Jumbo sandwich (no bun) without Brisket and turkey with a side of broccoli with garlic butter.
    Randy V.

Should have know by the.good bourbon selection that I was in for a treat. Sat in the bar area and got a very friendly waitress. Got the jumbo sandwich (without the bun) with brisket and turkey. The brisket had a nice flavor and was tender. The turkey was surprisingly moist as well. Have them put the sauce on the side. After all if any the BBQ is any good shouldn't need to hide it in a sauce. As I side I got the broccoli with garlic butter. This was probably the best broccoli I've had at a restaurant is a very long time. I've been very critical of KC BBQ, but this was a good representation of what BBQ should be like. Will definitely make a return.

I got the highly recommended burnt-ends in pork and beef. The meat was mostly tender. My favoriate was actually the butter garlic broccoli and carrot cake. The carrot cake was warm and sweet. The broccoli was delicious with the garlic butter. My friend got the 2 meats combo and he thought the sausage was overly salty. I would like to try the ribs next time. Service was excellent. I also loved their spicy bbq sauce. It had acid, sugar and salt and a hint of bitterness which made it taste really interesting and vibrant. The interior had high-ceiling and carried the ambiance of a steakhouse. I highly recommend making a reservation. We had a 8pm reservation and there were still people waiting outside.

The brisket was a moment. Vibes were friendly, staff was welcoming Didn't love the burnt ends. Enjoyed the Turkey, Pickles, BBQ sauce, Hickory Pit Beans & Cheesy Corn Bake. The brisket was the star

It's amazing how everytime I get my favorite usual entrees and it truly never disappoints here! BBQ stuffed baked potato, meat: brisket with extra green onions this time. Side: garden salad with blue cheese dressing.. I don't know whose dressing they serve because I doubt it's house made but it's THE best blue cheese with crumbles I've had! I always get extra dressing Boone serving is really not enough! Just so you know, I eat on this for 2 days bc the portions are just that generous! And.... I have to say the brisket and cheese is always overflowing the medium sized potato! It's generous portions like I said!! I'd add pics but apparently reached my limit from other reviews!

We were visiting from out of town and were excited to try Kansas City barbecue. I ordered the Kansas City Combo with beef burnt ends and brisket, along with the Roundup for 2 with pork ribs and more brisket. The ribs and brisket were both excellent and definitely the highlights of the meal. The burnt ends were just okay, even though many of the reviews seemed to rave about them. For sides, we tried the fries, beans, spinach salad, and asparagus, and all of which were delicious. The sweet vinaigrette on the salad was really good, and fries were perfectly crisp. Service was also very good overall, and we really enjoyed our meal and experience.

Nick and Sara took care of me after I had an issue with my meal. I was very impressed with their kindness, professionalism and communication. If you have food intolerances such and gluten and diary I had the filet mignon, asparagus no butter, no cheese and baked potato, no butter and the meal settled nicely. I think this establishment is top notch based on my interaction with the staff.

Ambiance was lively during the World Cup. We lucked out and got seats at the bar. Bartenders were working hard but it kinda took awhile to track them down. Food was fine. Not as good as I was hoping for KC bbq. The pickles were probably my favorite part of the platter which says something haha. The spicy cucumber margarita did the trick and I would recommend. Next time we try another bbq place.

Jack Stack appears to be a popular spot in Kansas City, and I can definitely see why. I had the lamb ribs and they were so good that I already want to go back. I was with family, so we ordered several items to share, and everything was absolutely delicious. We were seated quickly, and our waitress was amazing--she spoke with such confidence and knowledge, it was like she owned the place. The ambiance was warm, inviting, and very pleasant. Overall, this was a great dining experience, and I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in KC

Jack Stack is a really cool restaurant in downtown Kansas City with fantastic ambiance. This was my second time visiting, and I'm glad I gave it another shot. The first time I came (about two years ago), I left a little disappointed because I had really high expectations and the brisket was slightly dry. Luckily, that seems like it was just an outlier. This time around, I came with a group of about 20 people and the service was excellent. Angela our server did a great job keeping up with a table that big--constantly refilling waters and checking in regularly, which is not easy with a group our size. The Stack sandwich is fantastic. The flavors all work really well together and make for a really satisfying BBQ sandwich. The fries were also very crispy and pair perfectly with their barbecue sauce. The real secret of the meal, though, is the sweet tea. They have multiple flavors (including white peach), and they are so good. Honestly, it might be the best sweet tea you've ever had. It's flavorful without being overly sweet, and the different flavors make it stand out from the usual restaurant tea. Overall, this is a must-visit when you're in KC.

