This place is terrible. I'm over giving second, third, forth chances. I wish I could give no stars. Ordered a salad once, the lettuce was slimy. How disgusting!!! I mean shouldn't any food establishment toss old produce. I get that people try to be cost conscious, but order appropriately and get rid of old stock. Ordered the spicy chicken strips and got them cold! Like at a temperature where it felt like it just came out of the fridge! I don't understand how that's acceptable, even for a fast food restaurants. This is supposed to be fried food... Cooked in hot oil! Am I missing something here? The food was like other Jack in the Box's from my experience, and the restaurant is clean. There's also more than enough parking in the lot. The staff has never been rude or anything, but the service is just a little slow for the number of people in the restaurant or in drive-thru. I like the iced coffee. The shakes are usually too thick, so you need to let it melt a little. Still like the shakes though. Usually, it's okay at this restaurant, except for the wait time. One time, though, we've ordered a Portuguese sausage, eggs, and rice platter, and the worker put the plate into a paper bag sideways. Of course, all the rice and sausage slid into the eggs. I like Jack in the Box for it's wide variety of choices and usually consistent food. Unfortunately the Niu Valley restaurant is still ironing out the kinks. I realize they don't make it until you order it, but for some reason, this Jack's is not up to par yet. Of course it is the only one in East Honolulu, so it is busy, especially on the weekends. When we went this past weekend, it was sad that it took so long to get through the drive through--almost 15 minutes total, but also when we got home, the hubs had soggy floppy fries, which he reheated in a frying pan. Totally not up to standards with that. The last time I was in the restaurant, I used the facilities, and there were no walls up. Think 2 toilets side by side in a huge room. I'm sure when the finally figure things out, they will gain a star, but for now, we are at 2 stars. read more

The food is probably better than McDonald's in my opinion, better by larger protein in the sandwiches and pretty good fries. The restaurant is clean and comfortable for the time spent there. You can get Free refills of your drink on the same visit, just ask the counter person if the drink dispenser is not up front. read more

I went here last weekend to pick up some lunch for my husband and my dad. I was so disappointed with the service I received here. I used the drive thru and it really was the slowest drive the I've ever been to. I had no problems ordering but the problems came when I had to pay and receive my food. This location normally has two windows, one to pay and then one to pickup your items. Well today the pay window was closed. So you had to pay and pick up your items from the same window. They had a guy who was new in training at drive thru. Probably the worst place an in training person could be on a weekend. He looked super stressed and overwhelmed. When it was my turn he was going to give me my three drinks. I asked him for a carrier before he handed me the drinks. He said ok. Then he pulled off his drive thru microphone and walked away from the window. The supervisor asked him what he was doing and where he was going. He looked so confused. Soon he came back to the window and he was about to hand me the drinks. So I had to ask again for a carrier. I guess he forgot... I finally got my food, drinks, and a drink carrier but that took forever. I was hoping it would be fast since it is fast food and I was very disappointed and frustrated at the end. I had tickets to the Book of Mormon and was gonna be late because they took so long. I had to run to the concert hall just so that I could make it in there before it closed. read more

Okay so I rarely eat here, but when I do. The service is pretty good, no complaints ever. Never bad enough to give a bad review but never good enough to get one. BUT tonight, oh my god (major eye roll) pulled up to where I'm supposed to order, waited a couple minutes for the person to let me know that they were ready to take my order, literally silence. So I said "hello?" Finally! Life on the other end of that magic speaker box! "Can I help you?" Attitude major. I get it, working in the food industry is tough. People can be rude, unnecessary and just ruin your whole day/night. I used to work with customers everyday I worked. So I was understanding, brushed it off and did my order. I ordered it slowly and even repeated myself multiple times. She missed one of the things I ordered so when I pulled up to pay for it, I asked her to add it on nicely. Then she had the nerve to say "OH, you want to add more?!" Like its a bad thing. Big girls gottah eat but I was picking up food for my family, obviously lmao. Paid for everything, she handed me my receipt, I didn't look at it at first but I should have. So she gave me the food/drinks I ordered, I checked the bags because man that service...I saw I was missing an item. And just to make sure I paid for it before I asked them where it was, I looked at my copy of the receipt and it wasn't mine! So I told the lady, she gave me the wrong receipt and she had the nerve to tell me "Oh I know." The proceeded to give me my correct receipt. After I checked my real receipt, I saw that paid for my missing item and I told her what I was missing and she said "yeah I know you ordered that, I'll get it" I absolutely HATE giving bad reviews but after this service, oh my god, I had to. Idk what was up with the lady working the window at around 945pm Sept 11, but get a job where you don't work with people! Idk if you just had a bad day or what but this experience with this lady, made me not want to come here again. In our experience, we have noticed that out of all the workers there in the drive-thru, not one spoke English well. It took half an hour (being the 3rd car in the drive-thru), to get our food, due to the fact that they couldn't comprehend our order. As a suggestion to this Jack In The Box, and other restaurants, we suggest to get a work staff, or at least a manager that speaks English well. P.S. their large water costs $0.70, while their medium iced water costs $1.05. read more

