Me, my girlfriend, and a couple of friends decided on this place to eat since my girlfriend said the food was good here. As we walk in we were immediately seated a table and we waited for the rest of our friends to come. Once our friends came, we settle into a table. One of the staff gave us water, and eventually our waitress arrived. We were ready to decide on drinks, but our waitress was already ready for us to place our main order. So, we order our food and I ordered the brisket, but the waitress assumes I wanted the grilled cheese brisket, but I corrected her. Furthermore. she takes our menus after we order, but she forgets to take my girlfriend's order, which made me dissatisfied already, noting that she made full eye contact with her and not saying a thing. After that, our waitress came back to see if we wanted any drinks. My girlfriend asked for a coke, and the waitress ran off before I could even say anything. O-kay? Anyway, our food arrive and the food was certainly fantastic, I finished my plate and so did everyone else. Then, the check came, and this is when I started to realize a problem. Our check was normal except for "AUTO-GRAT: 20%" (Automatic Gratuity). What? Because I checked my party and we were a party for 4. Me, My girlfriend, and my two other friends. If you look closely at the bottom of their menu, it says "Automatic Gratuity of 20% will be added to parties of 6 OR MORE. Keep in mind, that is 6 people or more. We had 4, simply 4. I called the waitress and said "What is this automatic gratuity?" and she replied, "Oh, that is already applied to the bill." And I tried to explain to her my difficulties in paying the gratuity. I say "Don't get me wrong, the food was fantastic, but I just unfortunately cannot tip this." Mind you, I would've been completely fine with paying the 20%! IF I WAS TOLD BEFORE HAND AND NOT TOLD BY THE BOTTOM OF THE MENU IN SMALL TEXT. After I told her that, she said "I've never gotten that before, I'll remember that for next time you come here", which I took as a threat because I will never ever come back to this establishment ever again. I asked her, "Is there anyway we can tip differently?" And surprisingly she said "Yes." and that should've been correct the first time, since we are 4 people, not 6 or more. When me and my party left together after paying the bill (TOTAL, TAX, AND OUR OWN DESIRED TIP), we noticed our waitress walked outside the restaurant looking for us, which we thought was very strange. It is safe to say that I will never look forward to eating here again, never stepping foot in this place again, and never paying 20% gratuity here ever again. read more

I used to love Jackie B's -- but after my most recent experience, I won't be going back. I've been a loyal customer for years. At one point, I was ordering food from them two to three times a week. The food was consistently good, and I genuinely supported the business. About a year ago, I found an earplug in my salad. I called the next day, and the owner or manager followed up with a sincere apology. I appreciated the gesture and told them I understood that mistakes happen. They offered me a $100 gift card, which I thought was generous, and I continued to order from them regularly after that. Fast forward to two days ago -- I placed a takeout order for my mother and me: two orders of chicken fingers with fries and two of their "game time" pretzels. After waiting around 40 minutes at the bar for the order, I brought the food home only to discover the pretzels were completely burnt -- black and inedible. Annoying, but again, mistakes happen. I drove back to Jackie B's with the pretzels to get them replaced. I approached the heavyset male bartender and showed him the issue. He said nothing -- just took the box from my hand and walked to the back. A few minutes later, he came back and said, "Your pretzels will be out shortly." Still no apology, no explanation, no acknowledgment that I had to make a second trip because of their mistake. What followed was a 45-minute wait -- for two pre-cooked pretzels that only needed reheating. During that time, the bartender repeatedly walked past me without a word, avoiding eye contact entirely. At one point, I saw him speaking to the thinner male bartender and looking in my direction, only to stop when I glanced over -- making me feel like I was being mocked or talked about. Finally, after 45 minutes, the pretzels came out. The same bartender handed them to me without a single word or apology, and with a visible attitude. As I was leaving, the thinner bartender -- who's always been polite -- did say "sorry," but at that point, the damage was done. I'm not upset because the pretzels were burnt. I'm upset because of how I was treated -- like I was a nuisance for expecting my food to be prepared correctly. I left feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and like my loyalty as a customer meant nothing. It's a shame because I really did love their food. But I refuse to support a place that makes its customers feel unwelcome for holding them to a basic standard of service. I won't be returning. read more