Pork and beef burnt ends. Potato salad and slaw. You haven't missed anything here not worth the detour.

Drove all the way from Des Moines! The view when pulling up was impressive though a little touristy, with the added Italian restaurant.. Anyway walking into the location was very awing, cathedral ceilings and decor of maybe midevil times ‍. Cool ambiance to say the least. Eating alone I chose the bar as I knew exactly what I wanted to order. To be honest the place was reallly quiet and dead for all the hype. Ordered burnt ends (beef and pork), side of coleslaw, side of potato salad. Neither option render a resemblance of burnt ends! Literal version a piece of brisket over cooked and dry, and a chunk of pork less dry but nothing associated with pork belly or bacon burnt ends (chunk of pulled pork at best). Slaw was good, potato salad was good also. Neither side worth ordering or going out of your way to try. A hard pass on the food for sure, the bourbon scene on the bar was beautiful. Service was good that's one of two stars, ambiance and building the other star.

Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese Appetizer

I just dined here today for an early lunch. While I can appreciate what I think they're going for, which is a more upscale BBQ joint, I honestly think the execution falls short when it comes to the food as it was very underwhelming. The service was very attentive as well, which makes it all the more disappointing. Due to the limitations of Yelp, I can't give Jack Stack 2.5 stars, which is what it actually deserves, so I had to resort to giving it 3 stars since it wouldn't be fair to give them 2. I ordered the pulled pork Mac and cheese appetizer and Kansas City Combo (pick 3) with lamb ribs ($5 substitution), burnt ends, and brisket and then I added on pulled pork, bone-in chicken, and smoked sausage. The portion sizes relative to price were decent overall. Other than the lamb ribs and the bone-in chicken which were the standouts overall and more juicy, the rest of the meat was incredibly dry with the burnt ends in particular being almost inedible. The burnt ends were only the charred bits without the soft pillowy meaty bits that make them a treat to eat in the first place. The sausage didn't have any standout flavor that was worth writing home about. The pulled pork, being dry, was also not really that flavorful. I also didn't really detect a strong smoke flavor at all, especially with the brisket which was also dry. I also felt that the although the Mac and cheese itself was rather unimpressive, it made eating the pulled pork easier. The only BBQ sauce they served me was more standard issue for me. In general, there are better places to go to enjoy BBQ.

Jack Stack BBQ is one the most sought after restaurants in KC. It was evident when we walked in and the place was packed. It was almost a struggle to find a parking spot in the lot. Luckily we had made reservation weeks ahead, so we got a table right away without waiting. The interior was super nice, almost like a wooden farmhouse. There were multiple bars, both were full with guests. There was also private room where a group was hosting an event. The menu had a lot of exciting bbq items alongside appetizers, soups and salads. First we order the bbq smoked chicken that came with fries. The chicken was excellent with such delicious flavor on the brown bbq skin. We also ordered the KC Combo with three picks that were beef brisket, beef burnt ends (suggested by our waiter) and lamb ribs. I started with lamb ribs and the taste was so good, I won't forget it for a long time. The tender meat was just falling off the bone. Incredibly rich seasoning and flavor. Then I tried the beef ones and I was equally impressed. Both brisket and burnt ends were top quality. All of them had good portion for two adults. The sides of broccoli and coleslaw were very good as well. We got a sundae for dessert and it was delicious as well. Our server such a pro. He was flawlessly managing multiple tables. All the dishes were served within a short time. I loved the handmade Cranberry Mint Fritz mocktail too. The prices of the items were relatively low. I was pleasantly surprised to see the check total being under $70 despite the feast we had. Definitely a must go place to try out the KC's famous bbq.

I honestly thought we were not gonna finish any meat but the whole plate was cleaned! We got combo of 3, lamb, beef burnt end and prime crown beef + kid's bbq chicken. All the meats are tender juicy literally fall apart while you pick it with forks. I love the burnt end the most. Reservation is highly recommend. It's very popular. The service is great. The staff is nice friendly attentive. The decoration gives beer garden vibes. Relaxing, people chatting with drinks and good meat.

