On Friday, May 15, 2026, I decided to stop for lunch even though I rarely eat out. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with my order. I ordered the codfish sandwich with fries, and it came on two pieces of wheat bread instead of the hoagie roll it used to be served on. The cod was overcooked, the portion was very small, and the fries tasted like they were cooked in old grease. I haven't had Jack in over three or Four years, and the quality has definitely changed. For $16-$17, the meal was not worth it. I cannot recommend this location based on today's experience. read more

I was surprised to see so many positive reviews as this was quite easily the worst food I have had in St. Louis. I did not know it was possible to make chicken tenders and fries taste like feet, but they managed to do it. Every french fry tasted a little different, some tasted like onion rings, some like fried pickles, all tasted like they just hadn't changed the fryer oil in a while. Decided to get some toasted ravioli because I could not stomach the chicken and the ravioli filling was very dry. Overall, ruined my appetite and I ended up just going to Schnuck's to grab some ice cream for dinner. The staff was very nice and it seemed like it could be a nice place to hang out, but the food was unforgivable. This is the first time I've ever gone anywhere and not been able to force down any of the food. Would not recommend. read more

This is your typical bar. It's right across the street from work and the food is generally consistent. They also have daily food menus. Not that this food is the best food in the world, but they do make a really good chicken caesar wrap and their fries are hit or miss. The onion straws are very good though, but I wish you could get half fries and half onion straws. Whenever I am back in town, I am always excited to have a lunch here! read more

We stopped in for lunch during a break at the convention center. The walk is very short, maybe 5-7 minutes. Super glad we did! You can tell everything is made from real food and real fresh. The sign on the wall was easy enough to read: Order food at the window, order drinks at the bar then they bring your food out to your table. The menu is huge and very reasonably priced. Best potato skins I've ever had! They cover them with cheese and bacon like I'd do at home. BBQ Burger has a nice sweet sauce. Chicken caesar wrap has a good crunch from super fresh lettuce. read more

This place was such a good vibe. We went here after a cardinals game. The drinks were strong and inexpensive - the best combo. We played shuffle board for a couple hours! The bartender (don't know her name, had large orange glasses) was very personable and efficient! She was able to have conversations while tending to the whole bar on her own and we never had to wait long for our drinks. Recommend this place heavily for a chill time. read more

Love this bar. Fun and friendly place to hang. Had the specials (soup and fish tacos), got some work done followed by 9 holes of golden tee. My favorite stop on 12 Bars of Charity is also my favorite bar downtown. It's a great, open space inside with bar games and Golden Tee. Plenty of TVs to catch the Blues or Cards or any sporting events (watched OU-Texas here once). Good bottle and draft beer selection...one of the few bara in STL with Foster's "oil cans". The food is very good...it can take some time to prep as the kitchen is pretty small and if a bunch of people order at once, you have to be patient. While you're waiting, play 4-5 songs on the jukebox and by the time the songs are done, your food should be ready...and more than likely others will have added songs. We came looking for a game! Super tame on a Saturday night. Not the greatest service I have ever had but they did change one of the channels promptly when we asked them to. Convenient walking distance from a lot of the big hotels around the corner (we were at the Marriott Grand and it only took us about 5 min.) So only 3 people working. First you have to wait in line to order food. Which took us about 30 minutes. They list appetizers but they will tell you that they will come out with your food. SO WHY BOTHER CALLING THEM APPETIZERS. After you get the treat of waiting in line for food, you then get the pleasure of waiting in the bar line to get any sort of drinks. IF THAT DOESNT STINK. Jack Patrick's is a fine Irish-ish establishment smack dab in the middle of St. Louis proper. Enough televisions so you won't miss the play, but not so many that you can't enjoy the camaraderie of a good pub. The bar service was really good. An older gentleman behind the bar made each person feel special and welcomed. His younger counterpart still had a few tips to learn, but was attentive. The couple next to me had a pizza from the kitchen, which is separate from the bar - you order and pay for your food at the pick-up window. The pizza looked good, but I was looking for something a little different. I opted for an Italian salad, which was tasty, albeit chocked full of at least a full can of artichoke hearts. I like artichoke hearts, yet I found it to be a bit overwhelming. Tons of cheese on there too, so don't think you are going the lo-cal route. I also ordered the chicken fingers - this was disappointing. I call it F2F food. Freezer to fryer. Chicken strips are easy to make from scratch and the result is such a higher quality product. These were barely edible. I would imagine that the toasted ravioli and crab Rangoon are also F2F, so be sure to ask your server what is fresh and what is pre-packaged. You're welcome. If you are planning on getting crap-faced, and food quality isn't an issue, then this is the place for you because it is very inexpensive. Enjoy! read more

This is a pretty amazing bar, it has the feeling of a true neighborhood bar, and like Kelly B. said, "that happens to be downtown." If I lived downtown, I'd have a name plate on one of the bar-stools. I would never drink at home alone, I would be here with all my friends. This is the "Cheers" of St. Louis. The drinks here are cheap and with the free pour that the bartenders do here, they are worth every cent. Some of their rail liquor is what some bars offer as "call brands". The party room downstairs is a great place for a friends gathering to celebrate special occasions. I only got to sample a few food offerings the night I visited, from a small buffet. Jack Patrick's is a nice little neighborhood bar, located in downtown St. Louis. It's your average bar offering the standard mainstream products and they also have a kitchen in the back corner where you can order from the window and they will bring it out to your table. If you are looking for micro-brews and a large selection of imports, then this is not the place for you. If you are just looking for a cheap beer, some wings and a game of pool or to watch a game, then this is the place to go. The atmosphere at Jack Patrick's is casual and laid-back. There are some TV screens for sports viewing, lotto and keno monitors, pool tables, darts, a shuffleboard table and a couple of video games like golf. A jukebox is also available to play music. JP's has an interesting mix of people from office workers to pool sharks to downtown residents. It's a very laid-back place which is a refreshing alternative to most of the other options along Washington Avenue. In the summer time, its an ideal place to meet before or after a baseball game as it about a 10-15 minute walk from Busch Stadium and isn't as packed as the other drinking holes right next to the stadium. The kitchen does close early, and I'm not sure of the exact times, but last Friday night, the closed it at 10pm. Also they do not allow take away which I don't like since I live so close to it and would like to brings some wings home on the rare occasion. My coworkers and I stopped in to Jack Patrick's twice while staying in St. Louis for a work conference. It was close to our hotel and was one of the few places open so we went in for a drink. We ordered a round of mixed drinks and the total bill was a lot lower than I was expecting so we were excited! However our excitement wore off when we tasted the drinks -- there was no discernible alcohol in them at all. Bummer! The bartenders working were polite and quick. The second time we stopped in, we just ordered shots of whiskey instead of mixed drinks so no issues there. They have a fireball chiller if that's your thing. They also serve food and the bar is full of interesting things to look at -- an old timey barber chair, a phonebooth, shuffleboard table, and lots of TVs. The restroom was clean. It definitely seemed to be a good dive bar for watching a game and it met our needs for the couple evenings we were in town before heading out to other establishments. read more

Came in and sat down at a table by the window my first time ever being there, wasn't greeted or anything sat there for Almost 20 minutes then ask to speak to manager I then spoke to the owner who told me there is not table service which I had no idea I sat next to the bar where the bartender could have easily greeted me and my guest quickly and asked if we needed a drink but never did, I am from Las Vegas where customer service is huge my twin brother plays for the stl cardinals and I can tell you now we will never visit this place again. You would think the owner would Apologize and ask what we needed but never did just kept repeating there is no table service. Horrible prejudice like place. Never again. read more
