The place was almost empty, a stark contrast to the night before when it was apparently packed for the Blues game. Unfortunately, their draft system was down during our visit, which is a bit of a letdown for an Irish pub. I ordered the smoked corned beef sandwich. It was okay, but honestly, it was very greasy. On the plus side, the sweet potato fries were quite good. One thing to note is that the portion sizes are massive--I definitely couldn't finish my plate! The service was a highlight; the bartender was friendly and did a great job keeping tabs on us throughout the meal. While the food was just average this time around, I imagine that during a large sporting event, the high-energy atmosphere would probably make up for what was lacking during a quiet Sunday lunch. read more

Went in before & after mardi gras. In the am we grabbed a drink from the bartender- bloody mary. The bartender gave me plenty of olives when I requested extra & also let me doctor it up w hot sauce. I'm from out of town and hit this place up for lunch time during the week. It had its own parking lot - which before going there I was concerned about parking since it is downtown - but parking was quick and convenient. We got in before the lunch rush. We were immediately greeted and we sat down. Our server was nice and generally attentive. The server was a little slow on keeping our drinks full - but I will give her grace as we did come in just before the lunch rush. Our server was busy - but one of my pet peeves is there were other servers who were not as busy at all and easily could checked on our drinks - but they didn't. I've never worked in the service industry so maybe that's taboo ‍ The vibes were pleasant - large windows to the outside - clean - a big, fully stocked bar - beer on draft - TVs throughout regardless of where you were seated. The menu was what you'd expect from an Irish joint and was up to par. I had a wrap - my daughter had the Sheppards Pie - both were good - hers was better (as was expected). The food was great! I love their sweet potato fries, it was thin and crispy. I also like the salt on top of them. The burger was really tasty but I wish the menu could be clearer. If I could give them a 0 I would. The absolute worst service I have ever had. We walked in at 8:47pm and the hours say open until 11pm. We have a seat because no one is at the front, no big deal. The guy that showed up had an attitude and rudely said we had 10 minutes for food. Now mind you there are 5 of us that just walked over from our hotel after a long car trip. We are starving so we hurry to pick out food. He continues to be an absolute jerk. We ordered food and he walked off throwing the menus on the floor. Then he started yelling our order to the kitchen like we were a chore. I don't know how the food is here because the service at this place is awful! Nice and local spot for drinks and a small group! Also super close to Union Station! Upon arrival, there is a small parking lot located next to the building. Otherwise, there is some parking along the streets near the pub. Walking in, there is a ton of seating! Service was a little slow as it was very busy, but my group and I were in no rush. I ordered 'Our Famous Corned Beef and Cabbage' entrée with onion rings. The tanginess of the cabbage paired nicely with the full rounded flavor of the corned beef. The cabbage had, what I'm assuming to be, a poppyseed dressing combined in which really elevated that flavor. The onion rings were good, as well. The meal was greasy, but good! Amazing service, the balcony overlooking the street was so fun, and the beer / food were great. This location is near Union Station, so it's ideal for pre or post gaming concerts and hockey games with friends. This place was a great late night place to eat and drink. We had arrived in town around 9 after driving hours and we wanted to eat and most restaurants were closing , so we found this place which was open til 2 and serving food late, thankfully. We split a corn beef pizza as we wanted to try St. Louis style, and it was delicious! Thin crust, cut into little squares lots of cheese and so good! It is an Irish bar with sports bar food and some Irish dishes too. It was pretty empty when we were there but our server was nice and it seemed like a cool spot for watching a game. read more

What was once a glorious dump with sticky floors and the faint aroma of old fryer oil has emerged like a phoenix--with better lighting and way fewer health code violations. Back in the day, the floors crunched, the décor hadn't changed since the Clinton administration, and the vibe was somewhere between "Irish pub" and "we gave up." Honestly, if STL CITY SC hadn't shown up, this place was one commercial break away from becoming a Bar Rescue special--complete with a teary-eyed manager and a fire inspection scare. But now? It's beautiful. Spotless floors, actual ambiance, and food you don't need to squint at suspiciously. The beers are cold, the burgers are hot, and the bathrooms no longer require moral support. It's like someone hit the "redeem" button on the whole building. The only downside? I worry about the cockroaches. After generations of loyal drinking, they've clearly been evicted. Somewhere in Midtown, a roach named Carl is angrily sipping Miller Lite in a sewer, muttering, "Maggie's changed, man." So raise a glass to a comeback story. Holiday celebration we gathered here. This particular night there was a hockey game and a large bank having their own celebration so I had to park down a few blocks. When I arrived no one from this group was there because everyone struggled with parking. Everyone eventually trickled in and we found a table to accommodate our group. This table we chose did not have a waitress and after about 20 minutes a waitress came by with a note and put it on our table. It read this table is bar service only. So we had to go to the bar to order food and drinks. The atmosphere was definitely lively especially with the holiday and hockey games going on. Very loud and celebratory environment. The restroom was clean and in prior reviews I agree did have cool wall paper overall he staff was very kind, the food was definitely bar food nothing to rav about, and the environment sports/tavern. read more

