I've always been under the impression that a Jackalope is a mythical animal of North American folklore described as a jackrabbit with antelope horns. Last night though, I discovered that a Jackalope is in a fact a coked out hipster with a thick scarf waiting in line to pay for a $15 well drink at a bar on Polk. On a Saturday, the weekend before Christmas, this bar has an interesting clientele consisting of confused Japanese tourists, drunken mothers that hate their families, and deranged closeted sex-addicts attempting to recruit my girlfriend and I for a foursome. Hit the ATM for $500, smuggle in an empty bottle to pee in (line for bathroom is mythical in itself), get down to Polk, and get ready to discover a true meaning of Jackalope. read more

One of my favorite bars on Polk! Music selection is always on point! I have been a bartender for quite some time and I have to say that the bartenders at this bar are the best! Andy is my favorite bartender! He always has a smile on his face and very attentive. Makes great drinks! Gino, Scotty and Paige are amazing as well! You would not be disappointed going to this bar! Great selection of drinks (cocktails, wine, beers) for decent prices. Bartenders don't skimp on the alcohol, either, which is a huge plus at any busy bar in SF. They're also super friendly and can hold good conversations as long as they're not busy tending to other customers. The space is clean, but kind of small, and with a bar that's as popular as Jackalope, it gets crowded and loud fast. I wouldn't recommend this place for large groups. If you want to secure a seat at the bar, definitely show up before peak hours. Love that they have the classic NES upstairs and the Plinko wall - great differentiator! Admittedly already a little (okay a lot) drunk when I got here, but my memory was still good enough that I remember everything and having a good time. It's a little snug in there, but it wasn't crowded when we arrived. We grabbed a table, and hungout for a round of drinks. They had a Plinko game on the wall which was super fun. I ended up getting the motor oil...which was a bit much for me, but my drunker friend thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a nice fun touch for a night out. As mentioned, the Sega upstairs is also awesome. We made friends with a group up there and played together--b/c sharing is caring (and easier when drunk). The drinks were decently priced, strong, and the bartender that served us was incredibly nice and friendly. I would love to go back again. read more

Love this bar! Lovely and unpretentious. Nice decor and good cocktails (I ordered the Old Scratch and at first it wasn't quite right but the bartender graciously remade it and it was perfect!) They have a really fun upstairs with old school Nintendo and Sega Genesis games. We played Duck Hunt and had a blast. Can get crowded on weekends but I prefer going on off nights when you can cozy up with your date at one of the window tables. read more

Came here for a birthday party. They had the room upstairs reserved, so we met everyone up there. It was definitely small, with some video games. As more and more people came we went downstairs which was a lot more fun. They have a game called PLINKO here which is really fun. Dangerous but fun. I had an awesome time playing the $10 Plinko game here. We ended up playing 4 times and got something different each time. The 2 shots winner is fun because it's the bartender's choice. Bartenders were really friendly and quick. They were helpful in explaining the plinko games to those who had not played before. It wasn't too crowded on a Saturday night. A bunch of power tripping jerks. Our friend forgot her ID and they basically lingered around to harass her until she would leave. She was just trying to call an Uber. Show some compassion. Loved this little divey hipster bar. Over the bar hangs a huge rabbit head with antlers looking like the archeological remains of one of Hayao Miyazaki's fantastical creatures from a dystopian past. The bartenders were friendly and helpful, and the dimly lit room together with the dark wood surfaces of the rabbit head and bar table creates a relaxed atmosphere. If you go upstairs to a small "balcony" overlooking the bar, you can play Duck Hunt with your performance displayed to the rest of the guests on a screen. I enjoyed it very much, and if I lived in SF I could easily see this becoming one of my favorite bars. read more

Love this neighborhood bar, and I especially want to shout out their guest bartender donation program. I do fundraisers all the time as part of my work, and the program at this bar is exceptional. It's well managed, clear, and transparent for non-profits seeking to fundraise. They really have a great system in place to give back to the community. There is no point to having a door man with a clicker if they don't count how many people are in there. Create a line for if you have to. Almost called the fire marshal because there were so many people. WAY too crowded. Got in and took 30 minutes to just get into the bathroom. One of the chilliest bars I've been to in Frisco. It's a small bar but the whole vibe to it is to much to pass up on. How can I forget the bartenders whom are super chill especially the owner... cool guy that Javier lol, also they have retro video games & an alcoholic version of Plinko to pass the time lol. This place has great drinks. They have a plinko board that cost $11 to play. This is a great idea as it's fun and unique and you're able to try different drinks. I really enjoyed the vibe here. I love this place. It may be a changing neighborhood in a changing city, but Jackalope is still my favorite bar to visit if I am catching up with friends. The prices are competitive, the bartenders are all great (though I no longer know any personally), and they have great drink selections. It's well worth a visit, even if just to see the decor. read more

I could've probably stayed all night at this bar. I was here on a Monday night all by myself, two blocks from my hotel. Met the bartender and a gentleman who knew the owner. We played dice, drank and bs. I was bummed to hear that this bar was not related to the jackalope in Austin but stoked to have found it. Another man came and sat down with a notepad, I hope he made it to NYC to the bar I recommended near ground zero for a Good story to write down. This was such a great bar! The bar tenders were very friendly and the drinks were strong. I went on a Tuesday and the bartenders would flip a coin and you had to pick either "heads" or "tails." If you guess correctly, your drink was $1!!! It was a great time and really made my experience in San Fran so great! read more

First time here, and I loved it. It was so fun. The bartenders made my friend and I feel as if we were back home at our go to bar. The music was great, and the people were all friendly. The bar tender improvised the kind of shot I wanted, and it ended it being amazing. The best part was when the bar tender would take the shots with us. Very friendly. I do plan to head back when in the city. The only down fall, is one bathroom. After a while, it started to smell like heavy urine. Which is normal it's a bathroom for both women and men. Jackalope is a solid place for a night out on Polk. Somehow my friends and I always end up here when we're bar-hopping in the area. I've been here a few times and it's always been a great experience. They have a Plinko game on the wall which is a great game to entertain a group of friends - you never truly lose (or win) with a game of Plinko. They play a nice variety of music ranging from 90's hip hop to top 40 to Christmas music, you never really know what you're gonna get, but they'll somehow always get you to sing-a-long. read more