The customer service here in the mornings leaves MUCH to be desired. Last week I drove through at 6:20 am to try the French Toast Sticks on my way to work. There was no one in front of me in the drive through. I waited at least two minutes at the speaker with no one greeting me. Called out "hello", and after about 15 seconds, someone yelled out "just a minute, just a minute" in a gruff tone. Waited another 2 to 3 minutes and no one came back. I just left. Tried again this morning. Again no one was in the drive through line. The sign shows French Toast Sticks, three showing in image, $2.99. I ordered 2 French Toast Sticks. The person asks something but I didn't understand her. I asked her to repeat please. She yelled back "you want the 6 piece?". I asked "what are the other sizes?". She answered "that's the only size". Well, duh! She was very, very gruff. The person that helped me at the window was very nice. The 6 piece was $4.99. I drove through to the sign again and this is not listed. The person that was so unfriendly, I believe, was the manager. Someone needs to train her in proper customer service or you will lose a lot of customers. read more

This is the worst Jack in the Box ever. The drive-thru is the slowest one ever and the food quality is just terrible. I'm not one to leave bad reviews but this past visit will most likely deter me from ever going there again. My burger looked as if it was thrown on the floor. In the pictures you can see some type of string and little hairs or something like it that I'm sure is NOT supposed to be in my burger or sauce. We're UH football season ticket holders. They always promote Jack in the box promotion of 2 free tacos if UH has 2 touchdowns or more. Previous to last Utah game, I redeemed ticket for tacos- no problem. Last night at 10pm, was told I had to purchase something to get free tacos for Utah game. Why the inconsistency? I tried calling store manager but no one answers phone. I also attended UH basketball game and was told if UH scores 62 points or more, free tacos. Your staff said a purchase was necessary. I ended up paying $6 for 2 small drinks to get free tacos. UH and Jack in box need to clarify to fans your deal is not what we were told. Very disappointed- won't go back. read more

This Jack in the Box prolly has the worst employees. I've stopped going here and always tell everyone else it's just not worth it. The sandwiches are sloppy. The employees are always talking to themselves and after prompting will assist. There are a few good workers here but it just feels like they hire their friends/relations. This may work in the short run but I feel eventually most of the Honolulu east side will realize what I have - there are safer, easier, more customer oriented places to get fast food. The prices for combo meals can't be beat! A fish sandwich with fries and a drink for $4.99! You would think it would be skimpy or not so tasty. Wrong. It was good. Better than Wendy's or McDonald's fish sandwiches. But I do love McDonald's fish! Sorry, the oil smell there makes me nauseous now. I don't know why. We used to eat there on a weekly basis. For some reason that I can't figure out why I really like those cheap Jack in the Box tacos, and that is my usual selection. Yesterday we decided to dine in at the Salt Lake Blvd. Jack in the Box and we wished we hadn't. I had the Bonus Jack meal for $5. First of all you are a little surprised at how small the burger actually is, it is more of a breakfast sandwich sized bun. Then when you taste it you notice how dry and stale the bun is. Then as you chew it you realize the whole burger is dry and tasteless. To top it off my regular fries were so limp I passed on it. My wife ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and it too was very dry so she had to ask for extra mayo which she never does. Her curly fries were filled with little bits of fries and not too much curls in it. It was also kind of limp. Awful, I got what I think was called the Swiss bacon burger and the meat was so "stinky" meaning it smelled and tasted very beefy, old, etc. The burger basically tasted like a school lunch hamburger. The fries however weren't bad, I mean how can you mess up French fries. I do not recommend coming to this location. read more