There was barely anyone when we first arrived. Our server was great and very attentive. Which is why they are getting 3 stars. When I think Irish Pub, I am thinking cozier and welcoming with a ton of beers and ciders on draft, well, they were out of cider on tap. We just ordered appetizers, and they were good, nothing too special. If I were to be back in St. Louis, I would have to try their Irish food, but since I had just gotten back from Ireland, I was kind of over shepherd's pie and fish and chips. I do find it funny that here in the United States, we think corned beef and cabbage is an Irish meal, but they have never had it. It is something that started in New England because it was a cheaper cut of meat than pork. read more

We go to Maggie's a lot. Love the new remodel and the locations. When there are no soccer games, this is a good place to stop by and grab a drink or a quick bite to eat. Service is typically pretty good. We went here over the weekend with some visiting family and the waitress was super attentive to us. It did get a little loud after the soccer game let out, but still enjoyable. I really like that you can see the soccer stadium from the inside. Oof. It's not an Irish Pub so much as it's a sports bar with some shamrocks on the wall. if that's your thing, fine, but don't go in expecting an Irish pub. Apps - Pretzel bites - 2 of the 15 had salt on them, cheese dip was so-so Toasted ravioli - 3 of the 12 had Parmesan on them, and there was no flavor to them or the meat sauce Onion rings - no flavor, undercooked (some had raw batter inside) Mains - Bangers and mash - yikes. the sausages were somehow dry and crumbly and spicy, the potatoes had far too much liquid to them, and the gravy was a lukewarm gelatinous blob. Burger - nothing special about the burger, but to their credit, it wasn't a disaster. the fries, though, were undercooked and had no flavor. The impression I get from this place is that their main clientele are drunk sports fans who aren't sober enough to realize how sub-par the food is. If you're there with a big group for a big game and need something passable to soak up the alcohol, this could be the place for you. If you're looking for a quality meal at an Irish Pub, look elsewhere. read more

Came for dinner before the ELO concert; entire restaurant was packed with a 20 minute wait. The hostess was slammed and needed help with someone to seat us. Atmosphere was very noisy, had trouble hearing hubby! However, if you can find better corned beef and cabbage ANYWHERE, I'll challenge them with this consistently tasty cuisine! I chose the cod fish, was so delicious and seasoned to perfection served piping hot! Had to get my Irish potatoes as my side. Great food in a noisy atmosphere. Service tonight was poor. Honestly, I do not know how old Maggie is. I do know that I use to party here in the early 80's and it's still going strong. Maggie has always been known for its location and now that it is across the street from our new soccer stadium, it is even a better location. Maggie has a good variety of draft beers and offers good ole fashioned bar grub. Burgers are delicious and being an Irish pub, you've got to try the Rueben or St. Paddy Melt. If you work downtown, it can be a great place to lunch or Happy Hour. Service is attentive and what you'd expect at a sports bar that mainly caters to a male clientele. read more

I would not have thought an Irish pub would have been family friendly, but this was a great spot for dinner. They had a nice kids menu, with a coloring book. The toasted ravioli was crispy with a meat filling. The chunky tomato sauce was yummy to dip. They had a $17 salmon special with rice and veggies, and was flavorful and healthy. They could be stealing from you too. ---See original review below. I came in to the Downtown restaurant on Wednesday, March 19th after work around 615pm for a bite to eat. It was a party of two and we sat in the back. The restaurant wasn't extremely busy and there were plenty of seats. We were told to seat wherever so that's where we picked. They even closed the curtain where we sat. Maybe because there were kids in the section? At this point, it literally took 10 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us and get us a glass of water. Seeing how long it took for her to get the drink order, I just went ahead and placed the food order at that time. An appetizer and 2 entrees. The food came out relatively quick. I liked my order and have no complaints about the food. I ate it all. During that time, the waitress was nowhere to be found. Never came back once after she took the order. The cook/kitchen worker brought us our food. We needed 1 to go box so finally after waiting long enough, I had to bother the other waitress that was working the section and asked her for a to go box and the bill. She gladly brought it and I gave her my Card to pay. Finally, our waitress came back, out of nowhere after being absent with my card and check. I am one that will leave a tip based on service. This waitress was going to get a small tip and I had my mind set on it. I left her a tip on the card and a some cash then left. 3 days later, the charge cleared my account and I see it's for $4 more than I left. I even circled the amount of tip on the paper receipt so there was no confusion. Somehow, someone ran my card at a higher amount and I don't like that. Maggie O's: Do better. Please look into the practices of your employees. This is unacceptable. $4 isn't a lot but hopefully this is not something that is rampant at this establishment. Solid Irish Pub. Dropped by for dinner after a couple of beers at Schlafly... MO's was really good. Cool gastro-pub atmosphere with really good food, great service (the bartender who was an absolute smoke show was killing it by herself), and a huge tap beer selection. I got their corned beef sandwich, and it was fire... They smoke/braise their own corned beef in-house and it was outstanding. MO's is definitely a place hit up when in midtown for an SLC game. read more
