Found this place on yelp when visiting Charlottesville,Va on an overnight . We were wowed . Sat in cozy outdoor tent , service was excellent . Friendly playful wait staff. Seems to be a popular spot with the locals. Don't let the name fool you - this is not a bro hangout - it has sophisticated menu . There's a nice size bar inside which is also a shop that carries beers and wine. They have over 1000 beers. They have a happy hour. We had delicious pierogi appetizer. And roasted golden beet salad that had spinach couscous, the beets ,pickled onions, shaved apple ,Feta cheese, pistachios with a sumac vinegar that was delicious. I'm still trying to replicate it. And I had the turkey trot sandwich, which was so good .One of the things I saw on the menu was an apricot chutney with carrots and the waitress brought me a complementary little side to taste it. It was so good. We had a really really nice dinner here. read more

This is one our all time favorite places to eat in Charlottesville. The food is out of this world. Lots of the food is made from local ingredients. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon in July around 12:30 PM. It was not very busy. There is inside and outside seating. We chose to sit inside at the bar. We were immediately greeted by a bartender, and she gave us menus. We talked about the beers on tap and tried a few before deciding on the Freestone Walker Union Jack IPA. I had the local burger (which is smashed now) and frites (potato wedges not fries as I found out later). My spouse had the Turkey Trot. The burger was cooked too long so the edges were very dry. The frites were very thick wedges so they were not crispy like fries. The Turkey Trot had good flavor but the bread was so thick it overwhelmed the sandwich. The service was very good as was the beer but we were not impressed with our food selections. read more

DO NOT LET THE NAME DISTRACT YOU, Beer Run is a unique beer emporium covering for a fine but casual dining experience. The claim to fame is over a hundred craft beers on tap and in bottles and cans. All good, but the food is outstanding and the service top shelf. We especially enjoyed the burrata with fresh heirloom tomatoes and balsamic reduction. The midsummer chicken and chicken pot pie were terrific. The lava cake was the perfect way to wrap up a wonderful evening. read more

Stopped in for brunch. We've visited before on several occasions. They sat us @ a table for two outside right away. Only one problem, our table was right next to the door inside where the servers blasted to and from about 1000x during our meal. There were other empty tables available throughout our time there. Why sit us at possibly the most distractingly inconvenient location on the premises? Moving onto the food, my shrimp and grits brunch entree was more or less an abomination. How do you ruin a brunch staple? Serve a bone dry grit cake rather than grits, for one. Over cook an over easy egg to hard, while we're at it. Serve the dish dry as the Sahara and at room temp. Nothing about this dish worked. I found myself craving a sauce, or condiment, of any kind, anything to add moisture. Speaking of beverages, I suspect our $12 Bloodys were absent one vital ingredient: liquor. We order or make Bloodys at home every weekend. These were noticeably absent vodka. Did they forget to add it? Who knows. Both of us agreed there's no way our drinks had anything over maybe a splash of vodka in them. Did I mention they were $12? Lastly, my partner ordered the brisket special and received the brisket hash instead, a similar dish but not exactly the same. We only mentioned it to the waitress when we were charged for the slightly lite expensive of the two. I used to love this place for weekend brunch. We hadn't been a good while. Boy have things apparently gone down hill. Sad to say it, but I think this one's in the naughty list for me for a good long while. Maybe we'll check back again in a few years. After a quick late afternoon of apple picking, we dropped in for dinner in Charlottesville per recommendation. This casual bar & restaurant also offers an extensive beer and wine selection for consumption on the premises or for retail purchases. Like I said, we came in for dinner. I had the Pigs In A Blanket. This appetizer/shareable plate was NOT some frozen corn dogs. It was better. 2 foot-long hotdogs cut in half and wrapped in a pastry that was a cross between thin puff pastry and Phyllo, sprinkled with everything seasoning. It came with ketchup and mustard for dipping. I didn't even try the ketchup, but the mustard was awesome. The hubby ordered the Basque Half Chicken. It was like Hanna Montana... the best of both worlds. Part chicken breast, part dark meat with skin over mashed potatoes. It you're familiar with afrittata but with chicken. Stopped in for some wine and the new menu. Always happy with the wine and happy hour. It's a great go to spot. The current new menu is amazing! I got the Shrimp Aglio e Olio and my friend got the Salmon Risotto and we got the frites to share. My shrimp plate was perfection. The shrimp was juicy and the flavor in the noodles was *chef kiss. Menu had lots of options that you don't see everyday - like the Korean chicken and waffle which was surprisingly good! Our waiter was so nice and helpful (I wish I remembered their name) and so was the hostess. Love the variety of offerings in addition to beer and wine since I don't drink. The coffee was really good! Few places on this rock can match just the sheer amount of alcoholic beverage options this place can provide. Like you name the country, state, hell maybe even county and I think they have a beer from that location. That being said even there food stands out which totally took me off guard. I was fully content on this being a beer place but now a whole new world of possibilities have opened. I wish the location was a tad better and the outdoor seating was not a parking lot. I love this place. In town from Philadelphia for a wedding, I popped by on a Friday afternoon while my fiance was at the salon. Amazing selection, great prices, helpful service. Menu looked (and smelled!) great although I wasn't dining. Had two drafts, both excellent and ones I had never had before. Bought a ton of awesome stuff, and was even able to get a nice bottle of prosecco to take to the party the next day. Would be a regular if I was closer, but man, what a great spot! read more

