A few weeks ago I flew into TX from WA and stopped by to relax after a long flight for a business trip. It was incredibly nice to be able to sit and drink especially due to WAs bar closures. The experience was all but wonderful, the staff was nice, followed COVID regulations. My bartender was amazing. She is shorter and has short brown hair, i believe her name was Becca. I am not a beer drinker typically but she was patient as guided me to find a beer I would be able to enjoy, which ended up being the Crackerberry one. She always made sure my drink was full. She was also very attentive to my food order as I do have some allergies and we ended up getting some tots which were great! The atmosphere of the place was incredibly refreshing after a long flight and a long time in lockdown. Thank you Becca and staff for a much needed night out. read more

Went in here on my lunch break. So, I couldn't sample any of the 53 premium beers on tap. Although they all looked like lagers and pale ales. I ordered the jerk chicken. It was cooked right but lacking any bite that I expect from jerk spices. It was seasoned with salt and pepper only and came with no sides. Service was quick and courteous. read more

The tots were amazing! Let me get that out there. A group of craft lovers, we were in heaven. Our server Bonnie was VERY inspirational. We live just down the road and have come here several times. They have a pretty good beer selection, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about them lately. The past 2 visits have been disappointing. Extremely poor service. We sat at our table and watched 3 of the wait staff play on their phones for 5 + minutes while standing at the bar. Just OK. Service was great but this is one of those restaurants where the noise is so loud you can't talk. We asked to move outside because of the noise. We ordered fajitas and the beef was tough. However, tbe side salads were different but really tasty. With all the other good restaurants in Roanoke, we probably won't go back. read more

Great place to sit back and have a burger and people watch after you've been walking up and down Oak street. We've been here at least a half a dozen times and each time we all agree that the food is very good. Looking forward to the warmer weather so we can sit outside on the patio. Inside is a sports bar atmosphere so there's always three or four guys screaming at the television but that is part of the experience here. The food here is a bit pricey for what you are getting but the large selection of beers available on tap is something I can appreciate. I haven't had anything I thought was bad nor anything I felt was impressive here food-wise. The atmosphere is casual, however this isn't one we will return to on a date night. There are other places on oak street with more to offer in novelty or quality of food. The service was quick and friendly. Abysmal service. Stopped in for a beer. The bar was filthy and I had to wipe off the barstool. Waited and waited while the staff joked and talked hoping someone might tend the bar. Asked a waiter that walked by whether or not anyone was keeping the bar and he said he didn't know. Won't be going back. I ordered a skinny margarita. It was the worst bitter margarita I've ever had and it had a lemon in it instead of a lime. I nicely asked if I could send it back for another drink. The manager would not take it off of my bill and charged me for in it addition to the glass of wine I ordered to replace it. Would not recommend ordering cocktails here. read more

Had a beer and burger, The Black and Blue burger. Fries are extra. It was okay with me with the amount of time it took to receive my food especially when the fries were hot. From here it was down hill. I put the two halves of the burger together and I usually cut mine in half to make it easier to eat. Surprised how difficult it was to cut. Finally got it cut in two halves and was about to take a bite when I noticed the bottom bun was...well so thin it was almost nonexistent so I had to flip the burger upside down to keep it together. Tasted ok but the blue cheese did not seem to be blue cheese. Some sort of cheap mozzarella tasting blue cheese. The hot sauce was a little weird and tomatoes overly ripe. I started on the second half and it just fell apart, what a mess. This is the second time I have eaten here and probably my last. The food would be great for kids but not really a good hamburger place for me. read more

