Not going to lie, 1st time I took my son here to get a haircut it was so bad. The lady had a rude attitude & didn't even care to fix his hair. My kid looked crazy. Today, I decided to take my son again, (I know crazy huh) but there was a guy name Luke & OH MY GOSH he did amazing!! My son's hair was cut so nicely we already got so many compliments!! This was my son's third haircut that we've gone to this salon My son had a very great hairstylist that cut his hair. She did a great job. And she listened to all my request. The reason why I am giving two stars to the whole salon is because when we entered, there is a middle aged, blonde haired woman. She barely acknowledged us. After she realized that we were hurt not her client or because for whatever reason. She was very rude the rest of the appointment I asked a simple question about the clippers. she was behind the counter, not even cutting my son's hair. But she got very defensive and started a whole another discussion. She was incredibly rude. As soon as her customer came in, she was a different tone. We showed up on my time for my son's first haircut. He's two years old and was super nervous. The lady who welcomed us at first told us to sit and was generally ok. Before we could even enter the waiting area another lady came up and asked if we were ready--not knowing she was talking to us. When I asked her if she was talking to us she was very rude when responding. Never introduced herself or gave us her name. We went and took Theo to the station, and she asked how I wanted to cut his hair. When I tried to show her she immediately interrupted me and said she wouldn't be able to if he didn't stop crying and would have to use clippers. Which I understand, but she didn't try to talk to my son, calm him down, build any sort of rapport with him. She cut his hair shorter than I wanted, and was incredibly rude and short throughout the entire process. For being in a customer service position, and working with children specifically, I was honestly in shock at how rudely we were treated. I should have just walked out but we were already there and my son really needed a haircut. I left the place and cried for about 30 minutes bc I was hoping the first haircut would be a better experience. I won't be coming back, which is unfortunate, bc the concept is a cool one. read more

My son, his service dog and I went to this shop today. We showed up and a lady and guy walked out (I'm assuming owner) and stated that my son's Service Dog was NOT ALLOWED in. This shop had their personal house dogs at the shop (atleast 60-80lbs each). I told them nicely that it is against ADA LAW to deny a (legit) service dog into an establishment. They then said they could cut my sons hair outside in the sidewalk in front of a pizza and tire shop but that we would not be allowed in. The male then continued to say, "what? Do you think I'm going to put my dog's in the car?" The female was the worst out of both saying that she did not want to hear what I had to say and we could just leave. The last time my son had a haircut here, I brushed off the rudeness and how short the lady was with her responses. Today, I was hoping to do a walk-in with my son. I walked in only to be greeted by a cold and rude soul. The store just opened and she was the only one there. I asked if I was able to do a walk-in, and I got a rude "at 12" response. I just grabbed my son and left. This lady is in a customer service based profession, and she absolutely SUCKS at customer service. I don't know how she still has that job after reading many reviews. Went here to get my sons hair cut was maybe 5-10 minutes late as I'm new to the area and got lost and the lady who was at reception was extremely rude mind you the salon was empty and then she went on to complain about people no showing. Came here with my 3 year old. I'm not sure if I caught the person on a bad day, but the woman seemed annoyed by us more than anything. Couldn't bring herself to smile even when we walked in for our appt. Took all of 10 minutes to cut my child's hair. The cut was choppy on top and missed some big chunks. My child doesn't love getting haircuts but I was right there to help and he didn't cry at all, just tried to move away from the clippers. Honestly, I'd be forgiving if the cut wasn't great if they were friendly and nice. But based off of that alone I won't be going back. Both times I brought my daughter here they were way behind. The first time was right after they reopened (COVID) so I gave them the benefit of doubt. Today's appt was set for 4pm. After waiting 28min in my car for their call to tell me they're ready we walked up to the door. Maybe they forgot about us? Nope! I really like this place but it is really expensive for a kids cut. It is 32 dollars for my daughters hair (she has long hair and just gets her ends trimmed). This seems pretty excessive but my daughter has gone here since she was a baby so it is what she knows and she likes it. They definitely cater to kids in every way so that is nice. She loves picking what chair she gets to sit in. She likes watching movies while getting her hair trimmed and picking the scent of her shampoo. Love all the options to spice kids hair up- chalks, gels, glitter strings, etc. We will continue coming here but wish they would loyalty perks or coupons from time to time. read more