Checked out this place for dinner and it did not disappoint. Sat on the outdoor patio and enjoyed the plants and flowers they have out there. We had a small plate of nachos with beef and beans and it was delicious. And then we each also had the chicken Philly on a pretzel bun and that was delicious as well. My friend had the pasta, she said it was really good. And I had the potato wedges and the sauce was really good. I also had the raspberry Italian soda with cream and it was so crisp and refreshing! They have plenty of drinks for sale inside their market. They had many desserts on their menu that looked great, but we were just too full to get anything. Nice atmosphere. Right off the main road, set back a bit. Nice tented patio outside to hang with our dog. I liked the Vienna Lager (Devil's Backbone) and I'm not a huge beer drinker. The nachos were really good! Lots of toppings. No dry chips which is exactly how I like them! So did Brody (our dog)! Staff was friendly and accommodating even though we walked in 1/2 hour before closing on. Monday night. Would definitely recommend this place and will be back before heading home to NJ! read more

This place is clearly a local c-ville favorite. I have been here twice, most recently this past Monday holiday for drinks and appetizer. We were celebrating a new purchase. The service and staff are delightful and super nice. Two glasses of wine a piece and nachos (which we got the black bean option) small size. It was prefect. Beer run was a diamond in the rough! Randomly came upon it as it's tucked away here in Charlottesville, and I was extremely happy to have stopped by. The last time I visited, there was quite a line on a Sunday afternoon, so it wouldn't hurt to call beforehand. The French toast here was absolutely out of this world. Super duper soft, fluffy almost in the inside. Would've ordered another dish of French toast had I not been in a rush. Nachos: 3.5/5 Burger: 2/5 Service: 2/5 Let's start with the food. Nachos we alright but kind of dry. They definitely could've used a queso sauce, sour cream, or guac. My wife said her burger (ordered to go) was really bad. I ordered fries for her and they gave her potato salad it seems. Service was not good. Our waiter took our order and didn't come back until we were ready to go. We ended up running out of water but no one was there to help us. Overall, I probably won't be coming back. If you're looking for a place like this, just drive out to Blue Mountain Brewery. The vibe, the food, and the service are all better there. The nachos are way better there too. read more

This place was soooo good- checked it out for lunch on a Monday- we had the empanadas, a burger, the birria grilled cheese and the dubliner sandwich- and wow! Everything was delicious! Had a few beers- their selection was pretty expansive and there's a ton more inside that you can buy in multipacks. Stopped by on a Monday and the place was jamming - which tells you something. We intended just to grab a round, but seeing plates of monstrous nachos pass by, we succumbed, and it was a good choice. Great craft beer selection, tried several VA breweries that are new to me, and amused/pleased to see white whale stuff from places like Hermit Thrush, Other Half, and things I can easily find. They recently changed the chef and it has been absolutely AWFUL since. The service was always terrible but at least the food made up for it. Now, there is absolutely no reason to come back here. I expect this place to go the way of most restaurants and go out of business soon. read more

Beer run is one of the best kept secrets in Charlottesville. We keep coming back for two reasons: nachos and tacos. The breakfast tacos are served from 10-1 every Saturday and they are a total highlight of the week. I get the same thing every time we go: one el Rey and one mariachi. Two tacos is the perfect amount, and the salsa is an excellent pairing! For the evenings, the nacho platter is the perfect amount for two people. The beer selection rotates. You can buy the beer they have on tap, or and of their vast selection of canned beers (note that there is a corkage fee if you drink it on side though!) read more

Arrived for a Saturday brunch and ordered some breakfast tacos. Tried several different varieties, all were wonderful, quite tasty and pretty good sized, it was almost like an omelette on a tortilla. For dessert we got some tiramisu and it was also fantastic, very flavorful with the Irish creme flavor, and also a big portion as well. Obviously with a place called Beer Run there's going to be some beer there. I couldn't imagine a more diverse selection of beer anywhere near C-Ville. We came here for taco week and my friend and I ordered the C-Ville Taco Week $8 for three tacos and decided to try each others. We also upgraded the dishes with rice and beans an extra charge. I ordered the beer battered catfish with no salsa but it came out with only a thin catfish piece in two tacos, some dry cabbage and no chipotle ranch. The black beans and rice had no flavor to them and I was really disappointed in the tacos as they looked nothing like the gorgeous picture they had on their Facebook page. My friend ordered the birria with chihuahua queso, onion, cilantro and that's the other one you see pictures which was yummy. I saw the great reviews and the pictures and looked up the menu but had no idea what I was in for. They have a plethora of outdoor seating and we were able to bring our dog to sit down and she just relaxed on a bench while we devoured our food. We ordered Fried Green Tomatoes for an appetizer which turned out to be a Caprese of fried green tomatoes and that was amazing beyond belief. Lightly breaded on a bed of greens with some mozzarella and balsamic it was perfect. I ordered the special-pumpkin ravioli in butter with pepitas and Parmesan. It was sweet and savory and absolutely delightful. My fiancé had the burger and said it was great-sans cheese (we forgot to request that).
