesday, 12/03/2025, about 7 p.m. I came to Austin for a few days for work. I'm actually planning on moving from Houston to Austin in early 2026. It seemed like they were really busy, which is obviously a good sign. Ordered curbside, which was a reasonable wait given the business. Received curbside order and went back to the hotel about a 7 minute drive. Not utensils were provided despite requesting. Bread was a little soggy, but chicken tasted good. No real complaints on the taste. Fries didn't taste very fresh. But, wasn't a big deal. The chicken was good and had nice flavoring to it. About an hour after consuming I developed a pretty brutal upset stomach I can't point to a specific trait of the food. It just happened within close timing after eating. There could've been something wrong with the food or there could've been an unknown ingredient that could've caused it. Therefore, I am not having this affect my review. We split a wedge salad which is sufficient quantity to split although needed additional dressing. I had an amazing experience at Jack Allen's. We made a reservation and were promptly seated with a great server. I ordered the Killer Burger with Swiss cheese, Thousand Island dressing, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes. I really liked the way my burger was cooked and the flavors of everything. I ordered a mix of sweet potato fries and regular fries and loved the regular fries! This a great place to go with a family because it's lively without being too loud to hear one another. I can also see this being a great place for a dinner with co workers or even a date night! We came here for a casual dinner and it was perfect as well! It's Austin so there's no dresscode but feel free to dress up! I've been here a handful of times and never had a bad experience here! I come to this location at least twice a week. But today you had the laziest and rudest person that I have ever met there. The usual ladies were not working because they are always on point. I had a curb side order for 3:25. I park and send at text and wait 10 minutes. No response. So I walk in and see the place is dead with about 5 customers sitting. I tell the young lady I'm there for a pick up and she just continues to stare at her computer and point me to the bar. Absolutely terrible customer service! I won't be back for while. read more

Came in for brunch. We did not have a reservation but we were seated with a really short wait time which was great. Service was not consistent. We ordered two Cucumber jalapeño Ritas and as you can see from the pictures, they were made differently. One has cucumbers and no jalapeños, and one has jalapeños and no cucumbers. This is the same drink made at the same bar, delivered at the same. We had to ask for some jalapeños to add to the drink that was missing them. The chicken dish was nice and hot and crunchy and delicious according to the person in my party that ordered it. I ordered the barbacoa stackers as my entree. The nacho chip part was wet and soggy. I had to pick it out to eat the barbacoa and the coleslaw veggies. The meat was cold and left a carpet of cold grease in my mouth. Parking was great. Visited Jack Allen's on my 2023 list of "Veterans Day Freebies". Came here last year and it was memorable. Any entree on the menu is free for veterans. I want to take a minute and recognize this organization for the way they honor veterans. Some have a select menu, some just give you bits of their menu, but not Jack Allen's. They offer any, yes any entree free to veterans. That is honorable. I tried the "New York Strip Steak" and my wife had the "Tom's House salad". My steak had a slight hint of too much pepper, but that's just my sensitivity. Over all the taste was great. Lots of flavor and the steak was juicy. I had them put the gravy in the side, that's why it looks so bare. Thumbs up for this meal. My wife had the Tom's House Salad, with Cilantro Chicken. Their salads are always consistently fresh and good. She found the chicken was cooked perfectly. I could see her doing the happy dance as she ate. The service staff was amazing. Marcy our server was helpful. She knew the menu well and offered some great recommendations. Our food was brought to us by another server, Jose. He was so sincere in his appreciation of my military service. He took the time to recommended two of their fresh made hot sauces. Both were literally "eye opening"! Came here during happy hour, and I really enjoyed the food because the portions were good, the flavors and texture were there and the prices were just very reasonable. My favorite thing was the sun-dried tomato ravioli because you dip the garlic bread in the sauce and it's so decadent. While this location is unassuming on the outside, the inside was bustling on a Friday evening and nice but not too formal. For happy hour, they have half off starters and $1 off drinks which is a great deal. I had a pomegranate sangria frozen Margarita which was good and strong and tried three starters. The Ambience of this place is second to none when being compared to other restaurants that would not be considered 4 or 5 Starr eateries. Very spacious. Now for the chicken fried steak I must say that the steak was on point, very tender and favorable I would say the % meat to breading ratio would have gone in the meat favor for the average foodie...