Guys, I love Jack and Grille. I love their great food and their beer and their clean restrooms...I LOVE this place. So I'm moving to Roanoke in 2 months and I need a place to get away from the wife and kids. I'm an Arizona Diamondbacks fan and I'm also a cheapskate who won't pay the $150 for the MLB package. I want to come here. I want this to be my place. But like John Taffer says, if you're a sports bar, you're a sports bar and you can't cheap out by assuming that every game will be on Fox! Tried this place on a Friday night. No establishment with high chairs and little kids running around should earn the classificaiton of Dive Bar or Sports Bar. It's just a restuarant full of families (it is suburbia) with a decent selection of beer. Two of us split an 18 piece wing order. They were about $1 a piece, so not cheap, and the tinniest wings I've ever seen. They had a good taste but after eating these and drinking two beers, we went by Whataburger to actually eat dinner. The place is loud -- lots of concrete and metal to bounce the noise -- and the TVs are on the small size although well placed around the place. I likely won't go back. read more

Our second trip to Jack and Grill and well worth it. We decided to pass on our standard BBQ or Mexican on Friday night. J&G didn't disappoint. Sat out on the patio in a cool breeze. Panko Fried Pickles were fantastic and a good size serving. Jalapeno ranch dressing. Blackened chicken salad was good quantity and tasty! Kasanadra took great care of us . This place is a pass. We live near Roanoke and received a flyer on our door one day inviting us to come in and try the newly opened restaurant. The flyer doubled as a coupon for an appetizer if two entrees are ordered. When we arrived on a Saturday afternoon, both my wife and I wanted to try the wings, but when we showed the flyer to our server, we were told that wings did not qualify as an entrée. OK. When our order arrived, my wife's and kids' meals were as expected, but my order of wings were stone cold. I gave my order back to our server who took it back to the food prep area (visible from the dining area) where one of the cooks looked quite put out that an order came back. After a couple minutes, my order came back quite hot ... as if just pulled out of the microwave. My wife indicated her wings tasted OK, but both of us noted the size of the wings and drums were noticeably smaller than other wing specialty places. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience so we won't be back. read more

I came here for a work lunch with my team and most of us left unimpressed with the food. Between us, we tried the wings, blackened chicken salad, bbq chicken salad (I had this), and the turkey burger. My bbq chicken salad was very bland and plain. A cut up chicken breast on top of lettuce with some cheese, bbq sauce, and beans. The blackened chicken salad looked better but my co-worker said it was just ok. The wings looked ok and someone said the turkey burger was good. The restaurant is large and clean with a decent sized bar. I probably won't be back for food unless it's with my work team. Horrible service today the so-called manager today at noon is racist would not put my card and receipt in my hand after I had my hand out. The receipt and food both went on the counter I asked to hand me my receipt and her reply was 'why should she' and I advised her that was disrespectful not to since I asked ' really it was a racist act' but by her being a manager she should have known this . I adore this place and most of the reason is the staff! They actually appear to enjoy the job! Jake was our bartender on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. He was so kind and laid back. Turned the tv to the race, then golf, at our request, and kept our glasses full. We had the butcher's block appetizer, the tater tots (amazing mashed potatoes, breaded and fried), as well as the tomato bisque. I would recommend any, or all, of these dishes. The ahi was great, loved the wonton chips and wasabi sauce, but they also come drizzled with a really sweet barbecue sauce, which I wasn't a fan of. Well, unfortunately it wasn't until 15 mins after we ordered that I was informed that they did not have all the ingredients to my meal. I ordered Ahi tuna nachos and was told there was no sauce. What I got was overcooked tuna and fried wonton wrappers. Just dry. I'll go back and if they do better I'll change this review for sure. 2 Stars because the server was nice. read more

My family and I have been here a few times (kids eat free on Tuesdays!). The food is pretty good for bar food. And they have a great selection of beers for a reasonable price. My biggest complaint would have to be the lack of waitstaff. We went there last Tuesday for dinner around 7 pm, and we waited 25+ minutes for a table because they only had 1 waitress working the dining area (they wouldn't seat us because of this reason, even though there were empty tables.) We finally left disappointed. However, the next day, my husband went back around lunchtime to have a few drinks, and the manager recognized him from the night before. She apologized and was very nice... even comped my husband's entire check (drinks, appetizer, lunch). I think this local bar restaurant has every opportunity to be successful... if they hire more waiters! read more