Visiting family for the weekend and decided to takeout from a place we hadn't before. I had seen the sign for Jackie B's for a while, and really wanted to give it a go! Using their site was easy to place an order. Unfortunately, we only realized after we ordered that we should have chosen more BBQ type items. I had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. It was tasty, but I thought it would be spicier. The jalapeños gave it a nice touch, but that was the only flavorful thing on it. On the other hand, the very generous portion side of mac and cheese was DELICIOUS. (Note, it was $1 extra but so worth it). My mom ordered the California burger and wasn't too thrilled about it, but that was one of the only vegetarian items that interested her. The fried cauliflower was tasty, but wasn't crispy. In conclusion, I would order from here again but will definitely try the chicken wings and burnt ends next time. read more

But in all fairness that's not what they are about. What they are offering is good bar food at a fair price with good service in a welcoming atmosphere. Come here on a Saturday afternoon and you will find neighborhood regulars having a relaxing meal drinking their cocktails with friends. Come on a Saturday night and find a completely different set of regulars at the bar yoking it up while families enjoy their meals inside or if it's nice night at an outside table. However if this type of neighborhood establishment is going to thrive on average bar food it must have excellent bartenders. The type that if they worked at a fancy NYC bar would be called a "mixologist" and guess what? That's exactly what they have. Great bartenders. The type that pours a beer with as much pride as making the perfect martini. So no. Don't drive across Westchester or in from Connecticut to go here. I'm local and love when new places open on the street. Jackie B's is new but at the same time feels very familiar. The street really needed a new, fresh spot to grab a beer and a burger. A place that's nice but not fancy. I'm still working my way through the menu. But in my opinion, the wings at Jackie B's can go toe-to-toe with any wings in the area. The wings are just great bar wings. Unique but not trying to get too complicated/clever. I highly recommend. I've had a burger her as well and it was very good. I like craft beer and I find their selection to be good. I wish there were a few different options on tap (not more- just different...more craft/local and maybe less national...maybe more Peekskill, or Industrial Arts vs. Palm or Guinness). But in my opinion, the food and drink is only part of the story here. It's a neighborhood spot with friendly people at and behind the bar. I was sitting at a table behind them.: the loud conversation about immigrants and black peoples throwing the N word around loud enough that you could hear them outside when the door opened.. calling Hispanic people spics talking about Jewish people calling them kikes.. Asian people gooks.. I really expected more from an affluent area like Scarsdale .. I have given this place 4 Stars based solely on the food. I got a cheeseburger with caramelized onions bacon egg a fried egg and a massive amount of fries $14.99. the burger was quite tasty and the meal was very filling. The service on the other hand was quite slow it took almost everyone in the restaurant half an hour before the orders came. I mean a burger and fries should nit take half an hour to make. I actually felt very sorry for the one waitress on duty. I felt she was doing the best she could but she was overwhelmed by the tables there was also a bartender behind the bar who did absolutely nothing for the hour and 10 minutes. I'm very happy this place is open. The area can always use more local hangouts and this one stays open later than the norm for Westchester. It was packed and loud and that's what I expect from a neighborhood place. They even have a jukebox which was a nice, fun touch. Sadly, our dinner was just average. The sliders were dry and bland. They are far better at the Irish Bank in Hartsdale. The chicken was swimming in whatever sauce they used. If the kitchen steps up their game, this will go on the regular rotation for us. If not, then it may just be a place for late night drinks or a happy hour. On a side note, I was disheartened to see all the plastic straws on the bar.... in the cocktails, in the water glasses. This was definitely the case with our recent visit to Jackie Bs. We were a party of 6, seated around 6pm on a Saturday (they open at 4). Half of us ordered the brisket entree, and after a few minutes our server came back and told us that the brisket isn't available because they only just started cooking it. Hmmm. You open at 4. It's Saturday. The restaurant is PACKED (because everyone is excited to check it out). And the one truly exciting thing on the menu isn't available. Come on now. We all placed different orders which we just weren't thrilled about. I had the sliders which were truly a joke. Like, what was that? A super thick cold bun with the tiniest sliver of beef and some non melted American cheese on top. Yuck. No thank you. Why 4 stars? Truthfully, it was the wings. They were spot on.