I feel bad there are so many crappy reviews. We just had our 4 year old girl and 2 year old boy's hair cut and had a great experience. We've only had their hair cut one other time (sport cuts in Lacey) and had a terrible experience with crappy, overpriced cuts and anti-kid stylists. We were nervous to try Jack & Jill's because of the yelp reviews, but everyone tells me it's the best in the area for kids cuts so we opted to give it a shot. Cons - It was the end of the day and you could tell the team was exhausted. I felt bad for the girls since they didn't seem to be getting breaks or even a quick breather in between kids. And it was crazy expensive, but that was partially my fault for asking if my daughter could have her hair curled... I didn't realize that alone would be like $20+. A boy cut, a girl cut (with an ask to have it curled) came to $74! Maybe I'm cheap but that was a bit unexpected. Pros - The two stylists we had were very kind and in tune with my kids comfort levels. They also were very open about making sure they were cutting it the way we wanted, lots of requests for feedback and totally not in a sassy weird way (like at sport cuts, lol). They have TVs playing cartoons (zootopia was on) and cute cars/chairs to make it more fun for stubborn and shy kids (like mine). They were quick and did a far better job than I could have imagined. All in all, the only cons weren't really a big enough deal to take stars off, just growing pains of going somewhere new. We'll definitely be back! Update 7/12/19: Well darn, we went back to get my sons hair cut and had another good, but not great experience. This time the lady that helped us was really cool and easy to talk to. She helped him calm down when he started to get nervous and seemed to do a really really quick and great job... and it was only $19 (which seems super reasonable). The downside is when I got home I realized his entire neckline is super uneven and the hair around his ears didn't get trimmed at all. It looked so cute when we were at the salon I didn't even think to look for flaws. We'll still be back, but I'm going to remove a star since both times we've been here there's been some kind of minor issue. Realistically I wish I could give 4.5 stars. read more

We have been to this salon several times, but yesterday was our last. I brought my 1 year old in for a haircut. I stated: just need a trim, but I'm mostly concerned about getting the hair out of his eyes. Hairdresser: yeah I saw it said just above the shoulders, cut all the way around. (From the previous time we were there) Me: yup! I went in with my son having hair past his shoulders (it has some curls, so when wet it is actually longer than pictured) with the intent of a trim (meaning an inch or less off) and his bangs cut so he can see. And I left with a totally different kid - all of his hair was chopped off!!! I don't understand how that was communicated IN ANY WAY that I wanted all of his hair cut off. Because I absolutely did not want that. To make it worse, if I did want his hair cut short I would not have picked the hair style that she gave him. And to top it off, he was so good for the first 30 mins, but it took her FORTY FIVE MINUTES for a haircut. And she still didn't finish. He got super wiggly and started crying and was frustrated by the end so the hairdresser didn't feel comfortable cutting around his ears - I get that! I wouldn't want that either. However, why are you still cutting his hair 45 minutes later?! A trim and cutting his bangs. Should have been 15 mins. But 45 mins later, an unfinished haircut, all of his hair gone and a whole lot of tears later. I was too emotional to say anything in the store, but called the next day to let them know what happened to which they listened and said "I'm so sorry that happened" and that was it. I WILL NOT be going to this establishment again. Basic instructions couldn't be followed. And if you plan to chop off the hair of anyone you should absolutely verify that before doing so. His beautiful curly hair is gone. read more

