Came here at 8:30pm for two burgers and eat-in is closed. Drive thru takes forever to line up. We probably lined up for at least half an hour before we got to the window. We just learned that this week they had a staff shortage with only two in the morning and four at night. We got the new Smashed Jack. Burger is good unfortunately it came cold. It's such a shame that good burgers like this wasn't satisfying but could've when served in a timely manner. I have to mention that I love the wrapper around the burger. It made for less messy handling. Oh well I feel for the staff but management should try to correct this. Long lines mean business and their burgers are otherwise good. read more

Terrible, bordering on a giant scam. Lobby was locked. Went to drive thru, but they said that they couldn't take my order and that I needed to order online. Went back to parking lot and placed online order. Went to the drive thru again and told them my name. Took awhile until we got to the window and they were out of the food that I had ordered (no tacos and no milk shakes). They substituted part of the order. I asked for partial money back due to them not having anything. They said they couldn't do that because I ordered online. Said I would have to file online for a refund. I was ticked off, so made sure to file online for a refund. During that process it asks if you want a call back from a Jack in the Box representative. I did. One month later and never received any call, any email, any communication, or any refund of any money. I guess the store should be making a pretty good profit. They don't give you any food because they don't stock it. Then they don't give refunds of any sort. Needless to say, probably the worst restaurant experience I've had in the past decade. read more

Aloha Everybody reading this, I am writing this as an almost everyday Jack in box goer and everytime we go there is always a problem from service all the way to the food. Problems such as no employees, long waits for over an hour, hair in food, and even wrong food items. The problems are really tiring and I have honestly lost my interest in Jack in box in Kona. At the time of writing this review we just dealt with a very concerning issue of them not refunding money back! The issue was we were waiting in the drive through line after making a mobile order just to hear the intercom go "we are no longer serving after this car" We snapped because they gave no reason and as paying customers we should either get our money back or something but instead they yelled at us and even argued with the many people that were also with us which is completely wrong. In short, they need some help with everything to hiring, learning manners, correcting mistakes, and so much more. In conclusion, I will not be coming back to this location ever again. read more

This is the worst Jack-in-the-Box I've ever been to. I've come about maybe four times in every single time that I asked for extra lettuce they never put it. I'm always hoping that the next time somebody will listen but they never do and they won't give you a receipt so that way you don't call headquarters to complain. I have never experienced a fast food disaster like this in my life. I waited 1 hour and 26 minutes -- yes, you read that right -- for food that showed up cold. At that point, I could've gone grocery shopping, cooked dinner, and still eaten faster. The girl taking my order had an attitude like I personally ruined her day. Since Covid in 2021, the dining room has been closed, drive thru only. Lately, they always say there is a shortage of employees so NO dine in or carry out for the past 5 years. We usually get tacos but for past year it is 50% chance they have them in stock so I have learned to park at an angle at drive thru order screen in case I have to back out when they are out of tacos (which are now $1.99 for two tacos as of July 2025). I'm curious if it is the same franchisee owner in Hilo which is never out of tacos or closes the dining room. Reached the store around 10 pm, 2 people in line before us. Waited for 15 timed minutes in line for the order window (which was fine), finally got to the machine only to sit there for another 15 minutes without anyone saying anything. Not even a hi, hello, please wait -- after sitting we noticed that the car in front of us also didn't order. We had been there a few weeks prior and the woman on the machine informed us that if it is not a online order they cannot help us with drive thru service. We sat in the drive thru holding up the line, trying to order online before they were finally like just drive up and we'll take your order at the window.. Fast forward to last night, we assumed maybe they're only taking online orders again but we had no way of knowing because there was no response at the machine, no sign up stating this. So we proceeded to drive to the window, older polynesian woman at window asked if we were with doordash, we kindly said no were just trying to order but wasn't sure what to do. She said that we are supposed to wait at the machine, "even if you have to wait long time you have to wait" i said well you weren't responding, 15 minutes is an excessive amount of time to be waiting with no acknowledgment.. We reached the actual window at 10:33pm. We asked if we could put an order in for 2 shakes and an 2 orders of fries at the window and she said no, we had to go back around. She then proceeded to say, she remembers us from last time and her supervisor told her don't take the order up here again. We told her we knew the girl who took it last time, and it wasn't her. She did not let us speak to the supervisor, the dining area is already closed -- for them to say that its due to them being short staffed and busy that's not the consumers problem. We really didn't mind waiting, we know what comes with going to Jack in the Box in Kona town, it's the fact that they make the process unbearable and it seems like its because they are incompetent. Over the last year, Jack in the Box at this location has been terrific. While there can be a bit of a wait in the drive through line, my orders are always hot and complete. Got back to our hotel around 10pm last night and most restaurants in Kona were already closed. Our best option was to go with a fast food joint and we decided on Jack in the Box as we don't get them up in the northeast. Jack in the Box's menu was extensive!!! My husband and I were super excited to see that they had all day breakfast on the menu and went with 2 orders of the jumbo breakfast platters. At the drive thru window, we were told to go wait in the parking lot and someone would bring out our food when it was ready. Back in U.S. mainland, we are used to waiting 20+ minutes for fast food, but here at Jack in the Box in Hawaii, our food was ready and brought out in 5 minutes. I probably hit up this place 2 to 3 times a week. It's a very short list of restaurants that's open late in Kona. I ordered 3 egg rolls the night before. I came home to realize there was only one. I went back the next night, and ordered some late night aftwerwork munchies again. When I got to the pickup window, I mentioned I only got 1 eggroll out of 3 I ordered from the previous night. No questions asked by the drivethru attendant; a few minutes later, I pick up my order and also there are eggrolls to make me whole. These late night crew deserves a hug.