The meat was tender, smoky, and packed with flavor, with the perfect balance of bark and juiciness. Every bite tasted like it had spent hours in the smoker, and the house barbecue sauce complemented the meat without masking its natural flavor. Some background: I've been a few times now, but never under good circumstances. The first time I was at their food truck right when they opened and they were short on a few items. When I got home the sides weren't great, but I kind of chalked it up to them not being fully ready for me. The second time I went, in contrast I was probably their last diner in their newly opened space. I had a friend with me who had just come off the plane and needed a late dinner. The food was good, but again they were out of a bunch of things we wanted to try and I wasn't blown away. Now, my husband and I made the trip over to their location in Columbus Park about a month ago during regular dining hours and had an absolutely incredible bbq dinner from start to finish. The server was amazing, the food was insanely tender and delicious, and we left so so so full in the best way possible. Our server came over and gave us menus, but informed us that they were out of ribs and pulled pork. My daughter had her heart set on pulled pork and I wanted a slab to share. Not a problem, we went to our backups. My eldest daughter went for the Smoked Turkey BLT, my youngest daughter ordered the Mac & Cheese, and my sone ordered a burger. I went full in and created my own plate, Brisket, Pork Belly Burnt Ends, Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage, Onion Rings, and Lemon Pepper Slaw. Now my kids are not the biggest BBQ fans, but they all loved their meals. My eldest remarked her turkey was not dry and really good. As for mine? BRILLIANT! The sausage was some of the best jalapeno cheddar I have had in recent years, the burnt ends were succulent and flavorful. The brisket was just the tye of brisket I have been hunting for. It was sliced from the connected flat and point (most places here only do the flat) and there was that beautiful line of rendered fat dividing the two parts. It had great smoke flavor (needed no sauce) and was definitely juicy. Wolfpack has lured me in and we will return soon. Side Note: The reason I snuck in unannounced was to be able to give a true and honest review without the possibility of getting better than usual because of the owner's invite back to try them again after my first visit. The level of service, the quality of food, and the overall atmosphere won them a 5 star, nothing else. This is a great local BBQ joint.

The pulled pork was amazing. Everything was tender and tasty. The Burton stole the show. This law was OK. But who has room for slow when you have burnt ends and brisket? Treat yourself and get the three meat plate! You know you wanna do it. I was able to finish it. Inside was packed so it was quite loud. My niece said she was overstimulated but she got over it with the pulled pork sandwich and fries.

I also thought the Barbecue sauces were very good. Plus I wasn't hassled for asking for more sauce or asked to pay a up charge. Classy place ! The Barbecue beans were also off the hook. They were so meaty and delicious. I could honestly make a meal out of them. This is not a hole in the wall place that makes you feel like you went back in time. The establishment obviously takes pride in everything they do. It shows in so many ways. The place was clean and the employees were well dressed. The cooking staff management team looked like they were proud to wear their beautiful black uniform, very professional and impressive. Putting that all aside the atmosphere is very impressive. Price wise it was comparable to the other outdated dirty places. Definitely a place to bring your guests especially if they are visiting Kansas City. If I needed a catering service, hands-down, they are my first choice. I'm flying out tomorrow afternoon but work here all the time and I will certainly stop back in today to get an another taste of heavenly food.

No, this is more of a sit-yourself-down kind of place, instead of being a make-your-way-to-the-bar-for-yet-another-drink kind of place. But they serve up some Joe's Kansas City BBQ, so you know they've got a reason to pull you in. Nothing says Kansas City quite like smoked meats & fabulous sauces, so get comfy & sample a Z-Man. There is plenty else on the menu, but if you're vegan or vegan-ish, then good luck or maybe have a cheat day. The BBQ is fantastic and Ice House has added their own bar & grille twists, so you have options beyond smoked meats. Seating is pretty good, and with both a wraparound bar and table service, there are plenty of options. As is the norm these days, there are screens in all directions, so you just don't miss a single moment of sportsball if that's your jam. P&L is a jammed up place when events are happening, so if you can find yourself a spot to sit and enjoy, then that's a win. County Road offers that and more, and it's only real knock is the service levels, which can be slow at busy times. But hey, if you have a seat and maybe a drink, then wait just a few extra minutes for servers to plow their way through the bar crowd. Definitely worth it for the BBQ alone.