I am very disappointed and will not be returning. We have been here twice and both times the hairdressers have cut my son's hair significantly shorter than we requested. This time we went above and beyond to try to avoid this. We provided photos of what we wanted, expressed the desire for length on the top several times through out the cut and was ignored. Upon leaving deflated and holding back tears, we began to notice that all the little boys were leaving with a uniform cut. It seems there is only one hair cut this place does, if that is what you are looking for that is fine. For a children's place I was also hoping for a little more time, and patience with the children but it definitely has a feel of get them in and get them out. Cute salon for kids... would have gotten more stars but I brought 3 kids in... two 3 and a half year olds and one 2 and a half... the ladies that cut the girls hair were super... quick, gentle and did an amazing job. The one that did the boys hair was a bit rude! Both girls got their hair cut and styled and blow dried nicely ( it's winter good idea to not go out with soaked hair). Little boy got a cut and left the salon with wet hair... never even attempted to blow dry it. Two of the kids did not want to get their hair washed (3and a half year olds) but the other one loved it. Price was the same for all 3 with or without the wash... 23 dollars. Kids "waiting/play area, was not much compared to other kid salons like fun kits in Tacoma...but if your not waiting long that's not a big deal. Again I like this salon but will definitely have to find out the names of the ladies that did the girls hair so I can request them only next time... working at any establishment that serves kids should come with a cheery disposition and a smile. read more

A customer wrote a review about her less than stellar experience with the salon and stylist.. and someone replied to her comment and said her child must have been "special needs" and that's why the stylist couldn't interact with said child. The SALON LIKED THIS HORRIBLE COMMENT. And they have sincet deleted and blocked any comments calling them out for their behavior or disagreeing with how the shop handled the situation. They cut my son's hair very well, and it was really nice to have a play area for my other son, as well as little vehicles for them to sit in during their haircut. That said, it was very expensive for child's haircut - a simple fade and trim on a 3-year-old. We paid $19 plus tip, which I just don't think is worth it. The stylist, Brittney was lovely and patient, but it seemed like the older ladies there were less enthusiastic overall. We won't go back, but for some, I think it'll make a great option! I just can't justify that price for a toddler haircut. read more

I am very infinitely thankful for having found this place! It is awesome! There is a nice entertainment area for the kids, and a party room in the back! The stylists are all super patient and trained to care for the little clientele. No longer will I have to bow my head in shame and apologize a million times for my wiggly toddler!!! It's in a really nice area, the parking is adequate and the signage is clearly visible. Very happy with the cuts on both my toddler and 9-year-old! They enjoyed it immensely. read more

So I've held off on writing this review to gain some perspective and maybe time would make me feel differently about my visit with my daughter but it hasn't. I truly feel the only good service they provide is to very white families. So here is my review about my August 3, 2019 visit. We had an appointment scheduled and arrived five minutes before hand. We walked in and were not greeted and we stood there waiting when finally the woman (shoulder length blonde haired, middle age) working the dront desk asked rather tersely, "do you have an appointment?" Which I replied yes and she took down our name and didn't say anything else. We were still standing when rudely she said "go have a seat over there." So here's the thing.... my six year old has VERY curly hair and on this particular day it was all tangled from playing, but I knew we were going to get it cut so I didn't bother doing anything with it. I witnessed a hair stylist walking up to the front counter and the blonde woman saying "you have bella..." and they both looked over and started whispering and the hairstylist literally smirked. She called us over and wouldnt make eye contact with me and her demeanor and energy was downright cold and hostile. At this point I was wondering if something was wrong so I kept trying to make small talk about my daughter's hair. She wouldn't reply to me other than a few "hmms" and head nods. She washed it and deep conditioned it ane sat her in the chair. I sat right next to them when the hair stylist said "I'm going to be as gentle as I can but your hair is very tangled" and this started her barrage of snide comments such as " I know this is taking forever huh" while DEFINITLEY saying it with an attitude. At one point the woman from the front desk walked by and said "Smells good over here,must be from all that detangle spray!" Ok, guys, you made your point clear and at this point i was getting agitated at the comments. When asked how much I wanted cut i indicated a certain point and the hairsylist said "no you don't want it cut there" so we settled on a different length. Inasked her to give her bangs and she straight up told me "curly haired people shouldnt have bangs" umm.... my daughter has had bangs most of her life which is what i told her and asked her to just please give her bangs. All throughout this she was grilling me on my haircare routine for my daughter. She told me I need to dry-brush it before a shower (WRONG, You are NEVER supposed to dry brush curly hair.... it damages it!) she asked me about products i use (Devacurl) and then told me "oh i don't like devacurl, i find it to be greasy, but then again i have straight hair" (then what was the point of this comment?) and just wouldnt stop with the pointless questions such as "are you going to blow-dry her bangs every day?" (First of all, why is this your business and i've never been asked that question when she's gotten her bangs trimmed). I really did not appreciate being lectured by someone who has straight hair and knows nothing about curly hair. Finally it was over and we went to pay and they added a $5 charge for "detangling". It felt more like an extra charge for bringing my ethnic child that they didn't know how to handle and then proceeded to discriminate us for it. I left feeling embarrassed and upset and needless to say, I will not be bringing my child or my business to this salon ever again. read more