Having written a couple reviews recounting my disappointed experiences with the Niu Valley Jack in the Box in 2015, I'd like to offer an update. The food preparation there has improved so it is now what I expect as Mr. Box's standards. Good work team! Keep it up. Now it may have been a bad day, but the men's restroom really needed help. The automatic paper towel dispenser only gave out 3 inch pieces so one had to keep triggering it to get a decent piece of towel to dry one's hands. Worse, the urinal was out-of-order. The sink had soap bubbles in it; not sure why they didn't wash down. Not very appetizing for a restaurant. Even the paper napkin dispenser at the counter was empty. So I know the problems there aren't over. Maybe they're short of staff. BUT... my burgers were good and that's most important. I'm writing this review because of some of the other posted reviews. I'm not doubting the personal experiences mentioned in those postings but would like to instead offer another point of view. I like this Jack in the Box (JnB) location. There, I always order and eat inside so I expect that my experience differs from that of drive-thru customers. Yes, my orders, too, take longer to complete at JnB than at other burger places, however, I'm willing to wait since the recently cooked food is then usually served hot. As with other JnB's, all breakfast items are available all day long--not like the other guys. It's nice to have options: Sometimes I like having "breakfast" for lunch or dinner. These orders placed ahead of yours may be one reason for some delay. While dining inside, I have observed the workers--some of them may very well have been trainees--earnestly trying to quickly fulfill the drive-thru orders. Perhaps improved procedures and training from management is in order; however, we should try to show more understanding toward efforts of the line workers trying to earn a $ for honest work. Worst jack in the box ever. Did a drive thru order but the worker did not seem to understand English. I ordered a Portuguese Sausage platter then she puts down spam croissant sandwich. Asked for Diet Coke and she put down iced tea. After 10 min she got the order correct on the screen. Pull up to the window then she says what did you order. I said look at what you put in the screen but she says I don't know how to do that. The manager is right next to her too giving attitude to the person ordering behind me. This is only my second review. The product and customer service was so poor, I felt compelled to write in and let others know about my experience. We went through the drive through at 8:50pm 2/3. As we drove home, we ate some of the fries we ordered. My daughter commented that it tasted burnt. When I got home and opened the bag there were black flecks all over the fries! It looked as if someone had sprinkled black pepper all over the fries! Totally gross! It seems that they burnt something in the fryer, never bothered to clean the oil and continued to fry things in there. I noticed another person posted a review on 2/1 and made the same comment about the fries. Do you mean they've been frying in that contaminated oil since then or even before then? Also, decided to call the store to let them know what happened. Explained to the person who answered the phone. Long story short - she said, "Sorry" and hung up!! Went here last night and ordered the Portuguese Sausage and egg platter. Ate it around 12 AM in the morning and went to bed feeling fine. Four hours later,woke up in pain and had a terrible stomach ache. Proceeded to drink some water and immediately burped up the Portuguese sausage. The sausages definitely looked they had been out for a while,probably cooked hours prior and left under a heated food lamp, definitely a great way to spread food borne illness. :/ I guess next time I want good fast I won't be visiting this location. read more

I won't drone on about the 20 minute drive thru wait because it's basically a given when you go to Niu Valley Jack in the Box. I was thirsty and ordered a large drink with my meal, so after my standard 20 minute wait in line I received the huge large beverage and started to enjoy. Well, five sips later the entire drink was gone. I popped off the drink cover and saw that my $2.50 had purchased me 75% ice and 25% soda. Never saw that before. Would be a 3 except for the drive thru with a side of identity theft at my last stop here. Debit card was not returned to me and I left, happy enough with my taco takeaway at that moment. Checked my bank transaction online to confirm this was the last place I'd used that card. Went back and the manager handed my card back to me - thanked her profusely. Got a call from my bank about a $1200 charge at a NJ 7-11 and realized what happened. Duh. What are you buying at 7-11 for $1200? I mean REALLY! It's nice to finally have a Jack in the Box on the east side. However, they can't seem to get their fries correct. I've been here 3x and on all three occasions, I received the same old, soggy fries. Maybe they had to work out their kinks but I'm not sure why can't they have the same consistency as the Kapahulu or King Street locations. I am very disappointed with my sour dough jack I always eat this and its my favorite. Went to Buy Valley drive thru went home only to find my bun was not toasted and the burger was cold. My curly fries had plenty crumbs on the bottom they camouflaged it with bigger ones on the top but it was crumbs. Never going to this location again read more