Pros: there are really great distractions for the kids, the staff is super nice, they have a lot of appointments available. Cons: the haircut. Consistently uneven hairlines, short bangs and no style whatsoever. I keep giving these guys a chance but my son looks like a goob every time we leave this place, especially for $20. read more

I had a terrible experience today. I scheduled a haircut appointment for my daughter about 3 weeks ago. We went there today and arrived 20min prior to the appointment. We walked in - the salon was completely empty. The bih on the host station acted like we are disturbing her - no greeting, no smile, nothing. The stylist - a big round balloon looking female specie - came and one of the very 1st things she said was, "Is her hair tangled?" Yes, it's tangled. She then asked me if I washed my daughter's hair. I am thinking, "Do I cure myself before I go to the doctor, balloon a$$ bih?" She was asking all these questions and kept saying that half an hour appointment is not enough. Mind you we got there 20min before the appointment so we technically had 50 minutes. Again - the place was empty. What made it worse is that she asked me twice why I didn't tell my daughter's hair is tangled when I scheduled the appointment. I DONT FKN KNOW WHAT IMFORMATION YOU NEED BIG COW. You're the professional, ask the right questions!!! And what made it worse than worse is that when I told my 4yo daughter that we have to go and she won't get a haircut, THE BIG COW JUST WALKED AWAY. Like, she did not try to ask us to schedule another appointment or apologize or anything. NOTHING! When we walked out, the other zombied sheep at the host desk did not say a sound. I took my two kiddos in for hair cuts. And it was fine. They have the fun chairs... saddles, cars, 4-wheelers, etc., a little play area, and TV's at each station. And they do quick, fun do's for the girls with long hair. On the downside, they didn't cut my son's hair as I asked. I showed the stylist a photo and said I wanted it kept long. I noticed her scissors flying quite rapidly, taking off 2+ inches in places (he didn't have that much hair to begin with), and reiterated that I wanted his hair long. She brushed me off and continued chopping. His haircut was fine, but it was not what I wanted. I'm not sure if she disliked my preferred look, didn't look at the photo, or was simply trying to chop hair quickly on a less than thrilled toddler. Either way, I'll likely take my son to my own salon in the future. She also seemed less than thrilled to be there. Maybe she was just having an off day... who knows. But, she barely interacted with either of my children. For a children's salon, I expected a little more... I don't know, cheer and joy. read more

Terrible experience topped off by snotty rude employees. Husband asked for my 5 year old sons hair to be 'cleaned up- keep it longer rather than shorter'. Hair ended up shaved on three sides with an uneven mop on the top. Looks like a messy military cut. When I asked nicely how I could communicate better to get a haircut I wanted- the employees were straight up rude- and told me that I needed to bring in a photo if I wanted to get the right haircut. Last time we went- I asked for chlorine Shampoo for son and they sold me something intended for adults that burned the kids' eyes. I guess I should have known better. What a shame read more

We've been coming here for years. Now my daughter is starting her freshman year. She wanted color, something low maintenance and could grow out well. Holly recommended balayage. Thank goodness, she fell in love. Holly is professional and relatable. We giggled and joked, as well as learning about hair and products. My daughter loved her and so do I. I took my 2-year-old son here for a haircut the other day and the girl that cut his hair did an amazing job! He is super afraid of having his hair cut so she had to fix a mess that I made when I tried to get away with doing it at home, as well as chase his head around while he screamed into my arms. It was a hot mess, but his hair looks SO good. I'm really amazed at how well she did with such a hard canvas to work with. Totally worth the money, will definitely be back (sorry! lol). read more
